Whether this is significant to the disappearance of Part 4 of the story or not, I do not know. I merely note it in case it's significant. to the problem of missing information. Carry on. Thanks for the link. That might have had something to do with it being somewhat diaphanous. ;-) Laurie of the Isles Laudon1228@y....... http://1-mad-squirrel.livejournal.com/ http://1-mad-squirrel.dreamwidth.org/ ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 23 Oct 2012 18:44:24 -0700 From: Laurie of the Isles <laudon1228@y.......> Subject: Picture this I have a mental image for you. Those posts don't come to me at all unless they appear on the list. I"m sorry if that's causing a problem. Now, here's why we have the listserv software set up so that it automatically puts any new address on review. It can't tell if the new sub is actually a long-time member. It even did this to me when I subscribed a secondary address. Some years ago, we had a problem with a flamester who was determined to set fire to the list and to me in particular. The flamester kept coming back under different addresses, Finally we set the software so that all new subs are set to review. If this happens to you and you think I can help, let me know. I can reset a sub to noreview. Usually I do this when I know that subscriber. If this sounds overcautious, trust me. You do not want to be in a firefight. It's not pleasant. Thanks, all. McLisa (Lisa McDavid) "That will be trouble." listowner, Forkni-l & Fkfic-l mclisa1014@g....... ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 23 Oct 2012 08:29:45 -0700 From: Otto Maton <auto17921111@h.......> Subject: Re: Weirder & Bizarroid story I'm intending for this to go to the list (disclaiming this as I sent 3 private email replies to the list several hours agoby mistake but hopefully they won't make it through). Please note: time (ie "4 hrs ago") will be altered by the time you read this as some of my emails to the list have been delayed by 12 and sometimes almost 24hrs. I just want to say that I had replied to all of you who have sent me inquiries directly to my email and I sent you all the story (part 4) some 4 hours ago. Every single one of you whose email was at my inbox was emailed at least one personal reply, not just a standard copy/paste. But M.L's new inquiry (sent to my email about 1 hour ago) leads me to believe that maybe some of you never received it and perhaps there is a problem with my emails repeatedly not being delivered to recipients? This would actually solve the mystery of why 85% of the FK list people whom I've emailed privately never reply my emails. (Not knowing any better, I've chucked it to it being a "Canadian thing" and a major culture clash, to say the least.) I am still puzzled as to why 2 persons chose to ignore my emails of way back when and truly did rack my brains as to what could possibly have been either misunderstood or simply caused them to react with sheer silence, but Don's reply of this morning allowed me to see that he, too, never received my inquiry as to why my list reply to Greer's new factions request never posted. (Although I mournfully lament the lack of Nick's colorful blazer factions of mainly S1, I did have me a good laugh at Nick's See Thru Knightie. Greer is just brilliant in her work, both of the digital and written kind and the FK fandom is truly lucky to have her among our own. And I hope I'm not being too forward saying "our" as I've been on the outside looking in for I think decades now, never able to touch a---uh...well, water under the bridge now.) I know that sometimes things get "lost in translation", tone does not translate in email and people often second guess stuff that wasn't there---nor implied---according to how they're feeling when they read it, and also I think we've all assumed one thing was said when the intention was quite different at one time or another, people don't always grasp my often irreverent, facetious, corny or absurd humor and even last month a close friend attributed malice to something I said via email in jest and I'm glad I wasn't given the silent treatment because that would have caused more problems; instead I was able to pick up the phone and---in spite of the total shock I sensed at the end of the line calling unannounced---say "hey, sorry I came across that way, I honestly was not upset and didn't mean to upset you, I wasn't being rude, I wrote that in jest as a figure of speech". We cleared the air, my friend was glad I phoned and we're good as new. So, if you have emailed me in response to my post of yesterday, and you have not received my email reply, please know I'm not ignoring you and kindly do let me know. I'm sure I will receive your email, but not sure you will receive my reply back. At any rate, Steph has graciously uploaded the Bizarroid (to say the least) *G* fic to her FTP stories archives site so hopefully you'll all be able to read it. However I would still like to know if my personal emails are getting as lost as those I had typed in the list box at the .edu site. Sorry for any inconvenience to everyone, hope this posts and hope you're having a great Tuesday/Wednesday, wherever you are! Otto. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 24 Oct 2012 02:29:00 -0400 From: Emily Lacey <laceyem@h.......> Subject: Re: really late reply Re: [FORKNI-L] 100 Things we learned from FOREVER KNIGHT Would some kind soul please point me to where this list is?
