Yes, the show is still airing but I'm smitten.

You must be 18 or older to join. I'm waiving spoiler space for this first week
ONLY, after that it'll be required for one week following the airing of new
episodes. Fan Fiction is fine though "announcement only" for anything too adult.

ABSOLUTELY NO FLAMES. If you don't like Moonlight, please don't join. I'm
making it for Forever Knight/Moonlight fans because I find it makes for a less
 troublesome list.

By the way, if anyone is interested in an FK/Stargate list (both shows),
please e-mail me off-list. If there's enough interest, I may set one up (of course
I'm a Rodney fan, who else?)

Just saw the new TV show Moonlight.
A vampire (private) detective solves crimes to redeem for his wicked past.
It was FK without the angst!
An no LaCroix <sob!> or Janette!
But the show has potential. Will have to see what future episodes are like.
Ron the Enforcer

I didn't think it is any more like FK than Angel is, although there's some
minor similarities. Vampire detective stories are actually rather common,
especially in novels (some of which pre-date FK).

However, I love it! Sadly, that doesn't bode well with my track record of
favorite new series not lasting... :-(

It's no FK, but it's cute in its own way. The reporter lady reminds me
of Tracy a bit, the way she's so overzealous about investigating and gets
herself into trouble that way. The ex-wife vampie has a death scene we know
won't be the end of her, like LC had. She doesn't seem as cool as LC,
though. . . like she's too emotional or something. . . Hopefully she'll
calm down a bit in later eps. The lead chara doesn't seem all that
Nick-like so far, but he hasn't had much chance to do the vampie-brooding
thing yet. *shrugs* Not sure yet what I think of the corporate vampie guy
or the one in the coroner's office. Not sure how well I like vampies being
able to go out in daylight, but maybe if they explain more of the ill
effects, I'll be okay with it. So far it seems like an okay show, though.
I'll probably watch it again.

I agree. I thought it was terrific. I look forward to watching it every week.

However, I love it!

I liked it a lot better than I thought I would. Actually the reviews in
Newsday said the second episode was far superior to the pilot. I am keeping an
open mind.

I liked it too. It has real possibilities. Since we
can't have FK back it's a pretty good start to having
new vampire material to watch.

I've always been wondering what exactly Nick does with the two policemen in the
tunnels. We see him vamped out and crouched over one of them. Did he kill them
 or just knock them out?

This episode is the first I ever saw of FK back in 1994 and it got me
instantly hooked. It set on so many wonderful things in my life that it will always
hold a special value to me.

Same here. I'm willing to give it a try. New vamp is definitely a
cutie but not nearly as angsty as our beloved Nick. I don't like the
yuppie corporate vamp. Doesn't have nearly as much intrigue about him
as LaCroix and aside from a bit of wrist biting, he could be your
regular garden variety LA sleazebag. My main concern is keeping up a
level of interest in a modern retelling. Since none of the vamps is
very old, and let's face it, a 50-year old vampire is a mere toddler
compared to the FK universe, we'll have to see how much depth they can
give it, even with historical flashbacks of only the 20th century.

Also thought some of the special effects were a bit cheesy as well.
Hopefully CBS will put a little more money into the subsequent eps.
However, as pilot episodes go, it wasn't that bad.

I couldn't stand it. I thought the acting was hokey and the lead had no
 charisma. Sorry, not for me.

I didn't like him either. And did anyone else see the contradiction
in having a thrall to feed of openly (or were all of his cronies at
the place also vamps? probably, I guess) and being concerned about
secrecy?

Yes, same thought here. I didn't find it that bad but it never caught
me like FK did. I'll watch but I doubt it can create the same 'magic'
even if the looks are sleek.
But one never knows...

I think the lead actor has a nice voice, though. Not as nice as
Lacroix in full nightcrawler mode, but still ;-)
