At 03:23 PM 7/28/2010, Green Watson despaired about the lack of
material about the behind-the-scenes planning for War posts and so
on. (I'm not quoting because I can't edit it down far enough for list
requirements.)

In the Wars in which I participated, some planning went on in faction
mailing lists, but most went on in private IRC channels or in
one-on-one AIM chats, or in a combination of those. Unless one sets
one's IRC application to log all chat sessions (and not replace older
conversations with newer conversations in the same room), the content
of those sessions is lost.

For what it's worth, I do have megabytes of archived e-mails of
drafts of posts, discussions about drafts of posts, and -- though I'd
be very surprised if they were complete transcripts -- posts
regarding the content of faction IM/IRC discussions for the Celtic
Glow Worms during Wars 9 and 10. (Also, FWIW, you can probably find
more War-related material on the Fiendish Glow web site than on
whatever might remain of the CGW web site or the Tequila Fiends' web site.)

Another thing to add to the historical record is that some of our
more prolific War-universe writers wrote stories in the War universe
that were not directly related to time-limited Wars. (Bonnie
Rutledge, writing for the Nunkies Anonymous faction, comes
immediately to mind.)

If your topics are set to ALL on both lists, do you still have to set +WAR?

BTW, hi folks. :) Long time no see.

Well, rumors of War on the UF list led me to check out some of the recent
digests. I'm still a member, but I don't read this list as regularly as I
used to.

I'm one of the old timers. I joined the list early on--I believe some time
after the first War so I guess it was 1994? I played myself starting in War 2
and in every War after that. I see that some of the links I had to past War
archives are no more.
War 8 used to be on fkfanfic.com--what happened to it? War 9 was on a
geocities site. I don't know where Wars 10-12 are archived. I have Wars 11
and 12 filed away on my computer.

It's hard to believe it's been 18 years since FK first aired. Some of the
posts and fic I saved from the early days were to floppy disks. I don't even
know if I have them anymore.

There were some great discussions and fic in the old days. I was on
FKSpoiler too. Some great discussion and reading there too.

I never got to any conventions that featured FK. I did meet Ger at a
Gerthering, as well as some list members. I've run into list members at other
conventions.

I hope the airing of FK on Chiller has generated more fan interest.

There isn't really an ALL setting, but if you've sent the +ALL
command, you'll be set to receive all topics - including War
messages.

And if you're set to receive Digests, you get all messages -
regardless of what topics you've turned on or off.
