That is highly significant in the context of "For > I have Sinned", of course; but, as an evolution in his salvation, it is I think one of the interesting things about FK is that because it didn't have a "book", the writers were free to put together just about anything they could a/ get away with, and b/ justify in some way. In this episode, Nick has a physical reaction to religious paraphernalia; in other episodes, it's psychological; and in still others, it's psychic or spiritual. That gives a lot of freedom in plot and character development, although, as you mention, a lot of inconsistencies too. But then, that's what make a lot of the show the fun that it is. Also there are a couple of scenes that are just wonderful: Schanke in the confessional with Nick, who it turns out, was the "priest". That was funny enough by itself, but the idea of Nick posing as a priest has its own amusing characteristics. Nick fainting to Fr. Rochefort's arms, with the Father saying, "Oh, my!" Plus Colin Fox is one of my favorite Canadian actors. He always add a stylish dignity to whatever role he is playing. And, Thea Gill who plays one of the victims went on to later fame as one of the secondary leads in "Queer as Folk" (which though set in Pittsburgh was filmed in Toronto). Watching the Geico commercial with the overdone Dracula character at the blood drive automatically reminds you very strongly of so many episodes of Forever Knight that you can't name all of them before the spot ends. However (if only ex post facto), one mustn't forget that obsidian raven dagger in "Blackwing". Nick found that painful to touch even before he knew it had religious significance. ============================= Or the representation of Ra, in the tomb, with Lucius and Divia. ------------------------------ End of FORKNI-L Digest - 30 Jun 2013 to 1 Jul 2013 (#2013-100) **************************************************************
