 >>1) How do the vampires get their blood? Do they absorb it into their body
or does it go through the digestive tract (and, if so, do they need to...
um... go to the bathroom<<

I always like to look to the natural world for analogies. Hummingbirds have
a liquid diet, but never urinate. So, it's possible!! And yes, it goes
through the digestive tract. Remember Nat giving a transfusion directly to
Nick's *stomach* in Night in Question?

Your humble & obedient servant,

You know you've been watching too much Forever Knight when you glance at a
can of Folgers 'Classic Roast', mis-read it as 'Garlic Roast' and think,
"Man, I hope Tracy never got her hands on that stuff!"
-Megan (who has watched/read/thought about FK *WAY* too
much of late)

"Eternal nights too short,
How quickly melt away,
With all the love we shared once,
Forever in a day."

Subject: Another Update on KC

Hello everyone, I hope that you are all well. I just thought I'd pass on
an update on KC.
She has a head cold and sore throat right now. Understand that with her
immune system having been all but destroyed by the chemotherapy, this is
not unusual, but it is also very bad. Her doctor is talking about
hospitalizing her, should she get any worse.
Now for the bad news.
The cancer has spread to her lymph system. In addition, it is what they
are calling an 'aggressive cancer'. This means that the traditional
treatments (surgery/radiation/chemotherapy) will only slow it down, not
cure it. But the down side to that is that she will be sick the entire
time.
So KC has opted not to go with them. She wants to be able to enjoy
whatever time she has left.
Her doctor said that without treatment (or a miracle), she has less than
two years left.
She is researching some alternative treatments outside of the U.S., but
those she has to come up with the money for on her own (they won't even
discuss treatment, unless she has the money up front) and with their
finances as bad as they are, that will be difficult at best.
Her doctor is also looking into a clinical trials that starts in January
for her. But, again, she has to have the money up front for that. They
do not have health insurance and the agencies paying for the chemotherapy
do not pay for alternative treatments (including clinical trials).
The good news is that her spirits are good. I believe her strong faith in
God has made a tremendous difference in her outlook.
Please keep all of us in prayer (or good thoughts, or whatever), as this
is extremely difficult.
Thanks to everyone that has sent us encouraging e-mails. You are all
wonderful!
Best wishes to all.

Please give KC my prayers for her.
I have always enjoyed her writings.
I will keep her in my thoughts.

Shana, please tell KC that she will be in my thoughts. It is truly a sad
time. JudyL
