Subject: Rumors of war/checking in
I just wanted to pop by. It seems like forever since I had the time, thought
etc. to drop in. My real life* has taken over as I have started a foray into
journalism with a weekly newspaper column in addition to my 40+ hour a week job
and my PT retail job.
McLisa posted last week on Facebook that war was looming and so I managed to
remember to stop by! Wading through my 1200+ (but beyond 1228, durnit) mails.
Anything interesting going on? =D

While wading through some of the archives and reading old favorites, I've
noticed something that got my brain working. Several authors have used the
assumption that a person has to give their permission to become a vampire
(consent freely given, I think the phrase is). Is there anything in the
show to back this up, or is it strictly speculation?

Yes, it's in the show. We see LaCroix consenting, although he thinks he's
humoring Divia as a child, and Nick admits to Nat at one point that he did have
a choice. I don't know if this applies to animals like Perry who were brought
over by Carouches <g>.

There's also the point that when they are drained they have the choice with the
"guide" as Nick calls it. (forget the ep, been ages since I watched)
They can choose to go back and become a vampire, or die and be judged. Nick
chose (and I think Janette mentions that she did as well) to go back to Lacroix
and live as a vampire.
So I dont think it's a verbal choice per se, but a choice within oneself.

Hi Amanda,I checked my Torrent sites for this with no luck. You might try
randomfandom.com. They're usually prety good about being able to find
different stuff that hasn't come out on DVD. They're really good with the
stuff that only got 1 season.

Hi-Havent really posted on the list in a while. I've been lurking.
Lately I've been getting back into the fandom.I have been doing some
massive cleanout the past few months and apparently managed to get rid
of my Black Harbour vhs tapes (not that I have a vcr anymore to watch them,
but...)Anyhoo... does anyone have the eps on disc or on their computer? Or
knows where I can watch it.
I have tried the major online sites like Hulu and youtube only seems
to have the opening credits.I'd really love to watch this show again.
I'll gladly reimburse you for shipping or discs. Thanks so much!
