To me, there is not that much difference between the 1st and the 2nd seasons. The main difference is that the 2nd season had more money, so the sets might look a bit shinier, and the costumes a bit better, etc. The stories and the writing were about the same: good. >>Stonetree was my favorite captain. > Mine also. I liked the non-sense approach of Cptn Cohen. I wish they had given her more to do. Cptn Reese was pretty good as well - I do hope that someday he gets some water from that cooler. ;-) Walt Doherty Phoenix, AZ ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 3 Dec 2007 17:14:25 -0500 From: Gaelin Wade <gaelinwade@a.......> Subject: Re: Episode Discussion: Killer Instinct Season two has always been my favorite season. I'm not sure I can say the overall quality of writing was better, but I found that I the stories were more appealing and the character development more interesting. I also think season 2 provided greater variety in terms of that character development. There was less rigid focus on an angsty Nick and more on the interaction between Nick and the people who inhabited his world. Season 3 took that variety to an extreme in that there were so many new characters introduced that the focus was spread a little too much. I saw a portion of a tv special that sci-fi ran on Tin Man earlier in the week and they showed a quick flash of Blu Mankuma. He had some majorly bushy and long sideburns. I read in an article somewhere that he was playing a shapeshifting Toto. I'm not quite sure if Toto talks while in dog form but if he does he'll undoubtedly be voiced by BM. Being a vampire gave her the powers to make her childish desires happen....but I think she was not quite right before she was made into a vampire. There was a mention that Divia had been ill prior to when she became a vamp. When I first saw that episode I thought that her illness was because a vamp was feeding on her slowly, making her weaker over time. This discussion has me wondering if perhaps she truly was ill, possibly with something like syphilis that can affect brain function? Or to borrow from last night's episode of Tin Man and of course FK's Sons of Belial maybe she was possessed? I suppose she could have just been a rotten child all along but that wasn't the impression I got from the way the others in Pompeii interacted with her. There standing out in the sunlight on a deck of a yatch was...(drum roll please)...Nigel Bennett! He was accussed of having raped a 18 year old girl, and taping himself doing it! ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 4 Dec 2007 12:00:35 -0500 From: Lisa McDavid <mclisa@m.......> Subject: Re: Kid Vamps... ><snip>if perhaps she truly was ill, possibly with something like >syphilis that can affect brain function? Actually syphilis was imported from the new world after European contact. This doesn't, of course, rule out other diseases or even brain injury. I had always thought Divia simply happened to be a sociopath. The reasons for that condition are not clearly understood. There may be a physical as well as a psychological component. Speaking of child vampires in the FK world, I always wanted to see more of Daniel. I just registered with a new dentist here in England; I e-mailed to check if they'd received my registration, and got a reply back from the principal dentist, all nice and official. .except for the last line, where he commented that as a "fan of 800-year-old vampires", and looking at my e-mail address, he wasn't sure if he should offer me an appointment. Hee! How cool is that?
