Got that? For every studio, production company, show distributor there is a company that owns them. We are bombarding Tri-Star with letters to the point that Jon Feltheimer is ignoring them. We have little or no information about what he really thinks of FK and what negotiations, if any, are happening with the sale of FK. We are working from the outside in. When you get bad service at a restuarant, you don't talk to the waiter, you talk to the manager, and if he isn't listening , you talk to the owner and so on. We need to be talking to Jon's boss (hehehehe) and telling him that Feltheimer isn't listening to a very large and vocal contingent of viewers who are interested in one of their products -Forever Knight. Anybody can complain about bad service but it doesn't always work. Today it's not "the customer is always right" it's "we only pay attention to people who have influence and the customer isn't it" which is preatty dam foolish when they see their stock go down. We need a contact , a mole, someone ON THE INSIDE, to provide us with effective information we can use . Out of some 900 odd people ( and some of you are odd) on this list someone must know somebody in the business, or we need to get someone with influence to notice us, or get to know somoeone with influence real dam quick. As Anne Pinzow pointed out the old methods of fighting a battle have to change. We need to show the big boys that we lowly consumers are not to be trifled with or ignored. Admittedly FK is not a major cash cow for T/S and is a drop in the ocean of commerance but the idea behind the campaign is the important matter. Due South was revived because fans made CBS listen( and they desperately needed to win back lost audience) The Commish , Cagney &Lacey , Alien Nation, are produced as 2 hour movies and do well in the ratings because they are still viable. You want to scare a TV executive, say this " I will never watch, buy or consume anything your company produces" Well enough rambling , I hope I made some sense. Well, cute me, I didn't tape the commercials (I was short on tape space) and my memory is a bit... woozy. However, I do remember that there were a LOT of commercials for dentists, a couple about "phone companionship", a soap that claimed it would make "your skin come alive again!" (which made me laugh because I imagined Nat running into Nick's loft with Brand X soap saying, 'I've found the cure, Nick, we've really done it now! This soap will make your skin come alive again!'), and some kitty litter commercials (like I said, vampires seem to like cats and have bad teeth.) My favorite was Visine's eyedrops commercial: "It gets the red out!" I laughed till I cried thinking of all our recent discussions on vampires' blood, sweat, and tears. They went to Kay K., Jon F., Rod P., Bonnie H. and John Klien at KYW in Philly. I'd like to send one to Fred Mollin and Mr. Parriott (sp?) but I'm not sure where to send them. If someone can help with that I'd most appreciate it. These t-shirts have on them what was on the NATPE bags. They are white t-shirts (Fruit of the Loom Best, 50% cotton, 50% polyester, and are all XL.) There are no graphics. In red letters they say: FOREVER KNIGHT Remarkable television brings remarkable results! I am offering these shirts to the list. I'm not doing this to make any profit, just cover some of my costs. What I am asking for 1 shirt will not cover the cost or postage for any that I have or will send. I'm asking $5.00 per shirt and $3.00 shipping. I will provide (or rather the post office will provide) the bags to mail them in. If I send them priority I can use the priority bags at no charge. The $3.00 shipping will cover up to three shirts, i.e. 1 shirt would be $8.00, 2 would be $13.00 and 3 wouldbe $18.00. If there is any profit made from these shirts I will turn that profit over to the NATPE/EM fund. (I really want you guys to know that I'm not doing this for the money.) This price is also good for shipping to Canada. The post office will guarantee priority delivery to Canada, but once it's there they can't guarantee how fast it will be delievered to you. If you are interested in a shirt please e-mail me privately and I will tell you where to send you check or money order. If you already e-mailed me when I posted that I was thinking about this you don't have to do it again. (Forgive me, please, but can a rich, handsome >man get away with murder in today's *civilized* society? ;-)) > Despite being a cop, Nick apparently isn't concerned whether or not the Law would regard his previous feeding on humans as technical "murder". Nick himself obviously regards it as murder of his fellow man/woman, and he has come to see these mortals as victims, not