On the DVDs:
Dying to Know You (Season 1 episode 6 - the one
with the Psychic)
At the end of the episode Nick is reflecting upon
what has happened and snippets of dialog play over
the background.
The scene starts with him sitting on the floor of his
loft, wearing a white shirt and jeans; he is facing the
outer wall and throwing a ball at it and then catching
it in a catcher's mitt.
The scene changes and he is in a dark (red?) robe
lying on the floor next to what appears to be a chess
set. The camera pans up and we see him as if we
were looking down from the ceiling. The camera
pans back down.
Dead Air (Season 1 episode 10 - the one with the
Radio Shrink
In the middle of the episode, we see the same
setting as above; i.e., Nick is lying on the floor in
the same dark reddish robe. This time he is tossing
cards. The cards appear to be tarot cards, but I
couldn't see them well enough to tell specifically.
the backs of the cards had a pentagram inscribed.
I couldn't see that he was actually tossing the cards
into anything, but he was throwing some of them the
way someone would who was trying to get them into
a hat of some sort, or maybe he was just tossing them.
The scene switches to showing him next to the
chess set again. It would appear to be same footage
from before.
The sound track is similar with Nick hearing
snippet's of previous conversations from the
episode with music from the video "The Night
Calls My Name" playing.
