Well I honestly don't think it would be a *leather* thong. Too common. I'm
thinking more along the lines of a summer weight black wool with silk satin
lining to keep from itching. (Vampires probably have very senstive, er,

I keep thinking of the "Days of Our Lives" fans in the early eighties who
picketed the NBC studio because they killed Marlena. They aired the ep
when she died on Fri, and by Mon, the studio parking lot was overrun by
irrate fans...
ObFK: I know HF will provide endless hours of dialogue, but I think it's
time to divert our collective attention from the spoiler list and get
back into SOS-FK...JF and TriStar think they've won, and if we don't act
NOW they will be right.

What is Tristar's problem. A third party offers to buy the program and
they go out of their way to screw up the situation. I hope someone from
Tristar is reading--they will when they get the letter--I am very picky
about my TV viewing. If Tristar wants to treat a customer, yes a
customer, without regard fine--I do not have to view anything produced by
Tristar.

Well, I've been sending updates to the entertainment news show Extra via AOL.
I just sent a note about Tri-Star not wanting to sell to an eager buyer.
ARGH! DOUBLE ARGH! Thank goodness I took three years of drama; at least I
can *act* civil when I start my new batch of letters tomorrow.
I'll be posting something for comic relief soon: Commercials my syndie showed
during FK last saturday. Most of them were strangely appropriate. Lots of
dentists. :) This borders on a YKYB... You know you've been watching too
much FK when you find yourself relating every commercial to some aspect of
FK.
BTW: how do you find out the addresses of the sponsors? I'd like to write
them letters too. (Thank you, Dr. So and So, for having a wonderful sense of
humor about dentistry...) I guess I could go get a bag of kitty litter and
see if there's an address on it somewhere... (Apparently people who like
vampires tend to have cats and bad teeth.) I really have *no* business
sense.

I have been keeping completely out of this entire SOS-thing for my
own personal and probably irrationally bitter reasons, but I have not
been unaware of the heroic actions everyone has been taking, or of
the intention behind the struggle to save this show.
And the fact that you are acting to save something that you
love, (despite every societal pressure to be merely 'good quiet
consumers') and have been doing so in the most professional and most
altruistic manner possible (tell me the Pediatric Aids Foundation
isn't grateful for any help they can get!) is absolutely not
something that should be stopped for any reason other than your own
personal decision.

I would like to indicate that Mr. Parriott's communication is
incomplete. (<I> was upset by it, and I haven't even been doing
anything!)
Please note that he does not say: what actions <specifically> are
"destructive"-- or what <specific> destruction is being caused.
Because his communication is a generality-- because it does not
contain the whole truth (time, place, form, and event) -- he has in
fact NOT communicated at all.
He has merely forwarded an upset (and we all know s*** rolls
downhill).
I can't blame him for being upset about events-- but I do STRONGLY
object to being told to "Stop doing something" when he did not
identify any SPECIFIC action.
Generalized efforts to stop others from acting, from doing, from
creating are SUPPRESSIVE and should not be obeyed or agreed with.
DO NOT LET A GENERALIZED ORDER TO "STOP" SHUT YOU DOWN!!!!!
Annmarie stated that "phone calls to TPTB" should not be made; I
would like to point out that cutting off the power of communication of
others is also suppressive and should not be obeyed or agreed to.
(However 'nicely' it is asked for.) Our strength comes from our ability
to communicate, and our love for what is real to us.
Besides, who's so puny at the other end of the phone that they can't
take calls in support of a tv show?
Note, I do not condone harrassment-- that's suppression from the
other end of the spectrum: overwhelm by excessive action.
But I urge you to remember that you have the power of choice-- to
communicate or not to communicate, to love or not to love, to find
something real or unreal-- and you do not have to obey <anybody>
else's orders about how to use your power.
No matter WHO they think they are.
We joke about TPTB, "The Powers That Be" because they seem to have
control over the show. But you are your own Power, and you have sole
control over it.
I trust you with it. You guys have been doing <good.>
Well, I don't know about you, but I feel better.
Please write me if you have any question or confusion about what I
just said.

