As someone who missed out on the first few Wars, this sounds like fun! I'm
used to a loose RP in an other fandom.
As soon as The Knighties send out the call my permission slip will be on
record.

Hello Greer,

The Mercs have had a symbol for a long time. I'll forward it to you
privately and see what you can do with it?

To the Grand High Pooh-Bah,

Mildred, I've looked out the font that I mentioned in my letter to Sara.
Its name is "Sterling Panic". I've checked, and the $ is indeed remarkably
like the one in the old Mercenary Guild symbol that you sent me.

I propose that I redo the symbol, so that it will be in colour rather than
black-and-white. This will bring it in accord with the redone symbols on
other faction icons. To this end, I shall crisp up the lines of the
Sterling Panic $ so that it can be laid over a coloured background, thus
providing a coloured $ to incorporate into the design. I am inclined to
employ a gold-toned gradient for this purpose in order to give the
impression of gold metal.

The old symbol also includes a pair of swords, identical in design, but
employed as crossed mirror images. These will also need to be redone. Does
the Mercenary Guild collectively (or do you as their Grand High Pooh-Bah)
have preferences in cutlery?

As a faction leader for the Cousins, I'm all in favor of anything
that lightens our workload. :)

>Saves used to be half the fun.

Making something fit in with other events is indeed half the fun. I
still remember one time where another faction launched an attack that
had them getting inside CERK unnoticed by us until it was too late,
in spite of our high-tech security system. I wrote something up that
had one of the Cousinly kitties get stuck inside the security console
and I had to turn off the system to get him out. I forgot to turn
the system back on, and got called on the carpet by Lacroix for it
later. Hey, always willing to take one for the team in the name of comedy. :)

The Enforcer would like to play but from October to the end of the year
my job has me working 6 day weeks on and off until New Year's so my
participation could be spotty if we War up anytime between now and the
end of the year. So...flying up from Texas (and yeah my arms will be
tired <grin>) but not sure how much I'll be doing once I make it to
Toronto!
I'm keeping an eye on all the War talk so when things get going I can
see where I can jump in!

O Grand High Pooh-Bah!

As swords are still appropriate, they shall be provided. However, in
referring to "cutlery", it was actually the swords that I meant. I
appreciate the sheer bloody cuteness of the idea of incorporating a fondue
fork in the design; but I think it will be difficult for people to get the
point(s).

Remember, the symbol for the Mercenary Guild, being more or less equal in
length and width, will occupy much of the central portion of the icon. It
*must* do so if its details are to be visible. (Bear in mind the *tiny*
size of icons of this sort.) There will therefore be little room for a
fondue fork. One could, I suppose, be laid horizontally at the bottom of
the icon or across the top; or a pair might be set on either side of the
symbol. However, people would still need to correctly identify the
implement, which I suspect would be difficult.

I am inclined, therefore, not to include a fondue fork. However, that is
not to say that I am unable to work in *other* Mercenary icongraphy.
Certainly, you have a very interesting website.

Also, I do need some information about the desired swords. As you will have
noticed (assuming you've looked at the icons I've made for other factions),
I have employed different styles: the sword I used to symbolize Nick is not
the one I used for Lacroix. What sort of sword do the Mercs favour?

I also don't think I'll be able to participate. However, I might do like I
did last time and loan myself out IF I'm kept in my Ratpacker persona (and
Ratspeak).
