Subject: Arabian Knight web link

Since I've been having problems posting the chapters and have heard from some
folks that not all the parts are getting through to them, I've decided to
simply direct everyone to my website to read the rest of the story. The
address is below in my sig. There's also a cover I created that goes with the
story.

Sorry for being such a wimp when it comes to posting, but this list thing is
new to me and it's not as simple as I would like. I did try to send part 6
earlier today, but it simply vanished into limbo, probably because of the
"adult:" header. At any rate, I give up posting for now. Maybe I'll try it
again later with something much shorter.

Subject: An opportunity to promote FK

I have amazing news. My family and I are selected by
Television Preview, a nationwide television research
service, to evaluate not-yet released television material
for nationwide broadcast. They’ve sent us tickets to attend
a night of viewing and evaluating future TV programs. Since
this is quite a surprise for all of us, and a new
experience, we don’t know what to expect. But I’m strongly
hoping that there will be some TPTB representatives present
with whom I can talk about FK. If they allow chatting after
the viewing, I’ll definitely try to raise the issue. I’m
planning to wear something with the FK logo anyway so that
if I don’t get the chance to talk to anyone, at least I
broadcast the message visually.

Wish me luck. This might be a small opportunity but I’m
planning to make the most of it. And if you have any
suggestions/advice, I'd be glad to hear them.

Cheers
Sunny

Hi Sunny!

That is so great! Please do tell them about how much the fans still want FK!
I'm sending some ideas your way off-list. When is this event?

Hi all,

My apologies to those who tried to use the form to answer the question of
the week, and found it not working. I'm not sure why it wasn't working (I
have gotten replies from people for who it worked) but for those do have
trouble with it I have added an e-mail link above the form so you can still
answer.

Thanks
Trace

Hmm, maybe a custom-embroidered shirt with the SOS FK logo, or the FK
Fanatic design?

I can give pricing info if you find something you want. That goes for anyone
else who wants a design!

For all who ordered a war towel, did they arrive ok? I've only heard back from
one person, and I know I sent out more than 7 orders, so I'm beginning to
wonder...

Subject: Allert, Showcase cancelled Fk!!!

I'm writing this with a bleeding heart. Any Canadian fans
who get Showcase, have you noticed that they have removed
FK from their fall lineup? Beginning September 1th, there
will be no more FK on any of the channels in Vancouver BC.
Is that the case for all Canada?

I feel like loosing the battle, as if we're finally brought
down to our knees, with things constantly getting worst
instead of better. Is this what the end feels like?

Quite right. Starting in Sept. Due South will be in the FK slot and FK is
not scheduled at all. Typical Showcase behavior.

Congratulations, Sunny. I also received those twice, but unfortunately was
unable to attend either time. I'm hoping that they keep me on their mailing
list and that the next date they choose will be a time when I don't have to be
out of town or somewhere else. I'd love to put in my FK two cents.

I checked again and Black Harbour is gone as well. No more Ger on Showcase
at all. Wouldn't hurt to blitz them with complaints.

Don't worry, it'll eventually be back. Showcase is owned by Alliance
Atlantis, who in their various corporate forms were the producers (or
part-producers) of almost all the shows that Showcase broadcasts. That's why
we were able to see FK on the air here for so long when it wasn't being shown
in the U.S.

FK, like other Alliance Atlantis shows, will be back on Showcase after a
"rest". All their shows come back in rotation (for example, I see they've
started running North of 60 again). However, it wouldn't hurt to write a
letter to Showcase saying how disappointed you are that it's been taken off
the air. At the very least, it lets them know that people were
watching...and enjoying...the show.

A message from Lynne Ackerman in Toronto (or, as we like to call it,
"Hollywood North"). Via e-mail: lynnea212@a.......

Subject: Inca and Spaniard facts

I just learned in Anthropology class that Incans have bigger chests, hearts, and
lungs to compensate for the altitude (9,000 ft. up) *and* they have an extra
pint of blood in them. Wouldn't that mean that Vachon would have more Inca blood
in him than his own?

And another thing, when Pizarro took Cuzco (Incan capitol, 9,000 ft. up in the
mountains) they brought european women with them. None of the women could carry
babies to full term, they all spontaneously aborted them due to hypoxia (lack of
oxygen in the atmosphere) even tough the Incan women had babies like crazy, even
spanish/Incan children by spaniard men. Pizarro thought Cuzco was haunted by the
spirits of the dead Incans and petitioned the crown to move the capitol.
Finally, 80 years later, the crown agreed and they moved to Lima, on the coast.

Kinda thought these facts were neat, gave me tons of fic ideas! If anyone's
bitten by the fic bug about this I'd love to read what you write and archive to
the fkfanfic2 :)

One thing that tickles me is the part where Vachon and the Inca have
their first run-in in 1531. At that point, Pizarro and his men were still
trekking through Incan territory toward the capital. Atahualpa had them
watched, but ignored them as a small threat in comparison to the civil
war with his half-brother. It was November 1532 before the Spaniards
reached as far south as Cajamarca, where the conquistadors captured
Atahualpa, etc. This is significantly northwest of the Lake Titicaca
region where Pizarro's supposedly laying an ambush as mentioned in the
flashback, probably a thousand miles or so, at the opposite end of modern
Peru. That's some serious scouting Vachon was supposed to do!!!! Okay,
maybe he *thought* he was near Lake Titicaca, but he was really, really
lost! He should have stopped and asked for directions!

for directions
