Once upon a time FORKNI-L seemed blessed with an
almost inordinate number of members who were
librarians. I'm hoping that might still be true. If
you ARE a librarian, please contact me off-list. I've
some questions that an FK loving librarian might be
able to assist me with.

Oddly enough, my real name is 0% compatible with Nick and ranks very low with
all the other cast names. However my email name Dynojet does somewhat better,
while my foreverfran name scores highest with nearly everyone ranging from
29% (Nick) to 68% (Vachon.)

Is there ANYONE who's compatibility with Nick is higher than the others?
Seems rather strange that everyone so far has the lowest compatibilty with
Nick.
Myself included, regardless of how I put my name in.

Same here. Seems poor ol' Nicky isn't compatible with anyone. Methinks I
smell a nefarious plot here. Must be LaCroix' doing. <g> Or no, wait,
wasn't it Divia who trying to isolate her Daddy's/son's offspring?

and we would like to believe we have the monopoly on complicated political
situations.

I read somewhere that the Knights Templer and other groups not only
disapproved but actively worked against this so called peace proposal.
They felt or so they said Jerusalem would be impossible to hold and
defend.

Now if you were a crusader and believed you had been fighting for the
greater good to free the Holy Land, then found out that the powers
that be didn't want it freed you might, like Nick, become quite
bitter and angry . Nick was in his early twenties when he was sent to the
crusades, He was in his thirties, a middle aged man in those days, when he
met up with LaCroix in Paris in 1228. (Weren't the peace talks being
conducted in Paris?) With all that going on around him, it is very
understandable why he had lost his faith . He must have felt he had
wasted a whole life time fighting in a senseless war.

As Nick Knight, he's only 17.5% compatible with Lucien LaCroix; as Nicolas
de Brabant, he goes up to 54%.

And of course, Natalie Lambert is 49.5% compatible with... Screed. <claps

Subject: Re: A Deal that might have been (was Re: Nick's Crusade?)

Hi Everyone:

In response to Debbie's comments....

1.) On the political situation: Oh, this
situation was brewing well before the First
Crusade (a "little" mess called the Investiture
Controversy)--between the Popes and the monarchs
of Europe. Anything the Hohenstaufen (sp?) did,
the Popes were going to oppose. (Frederick II
was excommunicated out of this situation.)

2.) As for Nick... I'm sure he had questions
about why God had deserted the Crusaders when
they were so close to taking Jerusalem (not to
mention the political leaders' line of garbage
for that manuever.) Given that he probably felt
that he had no part in that whole affair anyway,
but was compelled to be there by DelaBarre's
treachery--he wanted to make something out of the
whole mess in terms of redeeming the Holy City
(and himself in the process). When that didn't
happen, he might have gone numb. I think that if
he hadn't run into Janette, things might have
gone differently (but we'll never know, now will
we?) Once he became a vampire, then I think he
forgot the way for a while. This is why the
encounter with Jeanne d'Arc in "For I Have
Sinned" is such a big deal. She reminds him that
God hadn't forgotten him and of course, he starts
to question the dark path.

Thanks everyone. Back to you.

Sincerely,

David

Nick and Urs were my lows, with LaCroix, Natalie, and Vachon being highest.
The thing that perturbs me, though, is that NONE of my 'compatabilities' were
more than 70%, but when Katie LaCroix put hers in, they were all in the 80's and
90's. Is someone trying to tell me something here?

Okay, so here was my top three . . .

Vachon 76%

LaCroix 75.5%

Nat 75%

And the lowest one was Nick (37%). Poor Nick. Doesn't seem to be compatible
with that many people . . .

Oh my god! And I always thought I was a diehard Knightie.
Turns out I have more compatibility with LaCroix than
with Nick. So I've been a hidden cousin all this time and
didn't even know about it.

I should see a psychiatrist. This is awful.

Well, as expected, I would be pretty compatible with everyone but Nick and
Urs. I tend to prefer hanging with people who are happy with who and what

Nick 45%
LaCroix 83.5% (You betchya! <G>)
Nat 83%
Janette 72.5%
Vachon 84% (Bit of a surprise there. Maybe I have closet Vaq tendencies.

Schanke 73.5%
Tracy 74.5%

I own one of those. I bought it last year at a KtK
auction. It is gold and a real matchbook with real
matches inside of it. I couldn't find the one you
mentioned on ebay but if the description doesn't fit the
image (or if there is no image at all,) it might be a
fake.

Unlikely-- remember that opposites attract, which may be why I so 'compatable'
with LaCroix. (Who reminds me of my older brother, in a lot of ways. I get
along with him, too.:) )
