Subject: vampires with PTSD

So, I was talking with someone I know and we hit upon something: what if
FK vampires have a type of PTSD?

1) they have to die first - and that has to be both physically and
mentally traumatic.

2) most likely, as mortals, they were raised to believe that murder was a
sin/wrong; but then as a vampire, they have to do that very thing in order
to survive. And while the vampire brain sees that as normal/reasonable,
maybe there is still a part of the brain that remembers the mortal
teachings - which would require one part of the brain to suppress another
part, which is something that can the result of trauma.

3) the most vivid memories they have are about death, murder, betrayal,
revulsion, fear, etc. So, basically, the things they remember and relive
the most all stem from negative emotions. Which is what happens to people
with PTSD - they can't help but remember the bad stuff.

So, Nick isn't morally bad, he just has PTSD!

I think Nick had the beginnings of PTSD, before he ever met
Janette/LaCroix. He had been a soldier, in a down and dirty war, where
the killing was up close and vicious. Having escaped a murder charge, of
a woman he was falling for, only to find himself in the thick of combat,
must have weighed terribly upon him. raised as he was, put it all
together, and I think one reason LaCroix's offer appealed as it did, was
that he was in the PTSD quandry. He was not thinking as clearly as he
might have, had the various adventures never happened, and he was still
peacefully at home, with the family at Castle de Brabant.
Does anyone know, from the show's bible, whether Nick's father was
supposed to still be alive, when he went off to serve with Lord de
L'Barr, or the Crusade?