I didn't feel like cutting and snipping his forwarded message but can
someone tell me what the heck we're all supposed to stop doing? What is self
destructive? Did I just miss some major thing that went on concerning the SOS
movement and someone else?
I do however have something to say.
I want TPTB or whomever knows something to post concerning the shows status.
I want to know did they stop filming already?
Do they know something we don't? All I want is the truth concerning this
whole big issue. If FK is dead fine tell us, because otherwise we all are
spending time, money, and effort on something that if we all knew was futile
we could be putting into something else.
I have worked in the so called "Entertainment Industry" I lived in L.A. for 4
years, unfortunately I know the truth is hard to come by concerning anything
associated with the entertainment business. The nicest thing I can say about
people in the business is they smile in your face while they stab you in the
back. (Hope I didn't insult anyone I'm just trying to prove a point)
Anyway someone call my bluff. Anyone associated with the show in anyway that
knows something Tell US ALL THE TRUTH! DON'T BS US. All I want to know is if
FK is indeed dead (No pun intended). I'm sure most of the people on this list
feel the same. All we want to know is the truth behind all the crap that
seems to be getting tossed at us lately.

I'm relieved to see some response on list to TriStar's activities and our
dwindling time scale -- its nice to know an episode means so much to everyone
that it can cause the kind of fervor HF did, but that *does* distract from
the crisis. And considering how little time is left, it *is* a crisis in
every sense of the word!
Regarding HorrorFest for those in the Dallas/Ft. Worth (or Texas in general)
area: I talked to Carol Thompson yesterday and she thought our idea of
setting up a TV/VCR was good. She even said *she* would bring a *second* VCR
and it could be set up in a room so we could have two going all day!!! Cool.
Of course, this means people must be willing to man these VCR's so no one
walks off with either a video or a VCR! If there are enough of us, we can
take turns so everyone gets a chance to see some of the Fest as well, should
they want to. The dealer table will cost us $35, but if I understood her
correctly, one table will get us *all* in as dealers, so that takes care of
the regular $15 fee at the door if one was just going in as a visitor. In
case I didn't get the time passed on to everyone, it will be held April 6th.
Yes, that is a bit *after* the fact -- however, as Jennifer Mingee pointed
out, we can still be casting for new fans and letter writers to push for a
*return* (if it comes to that) and/or *movies*, so it will be worth it in
what has to be a continuing, long term fight!
Carol also mentioned that there is a reporter(?) on staff at the Ft. Worth
Star Telegram who writes horror, and I will try and contact him to see if he
has any *suggestions* -- perhaps we can get some publicity out of it. I also
have the phone number of Pat Elrod, who has written a number of vampire books
and who will be at HorrorFest. I have no idea if she watches FK or is
already involved in the effort, but I *will* call her and see if she is.
TriStar.... this is sickening! I'll definitely be sending more cards their
direction. I don't think the telephone route is doing squat because they are
making a point of diverting messages so they don't have to hear from us. But
another innudation of letters won't hurt; and faxes. I think the news
about USA is encouraging. It sounds as if another good strong push at USA is
in order *NOW*!
Knock my wooden head against a brickwall -- I like the idea of loaning tapes
of good FK eps to people as a means of "bringing them across"; never occurred
to me! Here I kept thinking one had to gather a group in a room all at once
and sit them down in front of the screen -- difficult logistics! Loaning is
a *wonderful* idea! Of course -- only to people you know, so the tapes don't
disappear!
I also like Felicia Bollin's idea of a form letter to all those *reluctant*
syndicators -- has anyone maintained an address list of those who need
persuading? I'd like to have one.
Rae Montor has an excellent idea regarding contacting Daniel Howard Cerone,
the TV Guide writer of "Special Report". While nothing is happening with old
Jeff Jarvis, Cerone may have more interest in this as a "news" item. Uh,
Rae, do you have any idea what the phone number is for Cerone?
It is heartening to see the continued efforts: accolades to Marina Bailey
for bringing someone across in South Africa. Keep up the good work Marina!
Also, its great to hear that Cyndi Knecht has so many people continuing to
write! Wonderful! Each note of continued effort regarding calls, letters,
responses, etc., makes my day!

okay... is there any information if there are going to be any shows after the
Avenging Angel one? I know that AA is supposed to be at the end of the list
of episodes that were 'canned' by the time the supposed cancellation (go team!
go!) was announced.

