They were one once. It depends on the individual vampire how much this means to him or her. To LaCroix, it's practically meaningless. To Nick, it means a great deal.>> This and the rest of Leslie GrantSmith's excellent post made me think of yet another angle on the question, "How can vampires think of mortals as cattle when they used to be mortal themselves?" How many people do you know that hate children? Can't stand to be around them, despise them, have no concern for their needs and wishes? Every one of those people was once a child. They *outgrew* being children and think adults are better than children. They refuse to remember or recognize anything they as adults have or once had in common with actual living children. If they ever had to be children again themselves, they would be horrified. Very few adults actually respect children as children, or appreciate them in spite of their physical and mental limitations compared to adults. Adults have a hard time remembering what it was like to be a child, even when they want to. The older one gets, the harder it is to remember. And there are plenty of societies in which adults see nothing wrong with feeding off other people's children, or even their own, not literally but by exploiting their labor and their bodies. There are photos and possibly interesting information under most of the index headings. Oh -- and be sure to check out "About our President, Rod Perth." Definite dartboard potential there. Jon Feltheimer is going to stay on for a year as a past president or something. There is some information there on Rod's "platform" as president, and a quote or two, if I remember right. I've just come back from spending a weekend in Cornwall and whilst I was there visited Animal World (a nineties zoo), which participates in the Adopt an animal scheme. Upon entering the animals at night section I immediately fell in love with all the little cutesy bats, they are fruit bats and are currently in danger of extinction (just like our own Nick (sniff, sniff). Anyways to cut a long story short I have adopted a bat and thus named him "Nicolas Knight" so if anyone finds themself in Cornwall stop in and say hello. I'm trying to entice my friends and family to adopt the rest of the family and name them LaCroix, Janette et al, wouldn't that be fun? She's so right -- there are two things _they_ have to believe -- that *we* have to believe -- 1) the movement to save Forever Knight is growing and 2) we won't go away... I believe both -- Every day someone meets a new fan, _makes_ a new fan and we find out more about how this crazy TV business operates. When this whole campaign started ***we said we were in for the long haul*** -- the show took a year to bring back before -- fans of other show have worked longer. The set has been struck before and rebuilt, shows have been canceled and called "dead" before and just as mysteriously revived. I'm willing to be polite, but I'm not so easy to call off once I'm committed -- I suspect a lot of you are like me... (Just remember we have the immortals on _our_ side...) I understand the request to stop any inappropriate activity -- if that was what was happening -- but it is always highly _appropriate_ activity for fans of a show to: Continue writing TriStar, Continue calling & writing local stations Continue bringing across new fans Continue to ask for tapes & merchandize Continue writing sponsors Continue making posters Continue agitating for media attention Continue to publicize the show and -- continue asking questions.... Aesop called this phenomenon being "a dog in the manger". Somebody please explain the logic to me on the part of Tristar's executives where they have a show they don't want to produce anymore because "it's not making enough money", and when someone offers to BUY IT from them for money, they turn them down and drive them off. I agree with another's suggestion, that TRISTAR was, perhaps, doing what many self-destuctive, money hungry corporations do nowadays--deliberately run a project into failure as a tax loss. Methinks it is now a matter of idiotic pride, folks. The only logic I can think of is that Tristar is actually afraid that whomever obtains FK will promote it properly, run it at a decent time and turn it into a success, EMBARASSING SOMEONE at Tristar for their decisions. This afternoon, at lunch, I was discussing endings of television shows with a friend. I was saying that I would like to see Forever Knight end with Nick gaining his mortality (faction alliances aside). She agreed, considering that it was the whole premise of the show, anyway. Now should the evil people at Tri-Star continue with their current path and Forever Knight remains canceled (knock on wood, rub the rabbits foot, whatever seem appropriate), I wanted to nkow what the general consensus is about Nicholas regaining his mortality as the show's ending. Here's what you do. Email me privately at ctucker@m........ Answer this question with a yes or a no: Do you think that Nicholas should regain his mortality as the ending of Forever Knight? Please put your answer IN THE SUBJECT LINE. This will make it much easier to sort through my mail and keep track of the poll. I'll post the results every week. If you have web access, set your pointer to the following URL: http://www.everywhere.com/Academy/ Enjoy!
