Hit the answer button and change what pops up in your Re: > line. Haven't got one, sorry to say, not in my reply mode. No answer button either in gmail...so I'm sorry that I'm unable to comply with these requests. Must I now become only a lurker or drop out now? I've now tried adding it to the address bar...we'll see if it works now or not. I really haven't any other option to do it any other way. I'm sorry that I'm offending, but it's my mail program. Apologies to whomever has been offended by this. I assure you I'm not doing it on purpose or attempting to be obnoxious. Really. Thanks to everyone who has tried to help me with this problem. It seems that it's insurmountable. Sorry about that. Ramona ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 10 Nov 2007 21:10:26 -0500 From: Wendy <w.rigney@v.......> Subject: Topic Changes and how to do it... Ramona, When you type up new message, i.e. Compose, you usually put a heading/subject, I'd assume? The topic line would be in the same place where you'd type that up. If you need further help, holler. As per McLisa's and Don's request, I am for the second time this week reminding Forkni-Lers of this rule: 2. Please don't quote more than four lines of a previous post in replying. If you have more than one point to answer, then you may quote the relevant four lines for that point also. Unlike changing the topic/subject line of posts, this is NOT a request, it is a rule and has been a rule for over 10 years as far as I can remember. I realize mistakes happen (goodness knows both McLisa and I have overquoted). However, this is becoming a regular thing. Believe me, you do not want me to turn Screed loose on y'all! (Or maybe you do...) Thank you ;-D --Libs ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 10 Nov 2007 20:39:29 -0600 From: Cousin Tok <tokaara@c.......> Subject: Changing subject lines in Gmail At 05:32 PM 11/10/2007, Ramona Jackson typed these words: >Haven't got one, sorry to say, not in my reply mode. I've done a little poking around in my own Gmail account, and here's what I've found. Assuming you're doing this through the Gmail website, when you reply to something, you click on the "Reply" link at the bottom of the message. In between the To: box and the box where you're typing your reply, there are several links to let you add recipients, attach files, etc. The one you want says "edit subject". Once you click that, you get a text box where you can change the subject line/topic/whatever you want to call it. It's a pity Gmail doesn't do that automatically, but I suppose that would make it too easy for us. If you're using POP3 access to download your Gmail to your own computer (as I do with mine), then it would depend on what email program you use. I noticed that Ramona is using gmail, as do I. when using the reply option, gmail does not show the topic line. You have to click on the link below the TO: line that says "edit subject" in order to change the topic or it will default to the message topic.