Well, now we know that TriStar has been LYING to us the whole time. "Wait
for the February sweeps"... it's obvious they didn't. All they want is for
us to shut up and go away. They've been saying everything and anything
that might make us be quiet and stop our efforts.
We also know, now, that the "oh, we'd LIKE to save FK, but..." attitude is
a load of... ahem, garbage. TriStar IS NOT and probably NEVER HAS BEEN our
"friend". They've proved that adequately, now.
It is no longer a matter of trying to save FK. It is now a matter of
trying to KEEP TRISTAR FROM KILLING FK.
It is a matter of showing them that we will NOT give up and go away.
We must demonstrate that such tactics will not discourage us -- that their

selling it to someone who will.
Note that Sony, TriStar's parent company, is apparently in some financial
distress. Is it really a WISE BUSINESS MOVE for its subsidiary to be
turning down money for a product which they say makes no money for them as
it stands? No, I don't think so either.
And yeah, you had better BELIEVE this is going up on the web page.

A third party (we don't know who) wanted to buy Forever Knight from TriStar
and apparently came back several times and met TriStar's new offer until
TriStar upped the price so high they pulled out. In other words, TriStar
deliberately killed an opportunity for someone to buy the show and for it
to continue.
As for the note from JP, I couldn't agree more with Marian. At this point
in time Jim has absolutely no business having a second party post a vague,
obviously manipulative and terse note asking us to stop. I'm not about to
just ask him "How high?" when he says "Jump" and that's all there is in the
matter. If this is in response to calls to his office that have been
rerouted by TriStar, then he's got to say so. If this is *really*
destructive, then tell us *why*? What about the *charity* (which I think
we should push again)?
Mysterious messages cutting off communication and ordering me around aren't
going to work.
For me, this has always been about a lot more than just saving a TV show.
I'm sick and tired of being told I don't count as a viewer and as a
consumer. I'm sick and tired of finding a show that appeals to me only to
have it retooled for another demographic that is deemed more important.
I'm sick and tired of being just a number or just a dollar sign to TPTB.
I'm sick and tired of being told that my voice and my opinion doesn't
count.
I've had enough. Don't ever let *anybody* tell you not to speak your mind
about something.

Just before NAPTE I sent a letter to my local station
which airs FK (KOFY-TV20 in the San Francisco bay area).
I got back a reply yesterday and I thought I'd shared it
with the list. It's not very encouraging (all right, it's
downright depressing) but I feel it's important for us to
get an accurate picture of where the local stations are
coming from....
The letter is dated January 29, 1996. Is says...
"We appreciate your comments regarding Forever Knight.
Unfortunately, the syndicators have decided to stop production after this
season."
The letter's signed by James Gabbert, the president of
KOFY. Sounds like they've given up on Forever Knight.
I guess the only glimmer of hope is that the letter
is dated prior to the NAPTE conference. Maybe they've
changed their mind (or gotten additional info) since
then.

I know a Neilson family - my parents!!!!! They're going to be one for a week. I
found out because I had to petsit this past weekend while they went out of town
and when I checked the mail, there was the diary from Neilson ratings. My mom,
who was a huge FK fan when it was on Crimetime after Primetime and still
watches when she can, is under strict orders to put FK and HL in that little
diary whether she watches them or not (and she doesnt' watch HL)(but my mommy
loves me)(and I took care of her obnoxious pets)(just kidding, love the little
critters - one dog, one cat(evil LaCroixian cat)).
And to whoever suggested using the magazine subscription cards to plug FK, I
just received 3 "trash" mags and am gleefully preparing to send them back
off.<insert evil laughter here>
