So, I'm cleaning out my fridge ... because I'm moving.

And what do I find tucked WAY in the back? A big ol' bottle of Ribena
concentrate.

Anyone want to guess the expiration date?

December 1996!

Two words: Holy. Crap.

To be fair, though, I have some strange things tucked away around this
apartment too. I know for a fact I have the tapes of the series floating
around here, as well as some fanfic I'd printed and/or saved.

Um...don't hold your breath. No professional would waste time writing
fanfic. And RTD has always been way busy. If this person were involved with
the industry, I have no doubt it was on the tech side, not the talent side.
Or was a student in a script-writing class.

Actually, some professionals do occasionally write fan fic. I
actually had one publisher who encouraged me to do it because every
time I posted Forever Knight fan fic, people would google for more
and stumble across his site with sales going up! <g> I've been on
discussion panels at sci fi cons with full-time professional writers
who admitted they occasionally dabbled for fun.

However, it is extremely rare, I think. Most don't have time as
they must focus on works that will put food on the table. I can't
really see a television writer having time to do so and there very
well could be some major conflict of interests. I'm fairly certain
the television studios frown on it majorly and a script writer won't
want to risk it. I won't write or read comic book related fanfic for
that reason, even cross overs with Forever Knight.

I've added the Canadian Cuts to the FK terminology on fan history.com.

http://www.fanhistory.com/index.php/Canadian_cut

I could only remember or find a few of them.

If you have more specifics, please click on the page, then either
click edit at the top of the page or click edit in the section you
would like to edit.

Do you think "German version" should also be listed as a separate
terminology page? And does anyone else remember the German flesh
shots from the other episodes?

Hey, Nat!

Thanks very much - they'd be a great addition to the episode pages.

I'll link those to the episode pages when I get a chance.

I've created a page for your fansite:
http://www.fanhistory.com/index.php/Forever_Knight_Episode_Archives

and linked it up to the images and fansite listings.

Please go to that link, hit edit, and add the information about your site.

Thanks very much for the help!

Great! I also created a fanfiction archive page for you at:

http://www.fanhistory.com/index.php/Forever_Knight_Fan_Fiction_by_JL_Kerr

Just click on the link, click the edit tab, and fill in the
categories you like (you can delete the categories you don't need).

I'm afraid I don't have time to create the individual pages for your
fanfic, but you can do that by copying the source template from:
http://www.fanhistory.com/index.php/Template:Story

enter the name of your story into the search engine (no quote marks)
Click the go button
then click the red link that asks you if you want to create that page
When the form comes up, comp in the template, save it, then edit the
page to your heart's content.

Oh, and don't forget to add [[Category:Forever Knight fan fiction]]
at the bottom of your page, so your story will show up on the fanfiction page.

If you had any stories nominated or that won any of the FK awards, go
to the awards page and add a link.

That's what I like about this wiki - it's pretty much a
do-it-yourself kind of thing.

Any questions, you know where to find me!

Most excellent. I'll probably create individual terminology pages
for those and it will be great to have that info to start with. I'm
glad I have a lot of the old digests, so I can track the history on
this stuff.

If you see something that you can add or fix on the wiki - just hit

Subject: Episode Discussion: The Fire Inside

Well...better a week late than never.

1) why does Nick travel with Janette/LaCroix? His answer of "preferring
security in numbers" sounds forced...as if he made it up on the spot.
Seems pretty clear that he is conflicted at this time. He won't kill,
but he does still wish to be with Janette/LaCroix.

2) the look on Janette's face is interesting when the runaway slaves
reveal themselves. LaCroix is very amused, but Janette looks as
concerned as Nick. It flashes on and off, but she does have maternal
instincts

3) Natalie is really thrown by having to deal with the body of the 1st
victim. You'd think a coronor in a major city would deal with multiple
bad fire victims (from building fires) over the course of a year. It
gives the character something to do, but it doesn't seem terribly
logical.

4) OK, I know it is a TV show..and certain rules of logic don't apply...
but why the heck would the lights be on in what appear to be deserted
utility corridors? Of course, throughout this entire thing there is a
lot more amibent light around than I think would really be the case in a
real sewer/utility system (at least judging by having watched too much
Mike Rowe's Dirty Jobs).

5) Nick and Schanke only brought 1 flashlight between them? I know Nick
doesn't really need one, but Schanke doesn't know that.

6) I like the way that they had Cohen handle Natalie's issue with the
burn victim. She didn't do the stereotypical "screaming captain of
detectives" thing. She actually showed some management skill and
compassion for a fellow worker.