survival fare (as LaCroix would have it). They interact with him, and he cares for them, and the circumstances of their death causes him pain and guilt. LaCroix knew that the scope of that unrelenting guilt is not good for Nick's mental health (in CURIOUSER & CURIOUSER) and a kinder, gentler vampire is likely to become nuttier than a fruitcake. Nick is acting as his own judge and jury, and whether his near-death revelations are the product of his own conscience or based on theological reality, he is already guilty, condemned and sentenced to penance. Also, I must agree with Sandra Grey; if LaCroix regards humans 'exclusively' as food, why would he occasionallly bring anyone across? We don't fall for a particularly good-looking steak and make it our lifelong companion, after all... It seems there is barrier upon barrier (or litre upon litre of it) standing in our way. Yes we all have a right to be p***** off and angry, its good to feel injustice at what the powers that be will do with our show. How do we change things? We can still feel angry, but how about we all visualise the change we want to occur? Instead of focusing on the depressing news we have received, how about we think of the opposite, like seeing more of FK - four, five, six seasons with movies, videos and merchandise to follow. Yeah I know I'm sounding like a space cadet to some, but truly we need to turn our anger and rage at the injustice of what is happening to the show into positive power to see what the future will be for all of us. Just use those minds and hearts of all of you and I know there's a lot of you out there. Imagine the power we all could have by using our energy to visualise what we want. You can flame me if you like, but I know how I'll be working on things and no it doesn't mean halting the letters and phone calls and stuff, keep those coming, they are the backbone of the work we all have ahead of us. Used that one last year!" LaCroix- Is sulking at CERK HQ under a dim red light, after having just bit the heads off of a dozen white roses. Vachon-Is <blink> plucking a wistful melody <blink> on his guitar <blink> alone in the church. Urs- In her usual state of confusion..."What day is it?" and we can't forget the mortals....... Tracy-Is tying a pretty pink bow on that left over pint of blood from "Fever" and is headed out to the church. What a romantic, that Tracy.... Nat-She's had it!!! Its now or never. Cleverly disguised, she leaves the sex shop, with handcuffs and chocolate body paint clutched tightly under her arm. No silver pill box *this* year! Capt. I'm hoping that some of you out there might be residents of the Monterey Bay area, or you know FK fans who are. I'd like to get in contact and see about pooling/coordinating our efforts to save "Forever Knight", especially in regards to our local carrier KSBW/NBC.I would also like to know if any of you have received any sort of response from KSBW, I have not. It would sure be good for my morale to know there are others around here, especially after yesterdays very depressing news. E mail me privately at: ithildin@i....... if you are interested, I am hoping some fresh perspective on all this will help our efforts. Thanks, Denise. NATPE Strikeforce Survivor http://members.aol.com/CuznJamiMR/SaveForeverKnight.html ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 13 Feb 1996 21:16:57 -0500 From: Loose Cannon <LoosCanN@a.......> Subject: Re: Murder Leah Rosenthal writes: >Also, I must agree with Sandra Grey; if LaCroix regards humans 'exclusively' >as food, why would he occasionallly bring anyone across? We don't fall for a >particularly good-looking steak and make it our lifelong companion, after >all... This is a pretty convoluted subject, ie, when a vampire kills a human, is it murder. I can't believe Nick is the only vampire that has questions and doubts on the subject. After all, most, if not all vampires had people that they loved before they were brought over. However, in order to survive (at least before the advent of blood sources like the Raven), it was necessary to for them to, in effect, "dehumanize" humans, in the same way that humans do when they feel the need to kill someone. We make them non-human in our minds, calling them "gooks", "huns", "pinkos", etc. They cease to be truly human in our minds. In order to protect themselves from guilt and remorse, a vampire must think of humans as "cattle". LaCroix, given his background and basic personallity, probably even before he was a vampire, already had a mental seperation with the rest of humanity. They were slaves, to be used as he pleased, they were soldiers, to send to whatever death his plans required. The plebes were a scorned, bloodthirsty