Okay, I've got it figured out, I CAN use my meter to prepay my postage.
But I need to make sure I send enough. The envelope I'm sending weighs .7
ounce by itself. But it is larger than 8x11. Should I send postage for 2
ounces or 3?
If I don't hear back by midnight tonight (the last I'll be downloading mail
before I do the postage in the morning), I'll include postage for 3
ouncees, to be on the save side.

Subject: SOS announcement in VQT newsletter
I had emailed the SOS press releases to Dorothy Swanson of Viewers For Quality
Television. She offered to include the information on where to write in the
next newsletter (Feb.) like she had put in for MST3K in January. I told her
to emphasize writing to local stations and Tristar, and included the URL of
the SaveFK page. A lot of newpaper TV critics read this newsletter too.
You can join VQT for as little as $10, though to get your monthly newsletters
by first class mail instead of bulk, the dues are $30. The organization is in
it's 11th year of advocating greater quality in TV programming by endorsing
quality shows and encouraging grassroots efforts like ours to keep low-rated
high quality shows on the air. Past supported shows include Alien Nation and
Quantum Leap. Currently the only fully endorsed SF show is The X-Files, though
the latest member survey results had Babylon 5, Lois & Clark and Highlander in
the top 25. The surveys are in each newsletter during the main tv season and
members vote a quality rating for each show they watch over a one or two week
period. Twice a year, endorsements are voted on, there are currently 15
endorsed and 13 "qualified support" shows. I always rate FK (and the survey
I just sent in was for the weeks that Strings and Fever were on) but it hasn't
gotten enough votes to show up in the ratings yet.

we get as much snow tonight as they are calling for (the bizarre
predictions vary from 6 inches to 3 feet!) I won't be back in the
office to answer them until next week.

I have an opportunity to try and bring across some of my buds SCA friends, but
I need *help*!
My fk tape collection is spotty and scattered across the country, and I want to
give them a set of 'FK 101' episodes soooo, would anyone with all three seasons
(but especially Close Call) and an urge to help spread the FK gospel please
e-mail me ASAP?
Also, the other thing (you know that thing that maybe we're not s'posed to have,
but just happens to be floating around out there and I forget who's got it)
would be a real bonus.
And would the Keeper of the Blood (yes, i forget who you are too :) e-mail me
as well?
And does anyone know what 1st season eps were nominated for Geminis? (i know
something was, because that's how I found out about FK. I do believe that at
the exact moment I was saying: 'a canadian vampire cop show?!? i'd love
something like that!' CBS decided to cancel it. i'm more of a walking curse
than nick is :)

I understand Ger will be playing Petruchio in Taming of the Shrew at the
end of April in Toronto. However, I have never heard of the World
Festival Theatre.
Last year, he and Catherine Disher did a two person play at a small
theatre in the Toronto area. Is this the same theatre? How long a run
will there be of the play?
If anyone knows, please post to the list otherwise I have to start making
long distance phone calls to my Toronto pals.

Although I consider myself feminist in many regards, I am also not above a

Subject: BAY AREA PARTY FOR "HUMAN FACTOR"
The Good News:
Just what the subject says! Anybody who will be in the San Francisco area
for the airing of "Human Factor" (or who just really likes travelling) is
welcome to attend, bring friends, etc. to my apt. (in Berkeley) for the
event. (This is KOFY's first airing we're talking).
I plan on starting quite a bit earlier than the episode's airing, naturally,
and continuing as late as folks are willing. I'll have food and such, but
anyone is welcome to bring more (especially Priscilla [; ). Maybe we can
get some letter-writing done, too? (As well as the requisite ep. watching.)
PLEASE get in contact with me *offlist* to let me know if you would like to
come. My apartment is easily accessible by either car or BART. Also, for
those of you who came for the 4th of July party, I've got a new TV! Much
bigger, and no more shadowy pictures!
Also, if you know any folks who might be off-list that I missed Ccing,
please let them know as well!
The Bad News:
Has anybody figured out yet just *which* week this will be?!? I'd really
like to know... I'm assuming a week from Saturday. Is this correct?

I know its far from being a literal translation, but I didn't

That is interesting, but I think all crosses or religious icons affect
vampires regardless of whether consecrated or not. When Nat's brother
became a vampire, he said that his wife wore a cross. And I think
Nick specifically said that crosses would affect you, and not some crosses.
But here is something off the wall to consider. Perhaps the knife in
BlackWing resembled a cross in the respect that it was two items perpendicularly
bound together... But of course that could also mean cracks in the side walk
could repeal a vampire! :)

Dear FK fans,
CTV viewers:
Please note that Forever Knight is definitely moved to the wednesday time
slot. I've looked in next week's TV Hebdo, and FK is still listed on Wed. at
10pm on CTV.
Question:
The episode we had this week was Night in Question. It made me think of a scene
I saw in an older episode. Does anyone remember Schanke and Nick going after a
bad guy, and Nick being shot? I remember he told Schank to continue to chase
the bad guy, and that he would call an ambulance for himself. I think Nick was
wearing a black leather jacket. Maybe an ep. from the 1st season?
I'd appreciate any help you can give me on this!
Other things:
During NiQ, we actually saw Nigel's Oatmeal commercial!!! And someone was
wondering if they still show the USA logo at the end. Well, they do!

