Unless someone had tried to sell their blood and failed, they might not know that it's not possible in Canada, even if they lived there. ---- Nick ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 11 Jun 2013 03:46:54 +0000 From: nancykam@c....... More realistically, they had a script that was heavily based on the US version and they weren't going to rewrite an important plot point. Plus, the show was being marketed to the US market, and it was pretty certain that the finer points of Canadian blood bank policy weren't going to be important to them. I had a chance to ask John Kapelos at a con and yes, he did remember that he'sdhad that long speech in one episode about the death of Myra's mother. Then when he had a line next season about Myra's being in Florida with her mother, the producer on-set insisted he say it. They'd have had to wake someone up to change it and they wouldn't. The guy told JK that the viewers wouldn't remember that Myra's mother was supposed to be dead. <snort> So the fact that you couldn't sell a blood donation in Canada was ignored. So was the fact that the Toronto police are organized differently as to structure and rank. Ger and Nigel said at their first con appearance, Toronto Trek, that they were proud to be part of the first show filmed in Canada for the US market which admitted it was in Canada. The network had agreed because it was cheaper not to have to worry things like changing signs, etc. to look like the U.S. McLisa (Lisa McDavid) "That will be trouble." listowner, Forkni-l & Fkfic-l mclisa1014@g....... ------------------------------ End of FORKNI-L Digest - 10 Jun 2013 to 11 Jun 2013 (#2013-82) **************************************************************
