Good question. It never came up during the episode. BTW - the other
predatory creatures in that episode included communist party officials who
were interested in squeezing $$ out of the townsfolk.

Fanfic ideas, anyone? (Esp one that involves LC, Janette and Nick?)

Totally justifiable.
Heck, one look at MY finances, and any accountant
would beg for death.

Imagine the scene ...

"Listen, mister, I'm supporting 23 cats and 1 big
Rottweiler, and that's how many exemptions I want: 24!
I've earned them. All my receipts are in that sticky
paper bag. You want 'em, you put YOUR hand in there.

"One cat is an emotional eater and weighs 38 pounds;
two cats are bulimic; one's epileptic, one is criminally
insane, three are deaf, five have chronic hairballs,
and four of them need special education services. The
other six have personality disorders.

"Don't even TRY to tell me that these vet bills are not
deductible. I'm not listening to lies. I pay you for
help and for good news, not negativity. The world is
full of accountants, you know."

I suppose Jeanette goes through a similar experience
with all the little vamps at The Raven; she's a rescuer, too.
{But SHE can whammy the guy into giving her a gazillion
exemptions if she wants. Harumph.}

Can you tell tax time is a little bit stressful at our house?
Arrrggghhh....

Sorry, don't remember the episode name - it was a modern ep. I really wish I
had that lovely vampiric total recall at this point.

I went to several sites and read all of the episode synopsies and
found nothing that resembles what people describe. Is it definitely
an Outer Limits episode?

To keep this kind of on topic... as I was scrolling through, I
noticed a heck of a lot of familiar names from FK. It's true, there
are only 47 actors in Canada.

Subject: "Tracy" doll

Hi-
I was a Toys R Us the other day looking for roller skates and of
course I have to go look at the action figures.
Anyhoo, they had Andomeda dolls. I have only seen the show once or
twice, but I know Lisa Ryder was in it.
They had her doll. It was $19.99, so I didn't get it. (I am not a
huge fan of hers). I just thought, hey get her some barbie clothes -
like jeans and blouse and she can be Tracy. And that could go with
whomever had made the Nick dolls. :)
Weird, I know... but this is coming from someone who went to
"Build-a-Bear" and made a Nick-bear. (His name is officially
Nicholas B. Knight and he is dressed in DK fashion - jeans, white
turtleneck, but they didn't have a black jacket) Now I have to make
a LC-bear.

I have also seen this episode and I think it might have been from either the
Mid '80's Twilight Zone remake or perhaps Amazing Stories.

Hi everyone....
I found this episode that we were talking about.
It is Twilight Zone and the title is "Red Snow
Here's what tvtome had:

RED SNOW
gs: George Dzundza (Colonel Ilyanov) Victoria Tennant (Valentina)

A KGB investigator, a reluctant Communist supporter, is sent to
Siberia to investigate the deaths of Communist party officials. He
discovers that Stalin's exiles are alive and well. He also discovers
dead people drained of blood. In the cold Siberian six-month nights
the investigator realizes that the whole village is either vampires,
or humans that assist them. They cannot let him go, but he offers
them a counterdeal. When next we see him he is a vampire himself, and
preparing to bring other Communist officials over.

Yes, the flashbacks in Strings, Nick was with the Russian royal
family and the 'healer' was Rasputin who was a vampire.

I don't know whether this is the story or not, and I cannot remember the
author since this zine is still on loan to a co-worker. Anyway, there was a
big charity zine anthology put out by someone on the list that had a story
entitled "The Tax Man Cometh" about Nick and LC dealing with the Canadian
Revenue Service.

I'm not sure if I read this in a fanfic or came up with it myself (if I did, it
was so long ago I don't remember) but it sticks in my mind that there is a lot
of blood thrown away by bloodbanks and hospitals every day because it's
contaminated, infected, or just plain expires (that's why they never have enough
blood-- it doesn't keep very long). So an enterprising vampire could pick it
up, bottle it (preserve it in some way?) and sell it. Considering the strict
standards that hospitals have to keep, even the expired blood wouldn't be very
far gone, and disease doesn't seem to bother our favorite vamps. Speaking of
blood sources, it occured to me recently... what would happen if a vampire got
ahold of some diabetic's blood? Say, something with a glucose (sugar) level of
600 or so? Anyone wanna see a hyper vamp? <G> -Megan

Or for that matter, a blood alcohol of oh, say .2--- think that would make
Nick a little tipsy?

This is the story by Mei Wa Kwong that appeared in the charity zine, "A Taste
of Forever," put out by myself, Kathy Whelton, and Cindy Ingram.

(It is still possible to get a copy of ToF, although the quality of the
paper/binding won't be as quite as high as it was on first issue---I can print
out a copy on the laser jet at work, have it bound at Kinko's, and send it out.
Also, I can offer a PDF version on CD for a lesser cost. The printed version is
$18 and the PDF version is $10 (proceeds to go to Children's Hospital). Contact
me off-list if you're interested--this is a very nice zine, if I say so myself!)

I looked up the meaning of flowers when I read Bonnie Rutledge's
Clare series. (Of which I'd like to see more.) According to whatever
site I found Calla Lillies mean Magnificent Beauty.

>It's ok to mail me offlist about this, I need

I thought others might be interested. I have a list of bunches of
flowers combined from several web sites that I'll send to anyone who
asks.
If it's a "Western" (vs. Eastern Orthodox) funeral, I'd go with
white. That seems to be a pretty neutral flower, and I don't think
lilies come in black...