:) Well, the Washington, D.C. area TV Guide may have it listed for Monday,
Feb. 5th, at 10:00 p.m. but the Wheeling, WV-Steubenville, OH, edition
doesn't. The only listing for USA is for the Thursday/Friday 1:00 a.m. time
slot. (Boy do I wish my Mom would find the large print edition. It's kind
of rough reading through that small print they use now so as to keep it the
same size. :) ) But those of us who receive both WPGH Fox 53 (Pittsburgh,
PA) and WBOY-TV Channel 12 (Clarksburg, WV) can expect the next new episode.
Which reminds me, I got the address for WPGH and sent it to both Cynthia and
Karen. I haven't been to the SFK home page yet today (I'm going there next
and to Jaime's other page. I want to see the new babies.) to see if it has

I'm really sorry, I did read the FAQ, but I guess I skipped

I spoke with Terry Johnson (in charge of Publicity for FK) today. I left a
message about wanting merchandise, she called back and told me that there is
none currently available for retail sale that she knows of. BUT she is
having her staff check into it and will get back to me. She said most of
the stuff was made up for the first and second seasons (or for special
promotions like NATPE) and is now long gone. She also told me that she does
not think that the tapes of the show will ever be available.
If you want to make an impression about how many people want this stuff,
call her - Terry Johnson - at (000)000-0000. She was VERY nice, so be kind
to her.

Subject: USA 1am Thurs - repeats
Tried to speak to Bonnie Hammer about the rescheduling of FK at USA, but she
disavowed any knowledge and I was transfered to the Media Relations
department. The man I spoke to said that FK would be airing at 1 am late
night on Thurdsay (which is 1am in the morning on Friday for all you people
in the military) and they will only be showing repeats from now on!
The guy at the Media Relations department was **EXTREMELY** rude!!! He made
it very clear that he didn't want to talk to me. I began by saying I was
calling about Forever Knight. The first thing out of his mouth was

there was no announce ment, but all he gave me were curt, pat replies. My
only hope is that he acted this way be cause I was the millionth person to
call today and ask those same questions.
So, CALL if you haven't and call AGAIN if you have already. Media Relations
(000)000-0000 or Bonnie Hammer at (000)000-0000 or Rod Perth at (000)
000-0000. My call lasted 5 minutes tops which is not that much even if
you're paying long distance.

*Now* I can be specific, because I've done it. It's easy--it takes a very
little DOS and you need to play in your C:\windows and \windows\system
directories. Also, this applies to Windows 3.1 and 3.11. Don't know if it
works for Win95!

Some people should not even be *told* of the \windows\system directory, let
alone be encouraged to *play* in there. So be careful.
This procedure has you look at, copy and make a new file--nothing should be
changed or overwritten!
First--make your picture. A 16 color .rle format less than 55k. PaintShop
Pro works.
For VGA or higher-than-VGA resolution, size to fill screen is 640 x 480.
For EGA, 640 x 350
For CGA, 640 x 200 monochrome
Put your graphic in C:\windows.
(I stole the Warm Fuzzies graphic for my logo--if you want to use it, e-mail
me and I'll send it as an attachment or whatever. It's 40k)
The win.com file (in C:\windows) starts Windows. Windows Setup forms win.com
(during installation) by adding 3 files:
(These are all in C:\windows\setup. Look, don't touch)
1st file is win.cnf--an executable that detects the config of your PC
2nd file is *one* of these--another executable determined by your
video board
vgalogo.lgo (for VGA, SVGA or 8514/A displays)
egalogo.lgo (for EGA color)
egamono.lgo (for EGA mono)
cgalogo.lgo (CGA,EGA B&W (64k) and Plasma displays)
herclogo.lgo (for Hercules Monochrome Graphics displays)
3rd file is the Windows graphic--*one* of these
vgalogo.rle
egalogo.rle
egamono.rle
cgalogo.rle
herclogo.rle
To make your own personal win.com, you will be adding the 1st file + the
appropriate 2nd file + your own .rle file. My example is for SVGA and VGA,
using the warm fuzzies graphic (wf1.rle) located in C:\windows.
Exit Windows and go to DOS. Change to the C:\windows\system directory, where
the win.cnf and the vgalogo.lgo should be located. The following DOS copy
command will combine together (concatenate) the three files into a single
(new) file in the C:\windows directory. Call the new file wf.com (please
don't call it win.com and overwrite your original win.com!) At the prompt type:
copy /b win.cnf+vgalogo.lgo+c:\windows\wf1.rle c:\windows\wf.com
Yes, that's a *space* between copy and /b. Also between /b and win.cnf. and
another between .rle and c:
You should now have a new file called wf.com in C:\windows. Assuming Windows
is on your DOS path, type wf at the prompt and Windows will start with your
logo.
(You can still type win at the prompt, and Windows will start the old way.
If you *rename* win.com to something else--oldwin.com,for example--and
rename the new wf.com file to win.com, typing win at the prompt will bring
up the new logo.) Imagine the possibilities--a nat.com, nigel.com, ger.com!

I, a newbie, have a very common problem. I have seen this problem occur
already on this list in the form of requests for missed episodes, missed
seasons, etc. I have seen no more than five episodes from this season, plus
a few endings from season two, and would love to see all the eps *some* day.

O.K. that's it. It's short, it's simple, it's alphabetized. It's my plea,

copying time, shipping, bribery, etc...
Now when and if I do receive these eps., from the kind dual vcr owners out
there, I will of course be able to copy them for the next batch of newbies
who appear, just like me, with this now familiar post of appeal. One good
