Well, we all know of at least one pilot movie he filmed in LA in the late
eighties, right? A little thing called "Nick Knight," affectionately known
as Rick Knight? ;-)

1) lot of echoes of Dark Knight here in the opening scenes. Guess they
wanted to re-introduce things to any new viewers. And as you watch,
the echoes keep going and going. LaCroix and Nick's conversation in a
factory. Schanke trying to get noticed for promotion. Nick hearing a
crime going on at a great distance.

2) any senior list members have insights as to why LaCroix was
"revived"? It simply makes pratical sense as it opened up storylines
to have him about in "modern times" to interact with Nick, but was there
any other reasons? Was this a planned development for season 2 from the
beginning of the series run?

3) the return of the moose jammies
    :-)

4) any senior list members have insights as to the captain swap? Was
Gary Farmer not interested doing another year or was there a decision to
change things to "shake it up a little".

5) Janette: "eventually we all must move on". Obviously a complete
coincidence, but a nice bit of foreshadowing for season three.

6) Grace and Natalie would be quite a double-team at a Red Cross
blood-drawing. Poor Jeff barely knew what hit him.

7) there's that warehouse again!!!

8) interesting that the IA officers are first shown wearing white trench
coats...and the first time Nick and LaCroix are together, they are both
wearing black trench coats

9) I've got to say that the impromptu cross Nick deflects LaCroix with
is not something I would do in a series today. It is just too easy a
weapon. According to this theory, you could drive a vampire off with
two crossed popsicle sticks.

I know it wasn't a planned development but I never heard any stories about why
they decided to revive LC. I suspect the popularity of the character and of
Nigel Bennett that developed as the first year went on had something to do with
 it.

It was definitely TPTB (or I guess kow we have to say "the powers that were"
who decided to change captains. I know it was not that Gary Farmer didn't want to
come back or wasn't available. Again, we don't know why. Personally I was
sorry to see him go. I liked both Cohen and Reese but personally I ever felt that
either quite fit the show as well as Stonetree.

We used to talk about how Toronto seemed to have only one warehouse and one
apartment building, at least to judge by FK's establishing shots. :)

Nigel had mentioned at a con before the season aired that this was coming up in
a script and he was going to try to talk them out of it. Obviously he
couldn't. Much discussion ensued about why a cross repelled FK vampires other
than Nick, who had definitely been a Christian in life. It was a this point,
since the discussion had to touch on religious matters, that the list first
showed its remarkable ability to discuss them without bursting into flames. We
had a few misunderstandings show up about religion, but no deliberate flames. I
think I was listowning at the time and I don't recall having to deal with anything
that was meant to be difficult. This was and is wonderful because as anyone who's
been on the net long knows, religion can be even more inflammatory than politics.

Not sure where I heard this -- on one of the interviews at
the end of the Season 2 DVDs or it may have been the
commentary that accompanies the episode on the DVD
-- anyway, LaCroix was apparently fairly popular, everyone
liked Bennett's work so mcuh that the powers-that-be
    decided to expand his role.

I don't think anything official was ever said, but
Farmer was apparently not all that happy with how
his role was developed. He's listed as either star
or co-star of the show, but he didn't seem to be treated
    that way.

> 7) there's that warehouse again!!!

Again, from the DVD commentary, the warehouse was
empty, available, and a great place for camera shots.

Well, you make do with what you have at hand.
Frankly, I'd have thought that Nick would have
been a leettle bit more surprise or upset finding
LaCroix was still very much alive.
