Just to tell you that my problems with Sony go deeper than this incident
with Jean. This was, as they say, 'the straw that broke the camel's
back'.
I won't mention Jean, OHG, or any of our fan sites.
I will, however, ask for more FK merchandise and include the receipt for
the $2500.00 Entertaintment Center I returned to the store.
Thanks to all for your words of wisdom and best wishes to Jean.

How old would LC, Nick, etc. have been? I think that he would have been
younger as a mortal than Nick, who would have been younger than, say, Tracy?
I remember hearing something about ages (not sure whether it was true or
not), and they didn't live too long back then, so...? Also, would LC's
ancestry have been Germanic? He does have that blonde hair....

LC I picture around mid to late forties -- 45 - 47?
Nick -- around 33?
Tracy -- mid to late 20's?
Janette -- late 20's, early 30's?
Vachon -- around same age as Tracy?
Screed -- mid to late 30's?
Natalie -- from what I understand, she has 2 separate b-days, so I guess
that's nobody's business but the lady's "g"
Schanke -- around same age as Screed? (but I anticipate that that is all
they share! "g" Well, okay -- and an appreciation for their munchies....)

I think it's generally accepted that Nick was about 32-34 when he was brought
across, and Lacroix was in his mid-40s. Tracy is in her mid-20s.

I think it's unlikely that anyone of Germanic descent could become a general in
the Roman army. Light brown hair is not unknown among Romans; I would guess LC
is purely Roman.

I personally picture being a little younger than this, maybe mid to late 20s.
A sailor's life was NOT easy and I think he'd look older if he was in his
30s. From what I am able to determine (or remember) from the show, FK
vampires tend to look basically the same age as when they were brought
across. Screed's life would have been that of a poor diet, at least at
times, and LOTS of sun. He was probably very fair skinned as a mortal (his
eyebrows are light red), and I think would sunburn easily (even as a
mortal<wRPg>) leading to skin damage.

Of course if anyone needs the info for fanfic, since Screed's mortal age
isn't "canon," then it doesn't matter ;-)

I know what you mean. I run into a lot of people who like it, but then
when I start going on and on about it, they look at me like they think
I might be just a little obsessed. <g>

Even if, by some evil chance, TPTB do hit the fanfic sites, couldn't people
just archive stories on their hard drive and have an email request list?
Like on FORKNI-L, where people often post a request -- 'would somebody
please email me a story about such-and-such by so-and-so'.

Just my two cents, but I think this is an important point. I don't
have the actual e-mails anymore, but I seem to recall that Jean also
advertised "On Holy Ground" as a sort of fourth professional novel.
Or maybe it was other people on the list who were calling it a "pro
novel." The use of the term professional may have raised a red flag.

I only bring this up because if this is the case, the rest of the fan
fiction is probably not in much danger, as long as the authors aren't
trying to market their work as "professional," and don't make it look
too professional, either.

Just my two cents.

As the policy-setting listowner for Fkfic-l, I'd like to make it clear that
there is absolutely no requirement for a disclaimer. I, like Susan Garrett,
never use one. As she pointed out, having been told so by a copyright
lawyer, a disclaimer will _not_ prevent the copyright owners from being able
to take action if they want to.

So while I have never said a disclaimer could not be used if the poster
wishes, there is no standard and no requirement.

Actually by the time Lucius was born, there had been a Celtic element in the
Roman population for hundreds of years. Aside from Caesar's Gauls, who had
been thoroughly Romanized and by Lucius's time were even in the Senate,
there had been a large Celtic strain in the cities of Northern Italy which
by this time had been part of the Roman state for centuries.

Also, not all the Italic peoples were dark. Light brown hair (Nigel once
referred to his hair at a con as "lovely natural mouse") and blue eyes were
not unusual in Rome.

I am half Italian (my maiden name is Milillo) and my grandmother who was from
Casamassima, Italy (in the Bari region) had blond hair and blue eyes (as did
most of her ancestors, according to her), so it definitely is not far fetched
for LC to have light colored hair.

For information on managing your subscription and on listserv commands,
please see Don Fasig's page
http://www.geocities.com/Athens/7139/fk-lists.htm

1. No flames on list. FLAMERS MAY BE SET NOPOST. THE NOPOST MAY BE
PERMANENT.

2. Please don't quote more than four lines of a previous post
in replying. If you have more than one point to answer, then you may quote
the relevant four lines for that point also.

3. Limit sigs to 6 lines. This includes all information, decoration
quotations and blank lines. Your name and address count as part of
the six. If you sign your name on a separate line above the body of
text, your name and the blank line or lines between count as part of
the six line limit. If you have one of those services that insists
on putting an advertising tag on the end of posts, don't worry. I
realize you can't control that and it doesn't count as part of your
sig.

4. Please don't send to the whole list when you are only talking to the
person who wrote the post you are answering.

5. Advertising on list is on a case by case basis. Please consult the
listowners, Lisa McDavid, mclisa@m....... or Don Fasig,
phase3@g....... for permission.

6. This list is for the discussion of Forever Knight. Cast, crew, staff
and producers in connection with what they're doing now or have done in
the past are ok. Vampires in general are _NOT_ ok except in relation
to Forever Knight.

7. Off-topic posts are not allowed, no matter what they are about or
how urgent the warning may appear. If you have an off-topic post which
you think should appear on the list, ask one of the owners for permission.

8. The private lives of the cast are not a discussion topic. Occasionally
one of the fan club presidents will make an announcement, but other than
that, we leave the cast their privacy.

9. Con announcements must come from con officials or a designated
liaison and must be kept brief. Cons are only announced on list if there
is a connection to FK.

10. Only fan club presidents or other designated spokespeople may
make announcements of future projects for FK cast, crew and staff,
before said projects have been released or written about in the
media.

11. No role-playing on Forkni-l. This includes no character names as
pseudonyms or posing as a character.

12. Each subscriber is limited to five posts per day on Forkni-l.

I'll be happy to explain the reason for any of the above if asked.

Thanks!
