Der Vampircop Staffel 3 DVD? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Tue, 14 May 2013 15:36:59 -0700 From: Otto Maton <auto17921111@h.......> Subject: FK Season 3 vs. S1 & S2: one fan's perspective I sent this last week (at time of resending today 5/14) but it appears list glitches prevented it from posting. Trying again, with apologies for the dumb typos, and hope no one takes seriously what is obviously written in jest. -------------------------------------- Thank you Tim & Andrew for your input. My email was long enough so I could not explain that I pretty much came to FK during S3. So I have the opposite perspective. The show really grabbed me and left me spellbound & speechless week after week. I thought the entire production was out-of-this-world top of the line, (yes, lame adjectives but words categorically fail me here) the characters compelling and the acting of high caliber considering the topic.. "Vampire cop, are you kidding me?!? I don't watch that..!" ;-) To date, I have never seen a show that comes close, with the exception perhaps of... (and, I'll speak for everyone because, yes, I am that arrogant I think everyone will agree here...and some, I know, will think it's even superior) ...with the exception of FK S1 and S2! :-P The year was 2002 when I turned on Sci Fi while I was getting ready for work late one morning (I was working afternoons to late eves then) and on my screen was none other but good ole Nick Knight getting a shot... collapsing... then going out in the sunlight.. he was finally cured! Work? What work?! Who cares! I sat on the edge of my bed and was riveted during that entire episode. "They went there? no way!" I could not believe what I was seeing. First time I saw Schanke, (who is this dude?? What have they done with my Tracy??) I was blown away!!! That scene at the restaurant when Nick is scarfing down the mafioso's spaghetti... ("Do you want to eat?" "No thanks!" *dips bread in sauce & chows down*) Ger had me in stitches, and I didn't know his name was John Kapelos but I loved him right then and there! I don't know who was more excellent in the scene, the back & forth banter was priceless. The gentleman who played the mafioso was perfect too. I love that scene! One of my favorite episodes ever... LaCroix spurting out "You will always be mine... eternally..!" as the smoke threatens to imminently turn him to ashes.... (going from memory here, forgive me if it's not verbatim) Of course, it was The Fix and I was transfixed! And I forgot all about Tracy just like I forget all about Schanke whenever she takes over. I love them both the same for different reasons. If anyone is wondering, I got to work on time, with a big goofy grin on my face! From then on, I would tape all the episodes every day before leaving and watch them circa 11-11:30pm at night, perfect time to watch FK! It was back. I was back! Me, my VCR/TV combo, pitch darkness in the dead of night and my favorite show as only friend. I don't want to get all melodramatic how this show helped me cope with stuff I was dealing with at the time but let's just say that for one hour every night, I came alive, I no longer felt like the proverbial outsider looking in: I was no longer "undead" yet more proud to belong to their undead family than my own; if only in my mind, for that brief period where time stood still for only me, I was one of them too. I was office worker by day, closeted hard-core vampire cop fan by night. I had/have never been this engrossed with characters, never been more into a show, never before identified with themes they presented in such spectacular fashion night after night.. or should I say Knight after Knight.--- ----Another thrilling episode, for me, is when Nat first meets Nick in those flashbacks in Only The Lonely! It was a dream come true that all these questions I had in the late 90's after Last Knight were finally being answered. It was like they read my mind time-travel fashion and made this episode for only me. Something like that. (If anyone wonders why I never looked it up in detail, I didn't know what the internet was till 2001 and was only online for a brief period then and busy with other stuff, then not online again for ages). Anyway, sorry for rambling on silly like this. But thank you for allowing me this trip down memory lane. In conclusion S3 will always have a special place in my heart but I know I missed out on a lot not having found this show at its inception. This will always be one of my biggest regrets, however it came back to me at the perfect time in 2002. As much as I adore the intense episodes of S3 (Knight in Question; Dead of Night...), some of my favorite are in S1 & S2. If you'd ask me which is my favorite season, I honestly don't know but I tend to be faithful to things that came first, and for me S3 was first. But I adore Schanke and at some point ("Blind Faith") I hated LaCroix so much, my favorite episodes were the S1 ones where he doesn't appear... until I watch my favorite ones and he's always there, menacing, evil, loathsome...and yet compelling and compassionate in his own way with his "undying" love for Nick. Yes, this show is high caliber for many more reasons than I could ever try to put into words without probably boring the list to tears about stuff you yourselves, no doubt, discussed back in the 90's. But for me it was really like I "discovered America" then. Uh... my apologies, CANADA! (In fact, that's when my passion for Canada started.) :-) I think a rewatch is in order... soon! Otto PS: A bit late, but I want to add my condolences to Libby & group ref. Mr. Greg Kramer. It is clear that Libby was blessed in knowing such a creative soul, and I look forward to reading any memories you might feel like sharing with all of us. Beyond FK, I didn't know much about him but one thing is apparent from what I have perused since: he was well loved among his peers & fans alike. R.I.P, eternally, Mr. Kramer and thank you for the memories. . ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 14 May 2013 15:03:26 -0700 From: Otto Maton <auto17921111@h.......> Subject: Der Vampircop Staffel 3 DVD? Would anyone happen to know or have any indication when we can expect the release of FK S3 in German(y)? Or is that it? Does anyone know if the German version for S3 has scenes we don't have in our Region 1 DVDs? (Sorry if it's been discussed already) Thanks! ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 14 May 2013 18:32:51 -0700 From: Jeannie <nickismom1228@a.......> Subject: Re: FK Season 3 vs. S1 & S2: one fan's perspective I really enjoyed your enthusiasm. I watch a couple of episodes when the shoe came on new. Late night tv. Scared me too much lol. Years later I caught parts of it in the mornings before Dark Shadows my favorite show from the late 60s and 70's. I really started to like it. It must have been season 3 because when Last Night Played I freaked and did run to the Internet only to find that was the end. I did finally see all of them and wrote fanfiction under the name Gersknightlady. :) Jeannie On May 14, 2013, at 3:36 PM, Otto Maton <auto17921111@h.......> wrote: > I sent this last week (at time of resending today 5/14) but it appears > list glitches prevented it from posting.
