I agree, Nick's further explanation is absurd, and I bet Schanke accepted it
as such---one of those joking things that buddies say to each other. The
reaction is, "Uh-huh, sure, of course you just switched the money from one
account to another. And I'm the Queen of England." Schanke no doubt believes
the first version, that the bank was just making Nick's account look good to
help out the police.

If he does routinely keep that much money in a bank (stupid from an
investment point of view!) I would suspect that it's explained away as an
inheritance. There's nothing that says a cop can't be a trust-fund baby.

How does Janette always manage to look so fab if she can't see her own
reflection??

And who does all their cleaning???

Does nick really use a cleaning service in his Loft??? I can't see
that. But I also have an issue with the image of Nick scrubbing the
tub....

If vampires can be cops, then why not have vampires owning a 'night only'
cleaning service.

In the world of vampires, there's probably a difference in social and
economical status as there is in the human society.

When I was watching the series, I thought the same thing, and that was the
conclusion I came to; vampires cleaned Nick's loft.

Janette has her current "boytoy" clean it for her.

Yes, because he's much too old and powerful to have to live with dirt.

Maybe---but I have no problem seeing Nick do his own cleaning. I mean, what
else is there to do on a long day stuck inside (besides sleeping, that is)? It
could all be part of his quest to be human and normal.

And while Lacroix and Janette seem to have always led upper-class lives through
the ages, Nick's incarnations have been up and down the social ladder. He
wouldn't always have been in the position to keep servants or hire cleaners if he
were to be convincing in his current role. As a result I think he would have
 been fairly self-sufficient.

I've always pictured him taking care of himself and his loft this way. I bet he
does a lot of tinkering on the Caddy, too---that garage is probably equipped
 with a lot of tools.

At least he'd have no problem cleaning the windows---who needs a ladder when
you can simply levitate? And dusting those tall walls? Piece of cake! I wish he'd
come over to my house and clean out my gutters. <g>

I thought one of the episodes (Father Figure comes to
mind but I may be mistaken) have someone getting
access to the loft by getting a key copied from Nick's
cleaning service? I seem to recall his housekeeper was
Hispanic? (Or, of course, maybe I read it in a story
somewhere LOL)...

However, I think Deb's suggestion smells of a story...

I think I remember a series of stories where Urs and
Nick were together and he was upset because the
business she wanted to start was a cleaning service
for other vampires. Apparently she'd been cleaning the
church for Vachon and wanted to be paid.
