FKCommentFic Winter Challenge: Bloor Mistletoe Stations ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Thu, 6 Dec 2012 22:15:12 -0500 From: Greer Watson <gwatson2@r.......> Subject: Alumni sighting So I tune into the first half of the big series finale of Flashpoint, and who do I see? Catherine Disher! She's playing the senior person in the main 911 centre in Toronto. She's looking good. And now I've got to run, since I don't want to miss the rest of the episode. The FKCommentFic community (on LiveJournal and/or Dreamwidth) is holding a casual winter challenge. Any FK fan may play by posting a commentfic story in response to the prompt at any time through January 6. Of course the stories may also be cross-posted to fkfic-l, the AO3 and anywhere else appropriate. * What is "commentfic"? * Traditionally, a "commentfic" is a story short enough to fit in a comment (i.e. reply) on a social journaling website. So, ~100-1000 words: drabbles, ficlets, vignettes -- very short stories of every stripe. (Amilyn subtitled the community "Bite-Size FK Fic." Pun intended.) * What is the challenge? * As you can read in the Toronto Star (just Google it up), the Bloor Annex Business Improvement Area recently "installed 21 kissing stations" between Bathurst ST and Spadina AVE. Each station suspends a red-ribboned bunch of fake mistletoe from a tinsel-bedecked lamp over a white circle with red text: "Mistletoe Kissing Station Approved by the Bloor Annex BIA." This decorating effort may draw a variety of responses: silly, serious, personal, professional... The challenge: Picture this real initiative in FK's fictional Toronto! * What are the rules? * Be polite to your fellow players. Don't get off the topic of FK. Don't post RPF. Don't chat about the challenge instead of fulfilling it. Do share feedback! And... that's it. Really. This is a small, no-stress, no-commitments game, open to every FK character, every FK faction and every FK fan's own winter traditions. * Where can I get more information? * Find the FKCommentFic community on LJ http://fkcommentfic.livejournal.com/ or on DW http://fkcommentfic.dreamwidth.org/. You may comment anonymously, or using OpenID, or -- ideally! -- with DW and/or LJ accounts. If you have questions about how to sign up for an account on either site, Greer W. (gwatson2@r.......) has very generously offered to answer. (Thank you, Greer.) * Have any stories been posted so far? * Yep, one: a nostalgic Nick/Natalie piece by Melissa T. on the DW side of the community. There's no schedule (besides the final deadline of January 6) so you never know when the next one may turn up. Come play! Make that next one yours! ;-) --- Amy R. akr@l.......
