Does anyone remember the history of the FKSPOILR list (was it FKSPOILR-L?)?
I was never subscribed to that list. I know it went away when the series ended,
but I have no info on it.

I had the most sublimely ridiculous image pop into my head: LaCroix on a
bicycle. Would LaCroix have learned to ride one, do you think? Or would he

Oh, I think LaCroix would have learned to ride. He is
eminently practical and pragmatic and riding would certainly
beat walking. He did learn to ride a horse, although that
was probably before he was brought over.
The amusing image would be of LaCroix riding badly
with the wheel wobbling all over the place with him barely
able to keep his balance. He would never allow that to be seen.
Only riding a bike elegantly with dignity.
On the other hand, why ride a bike when you can fly?

I'm trying hard to think of a situation in which Lacroix would have to
ride a bike as opposed to hiring a carriage or another vehicle.

He's got money and dignity. He doesn't need exercise. Why would he get
on a bicycle? Or, heaven forbid, a penny-farthing?

This brings to mind the excellent story, "Lacroix Takes the Wheel," in
which Nick attempts to teach LC how to drive. Read this story. Now. It

I know a few members were wondering when Chiller was going to move beyond the
early and mid season 1 episodes for their marathons.
Chiller will be airing the final stretch of season 1 episodes and two episodes
from season 2 on Thursday, January 7th.

I can't imagine him ever using one, especially the early ones since they really
made the rider look more ridiculous than anything. But Lacroix always struck me
as the one to keep up with the latest technology never mind which one. I'm also
pretty sure he knows how to drive a car without Nick having to teach him
anything. But go read that story Nancy mentioned, it's hilarious.

This is rather specific, and quite possibly unlikely, but there
are a number of small inhabited islands where motor vehicles
are banned, such as (I believe), the Channel Islands (Guernsey,
Jersey, Sark). Are cars allowed on Prince Edward Island?
Anyway, a community so small would notice strangers.
Especially strangers who came one day, deaths followed,
then the strangers left, and the deaths stopped. Bicycles
and carriages would be the last thing NK and LC would
have to worry about in that situation.
But how about Nick being on patrol at night on a bike?
Doesn't Toronto have some officers on bikes?

I went to see 2012 in the movies this weekend and was thrilled to see Blu,
Capt Reese, in the movie. He plays a lounge singer/piano player and he's
lost a lot of weight. He looks great.

If I recall my history correctly, bicycles were considered a manly mode of
transportation in the 1890s and 1900s in higher society social circles.
Especially on the east coast. So I would think Nick and perhaps LaCroix would
have learned to ride as a means of attracting interesting prey. Now, LC on a
velocipede in a flat-topped straw hat and striped suit coat would have been
quite the sight.
Most people have minds like concrete: mixed up or permanently set.
