Chaos could ensue I like the idea of renting Casa Loma! As for chaos: I'd be heartily surprised if it *didn't* ensue, given the way our wars go. On the other hand, this sounds to me like one extended story sequence. Party-and-shenanigans is very traditional; and we've had some delightful multi-parters in the past. Is this enough, though, to sustain an entire war? Let's elaborate things a bit. Suppose that the initial premise is "Let's all go to Toronto and have one great party to celebrate the anniversary." We decide (on or before arrival) that Casa Loma is the perfect venue. For a couple of days, people are taken up with their getting-to-Toronto and renting-Casa-Loma posts. A war premise could then side-swipe our initial plans, complicating everything a bit. We'd still all try to stay focused on the goal of getting our anniversary celebrations ready; but something else would be distracting us. And then, after the distraction is resolved, we head for Casa Loma. That way we *end* the war with our celebratory party. (As we always end with a party. *g*) Greer gwatson2@r....... http://www.foreverknight.org/FK4/ ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 12 Nov 2013 16:54:37 -0500 From: Greer Watson <gwatson2@r.......> Subject: WAR: Celebrations for 1st war anniversary Since McLisa says she's fine with people posting potential war premises, let me sketch mine out. Our first premise is simple: everyone is coming to Toronto for a big celebration of the 20th anniversary of the first war. So for a couple of days we play with that. People arrive, the venue (Casa Loma?) is hired, etc. Then suddenly.... Some players would suddenly be absolutely *certain* that they belonged to a different faction. (I have devised a whole little apparatus to "explain" this, which would be limited to the first and last posts, just to open and close things.) Now this would be voluntary. In all factions, there are bound to be some people who want to remain "normal". People who are in tiny factions-of-one would probably want to stick with their original choice. Independents, of course, make up their own minds. Who changes (and into what) would be worked out within each faction, depending on what sort of ideas they think will be fun. Three rules: 1. The switch can *not* be to one of the other factions officially playing. (Knighties can't become Vaqueras, Perks can't become Cousins, etc.) 2. You'd still be playing with the faction you signed up for. 3. No one can be "whammied" back to normal. Ideas? Well, in some factions, people might think it fun to play Dark off Light. Or they might want to bring up old subfactions, fractions, couple factions etc. (e.g. the Twilight Knighties, the Nunkies Anonymous, the UF). Then there are factions for friendly characters (e.g., for the Vaqs, someone might suddenly be certain she was really an Urchin or an INCArnate.) There are old factions we never see any more (like the FoDs and NatPack). There are even factions that *never* played war. (What if some old hand thought she was a new-to-war Cross-stitcher?) Personally? I'd leave Don and Ron the Enforcer to duke it out over the Die-Hards. *My* scrambled brain would be convinced that I was a Feliksity. (Yes, *any* other faction, even the newly invented ones.) Meanwhile.... While coping with this sudden confusion in the ranks, everyone would still remember that we're getting ready for the 20th anniversary bash. So that would be going on, too. Just before the final weekend, the factions are finally returned to normal. And we party. (Anyway, that's my idea.)
