It did map out the irony of the whole thing. Nick loses because he doesn't read information about museum exhibit's. Jeannie In a message dated 6/17/2013 1:58:33 P.M. In that time, he clearly knew Janette was at the Raven (for how else would he have known to look for her there). Yet it took Lacroix's arrival in Toronto to get him to go and see her. Of course, it was also the murder of the guard--the only one committed by Lacroix, when he decided to get the jade cup--that persuaded Stonetree to set Nick up with Schanke as his partner. Lacroix, of course, only came to Toronto because he thought Nick was after the jade cup, which had been featured in the newspaper. And (this is the joke), Nick hadn't even noticed the exhibit was on! Originally the rule was put in place because we were a very high traffic list for a show which was currently airing. Our storage disk for the digest kept jamming and having to be freed up by hand. The digest readers didn't like having to page past a lot of repeated material. To avoid this we put in this rule. Now that we don't have either situation, I would like to know if you feel that the rule is still needed. You can either reply to me personally, mclisa1014@g......., or onlist. Thanks! The ROM. One segment involved a curator's attempt to prove the usage of a grenade-shaped object from the Middle East ca. 1200. The first theory was that it was a bowl for a water-pipe. He took a replica to a local shop specializing in such pipes. Conclusion: possible, but uncomfortably heavy to hold in the hand, the way water-pipe smokers are shown doing in period illustrations. The second theory was that it was a bomb, or early hand grenade. This proved, by tests involving replicas, period explosives and watermelons ( stand-ins for humans), to be correct. I had a vision of Nick and LaCroix ROTFL at the sight of anyone trying to use the thing for a bong. Ty Oh, yours was one of the first to go in the archive! When Yahoo announced that GeoCities was going to disappear, Nancy Taylor raised the question of possibly saving at least the war and faction sites. When I said I'd do it, you were one of the people on list--I think there were three of you altogether--who asked me to try to save your site, too. (Yahoo had given people utterly useless advice. It simply didn't work! I had to figure out a different way to save the pages, since my browser flatly refused to do it the way that they suggested.) That was actually *before* Steph got involved. I remember editing all three sites and sending them off to their owners, hoping you'd all find new homes for them. I was hunting for free webspace for my own site, too. Then Steph offered to host an archive; and one of you sent your site to her even before I took her up on the offer. In the end, of course, I tried to save all the sites I could find. I started with the war and faction sites, and then saved just another...and another...and finally decided to try to save as many as possible. But that's how it started. I recently discovered a copy of Bonnie Neely's site on the Wayback Machine. Her site, "Bonnie's Bedtime Stories", has four FK stories on it. They feature her own character, a young woman named Jezebel, who becomes involved with Lacroix. Two of these stories, "Love Bites" and "Love Bleeds", are in JADFE. The fourth, "The Gift", is on her website complete with all its parts. However, the third story, "An Eye for an Eye", was posted in multiple parts; and only the first three were saved. Does anyone have a copy of Bonnie Neely's "An Eye for an Eye" that they could send me? If so, then I can restore her website, for it's otherwise in excellent condition. Also, of course, I can finish reading the story!