mob, to be appeased with "bread and circuses". Women were a lesser form of human anyway. Fellow patricians were pieces to be moved about on the chess board of his ambition. Even his family, legally, were basically his property. People, as far as LaCroix was concerned, were to be used, killed and discarded even before he became a vampire. Humans had always been "cattle" to him. Having to kill them to eat, to survive, probably wasn't that great a wrench for him. A human must be exceptional in some way, stand out from the herd, as it were, in order to break through this defensive mechanism a vampire creates in order to survive. How they look, what they do, something, must intrigue a vampire long enough for them to decide that this human is special somehow, and deserves to become a real person, a vampire. As a human, LaCroix found some people interesting enough to get close to. I doubt he considered them his equals, but they were entertaining. He may even have loved them in his own possessive, controlling way. As his attitude toward humans hasn't changed all that much since he was brought over, even LaCroix is going to find an occasional human interesting enough to bring over, to become his family, his property. Humans have an advantage over cows. They look like their predators. Humans sing, dance, speak, can inspire lust and love. There *is* a strong, albeit sub-conscious connection. Vampires *know* humans are "human". They were one once. It depends on the individual vampire how much this means to him or her. To LaCroix, it's practically meaningless. To Nick, it means a great deal. And while humans may be cattle to LaCroix, occasionally one rears up on its hind legs and makes itself noticed. Ok, my sister, Kira, is going to see one of the managers of the local station that runs FK in the SF North Bay (KFTY-TV50 in Santa Rosa). He used to be her boss when she worked the cameras for the news casts so she has a pretty go "in" with him, in terms of insurring that he will listen and be honest about what he will or won't do about it. Now, even though the station doesn't have the best relationship with TriStar either (are we sensing a pattern here?) he might be able to do *something.* What Kira needs though is info. Specific, concrete info. More than just the standard "1.7" that TriStar and USA used as their cop out. Does anyone have a break down of the viewer demographics or anything else that sounds nice and professional. Not only that, what, specifically should be her goal here? I mean she will obviously be trying to get the station to go to TriStar and impress upon them how much they want a fourth season, but what about over and above that? I'm not sure this would necessarily count as a press contact, but it's worth a shot. And yes, I will make sure she gives him the address for jamie's web page. Any suggestions e-mail me ASAP! She will be heading over to see him (I can't remember his name) tomorrow evening...Thanks Alora...who's reconsidered, Screed's got better taste than to go even consider Feltheimer. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 13 Feb 1996 21:22:58 -0600 From: Brian Waichunas <lomaz@r.......> Subject: VISIONS I am trying to contact those people I met at the last Visions convention in Chicago. At one time, I believe I maintained a partial correspondence with the one young lady who had, I believe procured the room so that us fans can meet and enjoy LaCroix pestering Nick in the episode the Son of Belia. But due to stress and school, I have been unable to find any trace of the e-mail address of that person or any other person or persons I spoke to. Now that Forever Knight is in the early stages of being cancelled, I wish ever more to discuss my ideas concerning the continuance of this show with them. I thank you for giving me that portion of your life to read these lines. But I am afraid that I must leave you with only a valentine kiss if your a young lady, and nothing if your a guy! lomaz@r....... ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 13 Feb 1996 22:36:00 EST From: Maryann Jorgensen <majorge@i.......> Subject: Why not sell? Your creative writing instructor assigns two short stories: Heart of Darkness and The Strings, and you start laughing out loud in class while everyone looks at you like you are nuts...and then you go home and see posters up everywhere for the Anti-Valentine's Day Party in the dorms and you chuckle at the first poster which reads: "Be My Valentine" (after all, hardly original, but amusing after class) and then stop & do a double take at the next one, which says: "Only the Lonely"...and all you can think is that you are either on Candid Camera, or you *really have* slipped into the "FK universe"!
