LOL! Oh, I love this take on it! Frankly, I didn't get enough of a feel of
the mortal Richard to know whether *I* liked him or not. This is one ep
where I'm alternately annoyed at Nat and sympathetic for her. Annoyed,
because although she's pretty hard on Nick when he acts like a vampire (even
mildly), she changes her tune PDQ when it's her brother, doesn't she?
Sympathetic, because Richard is the last blood-relative she has.

I don't think Nick and Richard would ever 'bond', but I think they would get
along on a casual basis.

Then he's more magnanimous than Nick. Remember how ticked Nick was when ol'
LC went for *his* sister???

Oh pleeeease! ;-) Nat *has* a nice job, she doesn't *need* to sell herself
to the highest bidder. If she can't have Nick, I say she should just
continue to bag 'em and tag em' as she feels the urge. After all, that's how
she met Nick.

It's been a weird couple of days for me~ lots of FK alumni sightings.
Katherine Long (Divia) was on Goosebumps two days in a row; Nigel
Bennett was on a bizarro movie called Synapse; John Kapelos was on
Diagnosis Murder tonight, as Anita pointed out and the Blu
Mankuma(?)<sorry if I get that wrong~ I feel lousy right now and haven't
double checked his name> (Joe Reese) was on the X-Files on FX this
afternoon!
I should get sick more often~ it's the only time I have to watch TV and
see all these wonderful actors!

This article might provide some interesting research for fic writers in the
group. Wonder if this would be more palatable than Natalie's protein
shakes?

SOUTH AFRICA OKS BLOOD SUBSTITUTE
A product that can emulate the work of red blood cells, transporting oxygen
throughout the body, has been approved for use in South Africa, making it
the first human "blood substitute" available anywhere in the world, the
products' developers announced.

Yes, which shows she's a real person, not a saint. A saint would be
utterly boring. Just as LaCroix would be utterly boring if he were totally
evil.

It's one of the things I like best about the show. Of the major
characters, none of the good characters are 100% good, and none of the evil
(if you see it that way) characters are 100% evil.

True, I have a pretty hard time seeing anything not evil about
Divia. That's why I said, "Of the major characters....".

Come to think of it, I take it back about Divia. Even Divia, for a moment
at the end, is just a vulnerable little girl, rather than something
terribly evil.

And even LaCroix, who I think of as an evil character for the most part,
momentarily forgets all of his instincts for self-preservation, and starts
to go to help his child.

I have to go along with you on that one, Margie,

Like it or not <g> I have often sensed the good in Uncle and the bad in Nick.
I agree that things would have been real boring if good and evil were cut
along black and white lines with no grey. It is the grey that makes things
more interesting~~

I never saw Divia's pleas as that of a vulnerable
girl, but rather as an attempt to manipulate LC. What
do you think would have happened had LC taken pity on
Divia and saved her?

Personally, I don't think she would have shown the
tiniest bit of gratitude or affection for LC. I think
she would have considered him weak and finished him
off at that point.

I absolutely love the way that sounds (ROFL :-)). Does anybody see her like
she is or would soon become bitter and take her frustration out by bagging
and tagging bodies ? Who knows, I had to bag and tag *objects* a while ago
and it made me feel awfully frustrated.

Somehow I think that if Nick left, it would be difficult for Natalie to just
stop being interested in vampire cases (supposing she could keep her
memories and that she could get over the heartbreak). I know fanfic often
describes her as being better with handling dead people than live ones. Does
that appear anywhere in the series ?

She could also get into the investigative business herself as far as i
interpret her character. Dr. Natalie Lambert, human enforcerer with a
shoulder for the lonely to cry on ?

Please, do you know a website with FK fictions in French? I have to practice
French at the week-end, but I would like to have my FK fix at the same time.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Subject: Re: What If Richard Lambert.......

First, Richard would know Nick through work.
I also think he would notice how Nick looked at
his sister when they were together. How he seem
to brighten up a little, maybe smile more.
And he might also see how his sister reacted
to Nick. Maybe things only a sibling might
notice.

He would want to get to know Nick a little better.
After trying, he might get a little suspicious of Nick
not acting like a regular type. Refusing lunch invitations,
etc., things one might do to get to know someone better.

If he got to close to figuring out Nick's secret, either
Nick or Nat would have to step in and try to throw him
off the track. This would be for his and his family's own safety.

As to whether Nick was good enough, I would think he would
think that no one was good enough for his sister.
Would he approve? If Nick made Nat happy, he would
not want to stand in her way. Any reservations he would
keep to himself, but would keep a close eye on how she was treated.
