Among them was: > 4. Potential for hurt feelings, resentment, list splintering is > enormous. This to me is the biggest problem. If virtual episodes are discussed the same way as televised episodes, it will be impossible to avoid hurt feelings and for people (most especially the writers) to feel as if they've been flamed and/or personally insulted. Personally, I have absolutely no interest in getting involved in a virtual season. I don't see any difference between posting fanfic to fkfic-l and writing a virtual season except that with a virtual season episode someone else decides the parameters of your story and what "canon" you are to follow. If y'all decide to proceed with a virtual season, please consider those of us who have no desire to participate and who pay by the line or by the minute to download e-mail. If the virtual season is to be posted to fkfic-l and discussed on forkni-l, perhaps the listowners might consider setting up topics so that we can elect not to receive the posts. Jane janes@i....... Actually I thought that was the intention of that little ... scene where Tracy "felt something coming on." They wanted us to feel she possessed *some sort of ... potential*. <wcg> Maybe we were supposed to bite at that stuff where psychics and the lot say that certain reincarnated individuals end up involved with the same people around them. Tracy allegedly knew Francesca, Nickie, and LC. She was partnered with Nickie, who told her(him) in her past life that she had a great future. (Heh Heh) Little did he know, of course, it was as *dinner*. So, that's, like, twice Nick has been near her in violent death. If these trails are to be believed, Tracy and Nick could have a long history. She could have been the Nun that Nickie "trusted" and LC killed. ("Plays havic with my digestion." [~LC on religious food.] Heh, heh.) Nick kept the burnt music box, and Tracy's soul thang is connected to it.... Or she could have been the bounty hunting cowboy in "The Code", who Nick also trusted, and LC also killed. Not to mention one of the French Resistance Fighters Nick killed in his rather hysterical state. They could be going round n' round about trust. We may not have seen what Nick experienced in the few seconds it took him to drain Nat, but for about three seconds afterwards he looked pretty darn satisfied. It was pretty much the same reaction as with Amalia in "Crazy Love". He lost himself in the pleasure zone. I don't know if Nat's desire to be brought across, if sensed (Or flash felt) by Nick would have influenced him to the extent that he would have given in to that particular desire. Even LaCroix wouldn't buy it that Nick loved her *and* brought her across, he knows him too well.... This is just a quick note to remind everyone (hopefully in a manner that they'll heed) that in about two weeks or so, I will be contacting Bill Verity (our way-cool postmaster and way-too-nice guy) to remove FKSPOILR from PSUVM. Let me be clear on this. FKSPOILR is being shut down. Why? There are no new episodes to hash out that will require spoiler protection. What about this virtual season? Let me point you to FKFIC-L. That is what it is for. I honestly don't see the need for a whole separate list for stuff we already have a list for. Let me stress to everyone that our lists are a *MAJOR* drain on PSU's listserver. We have well over 1000 ppl on FORKNI-L now. It generates two or three or four digests a day. People at PSU are getting really cranky about how much space on their allegedly academic listserver is being taken up by non-academic lists. By no means are we the only non-ac lists on here, but we are prolly their biggest non-ac drain. That makes us a target. So, giving up FKSPOILR could possibly give us a slightly longer lease on the FORKNI-L/FKFIC-L lease on life. Most of the clues are in AtA, but Black Buddha supports the idea. In AtA: 1) LaCroix finds Urs and Vachon together on the couch. Vachon says, "It's not how it looks". And Urs explains why Vachon is there. This is the sort of thing one says to someone who might have reason to feel jealous. 2) Divia was killing people in reverse order of how close they were to LaCroix. Why was Urs second only to Nick? 3) The manner in which Urs was killed. Not even Nick was treated as brutally by Divia. Divia wanted LaCroix as a lover. How would she be toward his actual lover? In Black Buddha: 1) LaCroix describes Urs to Nick as "an innocent goddess". His face doesn't really look like he's being sarcastic. (And we know his weakness for "innocence".) 