The source of the original post about Tristar's alledged treachery was cited as Variety Online, an electronic show business subscription service. Has anybody tried to confirm the information presented? And HOW was it presented; as a news release from Tristar, or in a showbiz rumour column? How reliable is this source? Is it an authorized electronic version of Variety, or somebodies unofficial mailing list? Is there any chance at all that the <anonymous bidder> is the REAL source of this, in an attempt to use US to knock down Tristar's asking price? As far as I could tell, everybody started screaming and yelling without asking these questions. If this turns out to be a false rumour, we may have done the cause more harm than good. Once it's confirmed, THEN is the time to get mad. YES, keep those cards and letters coming, but BE CAREFUL what you say in them. === Now to make light of a serious subject (at least I HOPE I'm joking) What if all the trouble we're having keeping FK on the air, as well as the apparent deterioration of stories this season, stems from THE ENFORCERS? Maybe the writers got a little too close to the REAL TRUTH? Or maybe too many of us fans have proved a little TOO WILLING to suspend disbelief? Do you know any fans who have just VANISHED, or who went nomail for a while and came CHANGED? Why does the number of people receiving my posts here seem to be DROPPING recently according to my acknowledgement messages? Why has no one written any FAN FIC about this possiblity? Be afraid. If you're willing to be the coordinator for your area, let me know that, too. I'm coordinating the Philadelphia area crew (four people so far!). Alora posted, and Dark Phoenix reposted with additions: If you find [a photograph of a certain TV executive], pass it along...I'll put a hex on that guy that'll make him want to stake *himself* !! >Does anyone have a voodoo doll? <veg> Seeing as I'm in Louisiana, I might could find you one <sinister grin> If you find one, pass it along...I'll put a hex on that guy that'll The <veg>s indicate that both of you were kidding around when you posted this. However, there are a few dozen people on this list who have the training and capability to make a voodoo doll (aka a poppet) or hex someone by their photograph. And I am confident that the majority of us would tell you, Don't Even Think About It. These methods are old, simple and powerful. Because destroying a thing is always easier than fixing it, such acts can produce an effect even when done by someone who doesn't know what they are doing and/or doesn't really mean it. Hexes of this sort, if not thought out completely and not done from a position of perfect cleanhanded justice, cannot be undone, produce very literal-minded and excessive results, can harm anyone connected with the target (including their pets, their families and their employees), may rebound on the sender if the target is well defended, and lay the kind of burden on your soul that Nick has been trying to atone for these hundred years. And if you are fool enough to publicly announce your intentions, the results (or any unpleasant coincidence that *looks* like a result) will give you, your friends, and other magical practitioners who don't even know you a nasty reputation. Energy workings to help the show and the people associated with it, to allow the public and TPTB to be aware of and receptive to what we are doing, to bring in support and allies, to create win-win situations for everyone, these are the kind of spells you should be doing if you do spells. You can also do a spell "to remove obstacles to a fourth season" (appropriate to do under a waning moon) PROVIDED you specify that *no one* will be harmed by the spell. Rule of thumb: if it would be unethical to perform a particular action by mundane means, it is equally unethical to do it with magic. You wouldn't joke about sending a letter bomb to a TV exec, would you? I thought not. As midnight just passes in my part of the country, I would like to wish Uncle and all my dear, dear COusins out there (and maybe even some Knighties and Nat-Packers and whatever you may be) a Happy Valentine's Day Massacre, albeit 67 years post the original. For those of you who know not what I speak of, the St. Valentine's Day Massacre occurred in Chicago, February 14, 1929. It was a bloody battle upon the chessboard of rival gangs: seven members of one faction (names are not important) dressed up as the trusted, and mostly here corrupt, members of law enforcement. It was when approached by four rivals that they opened fire into the crowd around them, killing the four and injuring or killing many, many more innocents. And so goes life and death. It was a maneuver Uncle would have been proud of, ironic in its timing and crushing in its method. And so I leave you now to ponder this, the other meaning of Florist's Day, of Confectioner's Day, of the day a saint died. Farewell, my friends, and may you sleep as well as you can. I was just watching the (rather fuzzy, I NEED to get cable and a new VCR) tape I made of Outer Limits from Saturday, 2/10 and who should appear but Blu Mankuma (Captain Joe Reese). He's the captain of a spaceship encountered by the stars of the ep. It's a small part, only a few lines, but I know how determined/dedicated/fanatical (is that even a word?) some of you are in getting the complete bodies of work of actors you like. The episode is "Dark Matters" (I think the 12th ep. of this season) I'm sure it will be repeated sometime over the next few months. If anyone is interested, I'll post (or e-mail) the repeat date when I find out what it is. Whether you know it yet or not. Someone can lead you to the clues we need to figure out this mysterious would-be FK benefactor. I knew a guy who was second in command in my alma mater's audiovisual department in downstate NY. Nice, unassuming, sprung for brunch one morning when I was broke. One day, I'm going to check out a video camera. The guy and I get to talking like usual. He mentions "his moonlighting" job casually, as the reason he brought the fancy suit hanging up in the office to work. Guess what his moonlighting job was? Running a projector for private screenings. *In the home of Lawrence Tisch.* Yes, that's right. *As in CBS.* As in Crimetime After Primetime. The point is: It doesn't matter how tenuous. It doesn't matter how old. (It does matter if you don't even know their last name :(( ) It doesn't matter how long it's been. A contact is a contact. Yes, you're asking a favor. But some of those connections are going to hit pay dirt, closer than you could ever have gotten on your own. Open those old yearbooks. Read those "Alumni Notes". Shake your minds and memories upside down. Everybody knows somebody, no matter how tangential. Friends, relatives, neighbors, coworkers. They may not even think of it at that exact moment. But get them thinking. If they don't know somebody, they may know somebody who *does* know somebody. If they can't "get the job done", perhaps they'll send you to someone else who may. TriStar turned down a fair offer. A *more* than fair offer. This is controversy. *This is news.* We're David. They're Goliath. Make it hot (but politely) for TriStar with SONY. *I* want the head of *Goliath*. <G> Iremi is right. We shouldn't have to be treated like beggars. We've proven ourselves to be a viable force here. We are the *consumers*, not "the great unwashed" who don't even know the difference between an actor and the character they play. I'm sick of being treated like that by my local syndie.
