-FK/Stuart Little - in which the cute widdle talking mouse frantically tries
to hide from the cute widdle carouche
-FK/Martha Stewart Living - in which the Raven turns pastel and Natalie's
orange walls are finally taken care of
-FK/Rocky Horror Picture Show - in which LaCroix, Vachon, Janette and Urs
show Nick and Nat how to "don't dream it, be it!"
-FK/Tootsie - in which Schanke goes undercover as a woman and finds the
entire male population of Toronto flinging itself at his feet
-FK/American Pie - don't miss the scene where Nick gets "friendly" with a
blood sausage!

Any others?

Oh, I agree with the cap, especially when she flips the
visor. Makes her look extra cute.

Definitely, as soon as school is over I'll be at it, if
only to rid my head from all the stories that are racing
through it. Believe me, sometimes my brain feels like it
is going to burst from all the different fics fighting
for space in there, but somehow I managed to arrange them
in a line up and as soon as I find the time, I'll spit
them out one by one. I think for the next one, there is a
tie between a Natalie story (she thought I owed her big
since I didn't include her in my last story and she kept
pouting until I agreed to put her first) and a UF fic
(because the UF loop ,too, is constantly pouting) ;)

Lets hope it works out. How about you? Anything new in
store?

OK, Carla has had her little fingers slapped enough
this week. :-) First, I screw up and mention the
tapes for sale on ebay, and now this. Sigh....I think
I'm going to go hide in a nice, dark, dank crypt and
sulk.

Of *course* I should know better... reason
momemtarily escaped - I keep getting ads for "The
Scorpion King" popping up on my mail, which made me
think of the whole situation, and I just plumb forgot
about the rules.

It's a good idea, though, and I did get an email
offlist from someone who's already done one. I'll
have to content myself with that.

All in all, it's been a pretty cruddy month (in real
life, too...), and gee, there's still 20 days left to

Interesting story idea, though, without crossing over directly with
the Mummy, I can see how you can tie a story to egyptology

Don't worry. Happened to me too the first week I was on
forkni-l. It just takes some getting used to, being on a
large list with rules which aren't all transparent, but
are necessary to keep the list going.

Yeah, I remember how I screwed up by posting something to

Don't forget, ladies & germs, that there is a backup Yahoo website,
Forkni-l (www.groups.yahoo.com/group/forkni-l). Right now, its main
reason for existence is to be available in case PSU doesn't want to
carry us anymore.

BTW, I have an FK FAQ in the Files section of this Yahoo group. It
focuses on FK characters (including a bunch of VERY obscure ones), but
Nick is one of them, so if you have questions about episodes in which we
learn certain facts about Nick, you can try checking there--I note every
episode that every factoid comes from.

Liv wrote:

I run three Yahoo lists, and am a member of many others. This is not
true--at least, not yet. Yes, Yahoogroups did unilaterally change
everyone's marketing (spam) preferences to "yes" for everything. BUT
they haven't started using the new "I want spam" preferences. I know
this because I have two different, new, IDs on Yahoo that I haven't
given out to anyone else. They've both been around for two months. One
is receiving no spam (yet), and the other is receiving very light spam
(1 message every 2 weeks or so). So, as far as I can tell, no aggressive
spamming is happening at this time.

As for privacy, don't supply anyone with information they don't need to
have. I can't think of any good reason to supply my address or phone
number to Yahoo or anyone else on the 'net that I'm not doing a
mail-order transaction with. They can't abuse info that they don't have.

I agree with a lot of the previous criticisms & comments about Yahoo:
yes, the service can be flaky (i.e. unreliable), and yes, they seem to
be considering charging for Yahoogroups "deluxe" services (how much do
you expect to get for nothing?).

Does anyone know if a survey has ever been taken or data ever compiled on how
many fans would actually be willing to buy the series on DVD? I know I have
answered a couple of questionaires but does anyone know any #'s? The
questionaires that I have answered basically asked if I would buy the dvds. I
am willing and eager to buy FK dvds if they come out but I would also be
willing to preorder them. Maybe if enough of us are willing to preorder the
series that would be a greater incentive than saying we would buy it if we
saw it on the retail shelves. Any thoughts or info?

This reminds me of some wonderful FK fanfic I encountered eons ago. As I
recall the storyline was that Nat loved a tv-show and began writing fanfic
for THAT show which was called 'Eternal Champion'??? I think that the show
in the story (clearly a parody of FK) was about a werewolf???? Anyone else
remember this better than me?

Not only that, but Nick, Nat, Lacroix, and everyone else was involved in a
campaign to save "Eternal Champion"! It was a great story, and should be on the
fanfic site. It's by Tippi Blevens.

Interestingly enough, Jamie Melody Randell, who taught herself HTML while

credit for the fact that she's still in that line of work today. I remember
the site keeping a running tally of every thousand visitors. I was the

E-bay charges fees for sellers and they may have some content restrictions
as well, so an e-bay auction may not be as profitable as a private auction.
OTOH, you may get some non-list collectors bidding up the price. OTTH, you
may get everybody waiting for the last minute and thereby suppressing the
price. OTFH, you may get some non-list collectors winning and "mis-using"
what they've won (e.g. copying a script 100 times and selling it for
profit)...