2) When Vachon tells Urs that he's leaving town, she gets pretty upset. Why? Urs appears to have been with him since she was brought across. She's just a dancer at the Raven. What motivation does she have for wanting to stay? (BTW, Vachon tells her that he's not asking her to go. So he seems to think she has a good reason for staying.) Just to mention, Vachon might be the third in line killed because LaCroix would likely become at least a close acquaintance of his lover's "master". This isn't a supporting point, but does explain his death if one accepts the above arguments. What do you think? Bands playing tonight? "In Vein" and "Darkened Soul" I'm not making this up - it was in the Providence Phoenix newspaper... but I seriously wonder whether LaCroix has moved the entourage to Providence?? Which brings me to an idea: come up with names for bands headed up by our favorite vampires and their friends (or, additionally, which instruments would they play??).... For example, guess who the following bands would be headed up by: ** The Walking Dead ** Bad Blood ** Formaldehyde Don't they sound like good names for groups?? Does she even work there anymore? Sometime in the first few episodes she stopped dressing in her "dancer's outfit" and started wearing everday clothes. By AtA, she was in a better class of clothes. An effect of LaCroix's influence and money? > Because, with only ten actors in Toronto, there aren't enough of them for > more than two vampires. And if Divia were after the closest > (relationship-wise) vamps in LC's life, she would have gone after > Janette, as well. Instead, Divia attacked whoever *seemed* closest A reality argument! Bite your typing fingers! :-) Anyway, Janette isn't in Toronto as far as we know, so Divia probably wouldn't have known of her. > But, again, Divia could have been suspecting a closer connection between > LC and (apparently :) one of the few female vampires around him - as in a > "Just in case there is anything going on..." kind of way. A After Urs and Vachon are attacked, Nick goes to the Raven. He tries to get LaCroix to talk about the caller on his radio show. LaCroix tries to evade by saying "You still listen to the show. I'm flattered." Nick counters with "Urs is dead". LaCroix turns his face sharply as if to hide emotion. He then says, "The word is out. Being seen in my company can be fatal." I think Nick said what he did because he knew it would cut through LaCroix's sarcastic facade. Which would mean that Urs was someone special. Furthermore, I think the conversation between them means that other vampires *have* been dying. At this point, Urs has died at Nick's place and Vachon is holed up at the church. How have the other vampires heard of this in order to start avoiding LaCroix? I think the implication is that Divia has been killing vampires right along, and with Vachon and Urs has attacked the two who are most important to him besides Nick. > ... But other than apparent innocence, > what else could Urs and Fleur have had in common, do you think? They had > to have been similar in other aspects, otherwise LC would be constantly > after every "innocent" who comes along One wild idea is that she's Fleur reincarnated. LaCroix, an old experienced vampire, might pick this up. Whereas Nick, younger and trying to stay away from vampire powers, might not. Someone else on the list pointed out that Frank ("Francesca") and Tracy's memories might mean the writers were working on the idea of souls turning up in each others company over and over. Fleur is certainly a candidate for this. And it would make LaCroix's "innocent goddess" remark both a statement of his feelings and a real barb at Nick, who wouldn't even realize he was the brunt of it. (ObWimpOut: I am not prepared to defend this at this time.) > 'Cause she finally found a job? i can relate :) Maybe, she's been suffering > from the "mobile family". Finally gets to a town she likes, doesn't want > to leave. If she and LC were lovers, tho, they certainly got started > right away... Suffering from "mobile family" is certainly possible. Although Vachon and company were probably in Toronto for a fair while before the Inca picked up his trail. If you rewatch the scene where Vachon tells her he's leaving, she looks upset and says she like it here. He says that no one's asking her to go. As he leaves, he kisses her cheek; she holds him to her. Clearly she is upset that he's leaving, yet feels strongly that she has reasons to stay. And given her outfit changes mentioned above, as well as lack of later season appearances as a dancer, it could be that LaCroix gave her a job, there was an initial attraction, they became lovers, and then she gave up her rather tacky job and outfits since he could provide for her. (LaCroix's pride would also dictate his lover not be a dancer in a club.) > i think you two brought up some very good points and, like Tippi, i don't > necessarily disagree - just seeing what i can come up with for the other > side. That's what makes this fun! John and Donna =========================================================================
