Subject: HTF - Get FK on DVD

Hi everyone,

As you all know one of our biggest goals is getting "Forever Knight" on pro
DVD. Well, I just found another way to help us get noticed by Columbia
Tri-Star:

"Ever wonder just how important Home Theater Forum really is? Consider this:
Feedback from HTF members has resulted in studios deciding to commit certain
titles to DVD! So, post your requests to the studios here."

This is a great opportunity! I have started a thread addressing "Columbia
Tri-star" to release Forever Knight on DVD. Please add all of your names and
comments to this post (copy and paste into your browser):

http://www.hometheaterforum.com/htforum/showthread.php?s=3ec9fa71372c384f7b5

Before posting you must register here:

http://www.hometheaterforum.com/htforum/register.php?s=bd273728eae1639072571

Just follow the quick and easy steps. It won't even take 5 min. After this
you must wait for their approval e-mail and then you can add your post to my
thread. It would be awesome if everyone reading this message could take the
little bit of time to add their names. With enough people adding their
request, maybe Columbia Tri-star will notice.

Thank you for reading,
Kristin

Kristen is correct. I've been a member at HTF for a
couple of years, and I know that studio execs do often
read the HTF website and they frequently have online
chats with studio execs. I've seen transcripts from
past Columbia Tristar chats in which the studio stated
that it was waiting for the market to pick up before
releasing any TV shows to DVD ... that position seems
to be changing now. Incidentally, someone had posted
a request on HTF for FK on DVD sometime last year and
mentioned that J. Parriott had approached C/T about
releasing it to DVD and they refused.

A bit of info on HTF ... you do have to register (no
nicknames are allowed). This is a great place to
request FK on DVD (and for DVD info in general), but
be aware that a sudden large quantity of posts by new
members may be seen as a fanclub campaign and
disregarded. I thought it important to mention this
because something similar happened last year in a poll
thread that someone was compiling on TV shows that
folks would like to see on DVD. There was a flurry of
posts by Melrose Place fans who signed on just to post
and it was generally disregarded (your posts are
numbered so how many times you've posted and when you
joined is available for everyone to see). All in all,
HTF is probably, IMO, the best route to convincing C/T
to release it on DVD. I'm hoping that FK's chances for
a DVD release will be helped by the new DVD release of
Nick Knight that's scheduled for March.

I'm looking for a picture of Catherine Disher that I've seen somewhere online
(besides Cousin Raven's site >waves!!<). I'm assuming that it was a publicity
photo of her... she's wearing black and it looks almost like a drawing. She is
very pretty in this photo (one of the best I've ever seen of her), and probably
around second season FK.
As I said, Cousin Raven has it on her site, but it is part of a bigger picture
(the Unholy Trinity). The one I'm looking for is just of CD.
 Thanks!!!

There is another angle that the studio is missing here... The window of
opportunity for making money on DVD's of any TV series will soon be closing..
although still on the expensive side, DVD recording devices are on the market
and the way things are going.. within two to three years they will be become
affordable and more commonplace. When that is done, there is nothing
stopping people from copying their favorite TV shows to DVD in their own
home. Sure.. you dont get the DVD extras.. but with an effort from fandom, I
would bet that the missing minutes cut from 1st season episodes will be
available, as well as copies of Blooper reel, etc.

I just found out that Nick Knight the "Rick
Springfield" pilot movie is out in stores NOW!

It was only $4.99! Look for it in your local "Under
$10" bins!

My best friend bought it in Delaware over the
weekend! I can't believe it's $4.99!

But NICK KNIGHT ****HAS**** been out on DVD and for quite a while. This has
been mentioned several times by several different people (I don't mean to
shout, but it has been ;-) ) I have several of them dug out of bargain bins.
There's been quite a few offered on eBay. These are legal DVDs. The release
is nothing new. A different company may be releasing it, but it has been out
on DVD <g> So I don't see how that would affect getting the series out on DVD
as the movie IS available.

There's only one problem with this argument....

Video tapes have been available for years and yet tv shows have been popular
on video. I'm afraid if enough people used the above argument, then TPTB
will start cracking the whip and force fans to stop sharing the episodes and
other things we have available to us among ourselves.

I know Highlander videos, professional produced, were VERY popular with
Highlander fans. The same goes for Dark Shadows, Star Trek, etc.

However, please do write letters, post messages, campaign for FK on DVD.

I'm well aware that there is a version of Nick Knight
already on DVD, however that version seems to be OOP
and copies are not always available at B&M stores,
even in the bargain bin. The fact that another
studio/distributor is releasing it indicates that they
think there's a market for it and these same folks may
be willing to do a DVD release of FK. One thing
doesn't necessarily lead to another, but, in this
case, it doesn't hurt <g>.
