Would other things be different? Shifts in emphasis? Between
the original _Nick Knight_ and our "Dark Knight," Jack became
Natalie, of course. Could other such shifts be imagined to align the
story with today's typical show structures?

In today's FK Jack probably would not have changed into Natalie... but he
would
still be Nick's "sort of" love interest! It seems like shows have to have
more than
one "hook" to make it. In the above scenario FK would be set in San
Francisco
instead of Toronto.

I'm not so sure they'd move it to San Francisco. Toronto has a huge (and fun!)
artsie/gay "scene." I have local friends (here in the US) who are jealous I've
been to Toronto. Even with the hook of Natalie being a male, it could stay in
Toronto although I think the setting as to where in Toronto might be different.

They could even have Nick sort of torn between Schanke and Natalie (if
Natalie remained Natalie), perhaps with the added touch of LaCroix and/or Janette

Unless it was sighted in Florida, it wasn't Nick's Caddy. That resides
with one of our listmembers, who bought it from Brock Joliffe, the
special effects/props guy on FK. HE bought it after the show ended.

Nancy Kaminski
who got to see the Caddy at LCA 3? 4? in Toronto

Yes a lot of the props have been sold.

When I went up to Toronto last year to purchase the
Hero" car, Brock, the Special Effects Creator told me there was four cars.
2- 1962 and 2-1961.

One 61 was used in the studio shots. That's the scenes where you see Nick,
Nat and Schanke in the car and the back window of the car is cloudy.

Then there was the stunt car. This was a 62 that was used in the fast
pull-ups and seed shots in the show. Then there was a 62 that was used for
the wreck shots. This car Brock still has on his effects lot.

Then last but certainly not least is the "Hero Car". This is the 61 Caddy
that you see Nick driving nice and gentle. Scenes like Vachon and Tracy in
the car in outside shots.

I'll make the offer again to anyone visiting the Disney World area in the
future. If you'd like to see the car, just get in touch with me before you
leave. At least three weeks. I've been in the process of getting the car
back into good working order. Re-connecting the parts that the production
company disconnected for the show. She goes to the 'doctor' Monday for her
air conditioning. So the car may not be available.

By the way, I name all my classic cars and our Caddy's name is Nicky. Guess
why?????
Also I'd like to mention, I have the car registered with the same plate/tag
number she had in the show. So if you see 35H MV6 riding around in Central
Florida........it is THE CADYY.

Ye gods....my family just this past weekend decided to get together during
the Christmas break, when my work isn't too busy and my sister's classes are
between semesters. And guess where we've decided to get together? I'm
flying into Orlando Dec 21 and out Dec 29....any chance we could see dear
old 35H MV6? My mom and sister used to watch the show too, so I'm sure
they'll get a kick out of it, although not as much of a kick as I will!

Hello,
This is a reminder that episode 1966 is the next up for
discussion.
The date is September 25, 2007.
	Have a nice weekend.

I'd like to think that there would be more of a story-arc.
A greater willingness to let the characters evolve and change
and less of a "neck-of-the-week-never-to-be-seen-again" effect.

The goofy-looking flying effect aside, I've never had an issue
with the relatively minimal special effects that FK used.

If someone was to reimagine the show there are a few "twists"
that could be done in terms of the characters that could be quite
interest.
Cast a strong older woman in LaCroix's role and a pretty-body
model type (obviously, one who can also act better than a fence-post) as
Jean-Pierre (Janette's role). I thought the male forensics specialist
from the original Rick Springfield movie was an interesting character.
You could recast that role with a man and adopt the "Tracy-model" by
having Nick's partner be female.

These are relatively small details, however, compared to having
good writing for the actors to work from.
BattleStar Galactica's writing has been fantastic. They've also
a good cast...but the fact that Starbuck and Boomer are now female isn't
really relevent except where that "permits" the story to go in a
specific direction (IE, Apollo's tryst with Starbuck). Compare that to
the dreck known as Flash Gorden...which is so bad in terms of clunky
writing it defies description.

Personally, I don't find much "wrong" with Forever Knight. It
looks a little dated in its writing style and manner, but that is true
of most older TV shows. The medium has changed and advanced. Along
with the raft of reality-TV garbage that is out there, there have been
some excellent advances in really making television shows into
"min-movies" with serious attention paid to story and overall quality.