7) does anyone know if the color change for the vampire eyes (from a
green glow to orange) was a deliberate color shift or do to a new
technique for doing the glow that was simply easier/safer?

8) Not really a military flamethrower. More of a hopped up propane
torch. The thing doesn't have any real range. Either Nick or Schanke
could have shot the guy several times...although then the story would be
over too quick.

9) Nick and Natalie sitting cheek-to-cheek by the fireplace in Nick's
place is one of my very favorite NickAndNatePacker images.

Howdy all,
I'll be traveling over the weekend of the 4th and the
week after to OH. I'll be in Dayton for a few days
then heading to Cleveland for 5 days. If anyone is
going to be in the area, drop me a line offlist and
maybe we can touch base. (And I'll be staying at a

Yes, myth. For the last and ultimate time - the "aired" German
version is the Canadian version. What else there was, was left on the
cutting room floor.

5. Enter this text [[Category:Forever Knight fans]]
6. Click the SAVE PAGE button
7. Go back to
http://www.fanhistory.com/index.php/Category:Forever_Knight_fans -
you're on the list!

Now, how do you enter the data about YOU? (This can be used by the
people who have just created their record or who already exist.)
1. Click on

2. Copy the contents
3. Click on your name link on
http://www.fanhistory.com/index.php/Category:Forever_Knight_fans

change or remove acetgories that don't apply to you, add more
categories etc. As you make your changes, click the preview button
to view them.

It is also a good idea to click the SAVE PAGE button occasionally and
open edit again, just to save what you have so far.

[[text]] is what you use to highlight a page that exists - or will
exist - the wiki. It can be used for show names, episode names, fan
names, names of fanworks, etc.

If you also belong to other fandoms, add [[Category:SERIES fans]] to
the bottom of your listing and you'll show up on other fan pages.

Graphic information warning - please skip if you're easily grossed out.

I read a book by a forensic physical anthropologist a few years ago. He
noted that one gets used to the smell of rotting human flesh (and the
"Vick's on the lip" trick does *not* work, btw), but burn victims are
actually tougher to deal with because the smell is quite reminiscent of
barbecued meat, leading to a desire for same, and subsequent conflicted
feelings.

> 5) Nick and Schanke only brought 1 flashlight between them?

Let's just say one of them is better at planning and organization than the
other :)

> 8) Not really a military flamethrower.
Also, the *real* cause of death from flamethrowers isn't burns, it's
asphyxiation, as the fire rapidly consumes all the air in the vicinity. But
as a terrifying weapon, it's hard to beat.

	True.
Nick doesn't seem the "sweat the details" much with things like
paperwork. I can easily believe that Schanke knows if he wants a
flashlight, he'd better make sure it is available himself...as Nick
won't even think about it (especially since Nick really doesn't need
it).

> 8) Not really a military flamethrower.

I do not believe you are generally correct, but this isn't the
place to debate esoteric military hardware.
	:-)

Arming the guy with a flamethrower did make him a creditable
threat to Nick and did let them tie Nick and Natalie's joint fear of
fire together into the storyline.
It is interesting symbology that the show ends with both of them
relaxing before the contained flame of Nick's fireplace.
They fear unrestrained fire...not "domesticated" fire.
And the fear of lack of restraint and the welcoming of restraint
is a theme that is there in Nick and Natalie's interpersonal
relationship

Subject: Pages updated

I've been working feverishly over the past couple of days to get my
FK web page updated. The main page now contains banner links to my
screen capture archives, my fan fiction, and my extensive FK links
page (with new links added for the FK Fan History Wiki pages).

http://www.squidge.org/~nat1228/fk.htm

The links near the bottom of the page, to such oldies-but-goodies as
the "FK Nepotism Page" and others, have all been updated. All pages
have been moved OFF Fortune City, Tripod, and Angelfire and onto the
ad-free, pop-up free server that hosts my main FK page. Come and take
a look -- reminisce. Unfortunately, I was unable to update the
pictures as well, since the source video for these pages is long
lost. I hope you'll find them enjoyable just the same.

And if McLisa and Don would ever like to send me updated pictures of
themselves, I'd gladly get them posted to replace the older ones
currently up at the site. :-)

Oh, one last thing... If we have any cross stitchers in the fandom --
I'd love to post a picture of your handiwork on my Cross Stitchers of
the Knight page. Just send me a JPEG of your work and a little blurb
about its background.
