There's nothing that says just because he did get that training that he can't step beyond it to do something innovative and experimental. Classically trained dancers or musicians can take that training, twist it, turn it inside out, and produce something that's totally new and different. Sometimes you just want to smear paint on a flat surface, and the kind of paint or the kind of surface doesn't matter. He's not out to impress anyone with technique---he's just using the paint to scream out his frustrations and angst. Not songs from the show (although it could include some of those) but ones that resonate for you with some aspect of the show?
