You know, I never thought of this before...were the needles made of wood?
How scary for Nick that must have been. Pincushioned by miniature stakes!
<eg

>Our hero Nick
Yes, hes is that. ; D

Lol! You mean she didn't hug the old guy?<eg>

Tell me about it. Darn that Natalie is a drag!

Daydreams, daydreams...sigh. I could still kick the Raven-haired beauty for
having given him up back in the Renaissance. And they make fun of
*blonde's* intelligence...

I think she could have portrayed the Jolly Green Giant's not so Jolly sister
after witnessing that scene.

You ever had one of those things stuck into you? I swear, you are too
**scared** to even twitch, let alone move. :)

He must have remembered. Or why else would he wait for her to arrive?

Oh, yes! <g> Dark Knight rather showed that Schanke likes to be 'in
charge'. Remember that he was rather jealous of Nicholas because Nick
always seemed to be several steps ahead of him.

<< 1. Do you think if Nick had done his thing with Janette (this time) it

nah..... who's to say that he hasn't been 'doing his thing' when we aren't
there to watch?

 2. Do you think Nat was jealous when she walked in and caught Nick with
 Janette?
Embarrassed for sure. Jealous, maybe. I'm not convinced that, at this point
in the series, her interest was romantic. I do think she was curious just
*what* she had walked in on!

 3. Do you think the acupuncture needle paralyzed Nick because he is somehow
more 'human' than the other vampires due to his search for redemption?
not necessarily. We don't see whether or not other vampires are also
susceptible to that particular nerve being stimulated but I would think that
they are.

 4. Do you think the old man actually saw LaCroix, or that Janette helped him
 'remember'?
I think he did see LaCroix and at first was lumping all vampires in one
group.... a vampire killed my mother, you are a vampire, therefore I will
kill you (that sort of logic) It was not until he was convinced that he had
the *wrong* vampire that he remembered there was more than one present

 5. Do you think Schanke enjoyed being in charge of the investigation,
despite the fact that he didn't turn up anything useful?

oh yeah... Schanke doesn't get much respect, and I think he had great fun
being the one in charge!

Doing an Incubus sequel, and I'm looking for any uplifting songs,
lyrics/titles---(not sure whether I'm just going to mention them or have the
entire songs included yet)---preferably of Old French origin, but not
necessary, modern pop will do. Religious would be okay. NOT about mortal
love--this is'nt an N&N tale.<g> To give you an idea what I'm looking for,
picture someone who is in love with life and just has to ing about it.

Embarrassed for sure, but she did have her sights on him from night one. We
saw this on Only the Lonely, where she caressed his comatose face. Then
later, after telling him her interest was only professional curiousity, we
get flashforwarded to present day where she speaks that one word that tells
all! lol!

I think Nat's interest in Nick was romantic from the first time he woke up
on her slab (Golly, how could that *not* be romantic? <G>). She's certainly
attracted to him based on her "This isn't too bad. Not bad at all"
(paraphrased) comment when she sees him. But by the time she tells him that
he's not evil, I've always thoguht she was seriously hooked. Therefore, I
think there was a good deal of jealousy in her reaction to seeing Nick and
Janette.

Kyer,

I don't have any old French songs, but the first song that came to mind, of
all things, was "The 59th Street Bridge Song (Feelin' Groovy)" by Simon and
Garfunkel.

Or "Oh, What a Beautiful Morning" form "Oklahoma!". Not exactly modern
pop, but it would fit the bill I think.

Or maybe "Morning has Broken" by Cat Stevens or "Good Day Sunshine" by the
Beatles.

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a beta reader for a couple of stories. They are both
part of a series, numbers two and three. They stand on their own for
the most part, although a short summery of previous events might help.
Sizewise, they are about 120k and 70k.

If anyone would like to look at one or both of them, or would like more
information, please contact me off list.

Thanks in advance,
Jenieve

Always, but trying to suppress it.

No -- 'cos the old guy dipped the needle in curare.

hmmmm.... Actually, I think Screed may have sold LaCroix's haircut that week
at the all night swap meet.

Say, maybe the Ratsie Wot Kilt Screed was PLANTED in revenge - a plot that
got out of hand???<wRPg>

I don't think that you're reaching with this idea at all. I always
thought that it was a joke as well, one brought on by plenty of wine
and a good dose of arrogance.

Thanks Raven! Great job (as usual ;-)

1. Do you think if Nick had done his thing with Janette (this time) it would
have changed the future episodes at all?
If you mean in his relationship with Natalie, no, I don't. At this point in
the series, neither N&N has admitted to being in love -- IMO, not even to
themselves - yet! When Nick and Janette do "do their thing" in a later ep,
Nick apologizes for "using Janette".

2. Do you think Nat was jealous when she walked in and caught Nick with
Janette?
No, and for the same reason cited above. To me, her expression is one of
normal, human embarrassment, not jealousy. Ditto Nick. Now if Natalie could
only have been five minutes later.......whew........too hot to handle!

3. Do you think the acupuncture needle paralyzed Nick because he is somehow
more 'human' than the other vampires due to his search for redemption?
No, I think it would have worked on any vampire; again, my opinion since the
ep doesn't let us know.

4. Do you think the old man actually saw LaCroix, or that Janette helped him
'remember'?
I find it hard to believe that the old man blamed Nick all these years if he
had seen LaCroix do it. The only explanation would be that Janette helped.

5. Do you think Schanke enjoyed being in charge of the investigation,
despite the fact that he didn't turn up anything useful?
Of course he enjoyed it! One of Schank's complaints throughout the series is
that he gets no respect. I though Schank really did well taking over the
operation and he earned some respect from Stonetree, too.

IMO, she touched his face because it wasn't supposed to have had one since it
was supposed to have been hamburger. Later, when she speaks that one word, I
think it was because hind sight is 20 20!!

There are several times early in the series that Nat actually encourages Nick
to follow his heart.

I totally agree that Natalie may have always been in love with Nick (who
could resist?), but I think she would not admit it -- even to herself --
especially in the early part of the series.

I love reading everyone's opinions!

Oh, yes. Definately.

3. Do you think the acupuncture needle paralyzed Nick because he is somehow

Probably. Nick was effectively on a starvation diet at the time, so he was
weaker than most vampires.

4. Do you think the old man actually saw LaCroix, or that Janette helped him
'remember'? I think the old man did see LC, but time and the fact that Nick
was the most available vampire to take out his revenge on caused the old man
to recall the event the way he did.

5. Do you think Schanke enjoyed being in charge of the investigation,

Yes.

Uh uh. She may have been surprised that he wasn't hamburger, but that glint
in her eyes was definitely saying: "I *like* what I see! Darn it, he would
have to be dead, though!" And lest you think my judgement is clouded (ie.
writing from the perspective of a love-struck Knightie), I never thought
Nicholas was particularly good looking until I saw Killer Instinct much
later. (I first saw the series in a swiss-cheese/mixed up sequence).

I always thought that that was her own guilt complex coming out. She didn't
know if he had feelings for her--since he never really expressed any--so she
gallantly pushed him towards whoever he showed interest in.
