We want to start after the holiday season and start of term, but well before spring vacation. Looking at the calendar, we could start the war on 25 January 2014, which is a Saturday (or the following day, if people prefer), and run it through the last week of January and the first week of February. I guess that would mean that the 20th anniversary celebration party would be in the evening of the 8th of February (a Saturday). Final posts (mopping up internal faction arcs, going-home stories, and the like) would then be posted on the 9th (Sunday). Though, as McLisa suggests, we could be easy about this. I mean, if something didn't get up till Monday or so, that would be fine. Would those dates work for people? We'd start out with as many factions as decide to play. In the last war (War 14), we had Cousins, Mercenaries, Nick & Nat Pack, Die-Hards, Knighties, Vaqueras, Ravenettes, Perks, and RatPackers. There was also one independent player. > The couple of Wars in which I played, NA and UF were > pretty major factions, WARring independently of the Cousins. Oh, I know! Unfortunately, times have changed. In War 13, the NA played with the Cousins. The UF were still around then; but none of them showed up for War 14. Several posts were made lamenting their absence, and that of other factions-that-used-to-be-big. The Perks were officially signed up; but Anne couldn't find time to "come to Toronto" so she sent everyone packages instead. (Not prank ones: we all enjoyed the brownies and coffee.) I should maybe add that people made a point of mentioning Schanke, Tracy, and Screed in their own faction's posts; so the characters weren't ignored. > Or are you looking to keep it to the single-character factions > and Die-Hards, leaving out the THING factions (e.g. > Caddywhacks, See-Thru Knighties) and so on... If you wanted to start the war officially playing as a member of the Caddywhackers--well, go for it! You'd be a faction of one, I expect. However, you wouldn't be the first faction-of-one in the history of the wars. Last time, we had one Ravenette (hey Alex!) and one Rat-Packer (Libby, of course). Alternatively, you might prefer to save that for the point where you get your faction "scrambled". I can well imagine that someone officially playing with the Knighties might get "scrambled" to a See-Thru Knightie. To the consternation of all of Nick's other followers, no doubt! Seriously, I am *hoping* some people pick obscure factions and fractions. Bring on the hijinks and mayhem! Oh, yes! This is the opportunity to strut the colours of your small faction-of-the-heart. There are plenty that have never had enough members to take part in a War before. (That's why I figure I'll start as a Die-Hard, and then get "scrambled" to a Feliksity.) I really liked both of the premises as outlined, but I have to admit that as soon as I read Greer's faction swapping idea, all sorts of fun things popped into my head that I'd LOVE to be able to play with in the war.