If I recall, Tippi had all her fan fic pulled off the sites. Sorry. Some
professional writers feel that fan fic henders their ability to sell stories,
though I don't know what the case was in Tippi's situation.

I'm lucky as my publisher ENCOURAGES fanfic. He says he notices a surge in
the number of "hits" on my professional stories every time I post Buffy or FK
fic somewhere. But other writers are not as lucky.

Yeah... but I've been on this list in various
incarnations since not long after it started!
(early-mid 90's.) Gaylin/Jasmine brought me across,
and we worked together in '93, when she got me hooked
on the show in the first place, and we watched it
together in the original airing on CBS at 1am. (Yes,
many times we watched it live instead of recording and
watching next day.... and in to work by 7 or 8am!)
(FYI newbies - Gaylin did the very First Unofficial
Forever Knight web site.)

OK, I'm old. :-) Swiss cheese has replaced the

Well, I'm not sure of the actual legality and can't speak for every writer. Some
do say "do not archive without my permission" but I know when I say that, I do
not mean the individual just wanting a copy for themselves, I mean on webpages
and such. Other writers may feel differently, but I have no problem with it as
long as the story isn't reposted or on a webpage without my permission and
handled off-list. (In other words no, "I have this" or "if anyone else wants a
copy, let me know" handled on-list)

Problem: some items, especially the scripts, are technically copyright

McL, not nearly as paranoid in real life as I have to be here. :)

Last night on Law & Order (new ep--not a re-run) I thought the person playing
Chris Cody looked a bit like Blu Mankuma, although it clearly was not him.
Did not tape the credits. Does Blu Mankuma have any relatives who are also in
the acting profession?

The costs for an E-bay auction are nominal and given the generosity of our
group, I'm sure someone would be willing to underwrite them .

As for the uncertainties of making the auction publicly known, E-bay does
have the facility for 'private' auctions - anyone bidding would have to make
themselves known to the seller and be verified before being able to bid.

Drawback - anyone who does Not have internet access would be at a great
disadvantage, if not excluded entirely. People who have e-mail only, either
through work or an educational facility, would have to find someone to bid
for them, or the seller would have to keep track of these people separately,
in which case we're right back where we started.
If E-bay is still a consideration, perhaps it would be good to ask all the
bidders from the last auction, or two, if they have internet access and are
willing to register with E-bay.

Just an idea

Subject: gratuitous scene in FK

Someone wrote in recently that there was an "extra" scene in "For I Have Sinned"
that showed two people walking in the woods just before Nick went to see
Father Rochefort. I could not find this scene even though I checked the old
Sci-fi tape, the new Sci-fi tape, and the Canadian version. Did I get the
episode wrong?

Also, did anyone else notice that the priest is sometimes Father Roquefort and
sometimes Father Rochefort? Or do I need to get my hearing checked?

Damn, and I thought I've finally found a newbie to
entertain her with my forkni-l memories. Well, looks like
the truth is undeniable: no matter how much time passes,
I'll always be a fledgling compared to the elders from
the 90s.(I think Nick suffers the same thing with
LaCroix.)

Huh! Is that one of the reasons? I always wondered why writers would pull
their fic! It always saddens me terribly when that happens, and I couldn't, for
the life of me, figure out why it would be done. I thought maybe they were mad
about something, or fell *really* out of love with the fandom or something. It
is a little comforting to have a better reason than I could come up with, but it
still makes me sad. I guess the repressed "archivist" in me hates the idea that
such stories are no longer easily available to us. You can imagine how I feel
about the burning of the Alexandrian Library -- one of the worst tragedies in
history!! "g"

I've been contemplating that ever since I saw the episode with
Sherriff Donner's twelve-step program for recovering werewolves.
Anybody want to write it?

Sorry Lisa if this is long-winded)
When eBay was first discussed as a possibility regarding our last KtK auction
I decided that it was not the best way to go for the reason Lisa has stated.
also many other items carry images, etc of Fk characters.I felt that it might
hurt the very people that were kind enough and still are :) kind enough to
contribute items to the cause.
something i certainly would never want to happen.
We have to date had ten KtK auctions that have raised money to place Ads.
They have all for the most part been highly sucessful.Perhaps there are
better ways to have auctions, such as eBay, but I first and foremost want to
protect not only the contributors, but FK fandom by having the auctions
contained in a private forum.
I hope you all understand.I will do my best to work with you all as far as
times/dates/etc for the next auction, and even see if we can work out other
details to give those without computer acess on certain days to leave bids
with others, but I think that its best that we leave the way the auctions
have been to date, advertised as is.
all my very best to you all,
susan

When I saw the subject, I thought it was going to be
the one from LA earlier this week...
