My dad just passed away. He was in the hospital for a leg infection that should have been minor. He was supposed to be released yesterday, but there were delays in the tests. Early this morning, he fell, and they're not yet sure what happened, but he died. We think he slipped and landed wrong or something, but they won't know until after the autopsy. I want my daddy back. These fires look uncontrollable, with people speculating that the won't stop till they hit the ocean. Please, if I may suggest, keep a good thought, say a prayer, send energy, whatever you do, for the fires to be brought under control, and for the safety of civilians, firefighters and animals. SoCal list-members, are you okay? Sending thoughts of rain, Laurie of the Isles <Laudon1228@y.......> http://1-mad-squirrel.livejournal.com/ Thank you first responders!!!!! ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 23 Oct 2007 13:38:00 -0400 From: "Phillips, Tim" <Tim.Phillips@s.......> Subject: Episode Discussion: Fatal Mistake 1) is interesting that they chose to have Stonetree cry at the end of the opening act. They could have gone with the sterotypical Hollywood "scums gotta die" cop attitude. Instead, we get a very real human emotion for how the situation has resolved right from the get-go. It sets up the rest of the episode nicely where you see the regrets that Stonetree has and how they effect him. 2) anyone ever seen a TV show where Internal Affairs actually comprehends police work and isn't immediately adversarial?? 3) "Even Eternal Life is Too Short to wait for a table". Wouldn't LaCroix's skills be wonderful when waiting in the lines at the Department Of Motor Vehicles.... 4) "You Look Like Something from the back of the refrigerator." Natalie gets some of the best 1 liners. And I've always liked her and Grace dissecting a roasted chicken for dinner. 5) It is a little unrealistic that Alexandra waited what...200-300 years to avenge herself against Nick. That is one lady who holds a grudge long-term. It would have played better to me if she'd been younger. If she and Nick had meet more in the 1920s or 30s. That is long enough to make it clear she had trouble finding Nick...but doesn't make it quite so ludicrious. November 6th, 2007 is the discussion date. That is long enough to How about Serena (from "Baby, Baby")? That would have worked well, and the time frame was better as well. Not one. LOL! IA is the "evil" of police shows, I guess. And those in IA are either hardasses, dirty, or just incompetent. *G* 3) "Even Eternal Life is Too Short to wait for a table". Wouldn't LaCroix's skills be wonderful when waiting in the lines at the Department Of Motor Vehicles.... Oh, that *is* a good idea. He'd make the waiting more entertaining, at any rate! 4) "You Look Like Something from the back of the refrigerator." Natalie gets some of the best 1 liners. And I've always liked her and Grace dissecting a roasted chicken for dinner. One of my favorite scenes is with Natalie, Grace, and that chicken. Hee. And, you're right: Natalie does get some great one liners. Catherine's delivery is always spot on, too! Oh, and I do agree about Alexandra waiting so long to seek revenge. But, hey, gotta love those plot points. They make the TV world go 'round.
