Since Moonlight is just showing in publicity trials and Blood Ties has shown all but the last 9 eps in the US and is starting the week of Aug. 20 in Canada. Most people have minds like concrete: mixed up or permanently set. It is. Maybe someone is thinking of Lifetime's "Blood Ties" or something? Is this one of those shows where they produced it and then sold it to multiple markets, with the overseas markets getting it first? That is a problem with Men in Trees right now and was a problem years back with Due South (US got 22 episodes over one season, Canada got 26 episodes but spread over two). How did that work with FK? The German market got the racier cuts of season one but did they get the episodes earlier or later than the US and Canada? I came into the FK universe right before season 2. Nigel B made an appearance at Mad Media Con here in Madison and my friends made me watch their horrible grainy VHS tapes of season one so I would know who he was. Oh, and for those of you who saw Nigel speak at Toronto Trek many years ago, that Mad Media Con was the convention where he auctioned off a kiss and it was won by a guy. The look on his face was priceless! It made enough of an impression on him that he mentioned it at Toronto Trek 2 or 3 years after it happened. Except for teeny-tiny additions to a handful of scenes (someone mentioned it earlier, it's mostly just that the camera stays longer on someone) which you would hardly notice, the German version IS the Canadian version. No nudity, no additional material. If anyone comes to Germany once, they're heartily invited to watch the German version with me ;-) I believe it has to do with commercials because there were (still are) a lot fewer commercial breaks in TV shows here (once every 20 to 30 Minutes but then for a longer break). FK was first shown here in 1994. It was originally shown on a local Munich station (Telemünchen) then moved to a private but national station. Season three was only shown on PayTV. Gracious! If I remember correctly, there was some confusion and upset at the time that CD came out -- it was someone's friend's boyfriend who burned it finally, not directly a listmember; this was back when most of us lacked access to burners -- and some people who had asked to have their stories *omitted* instead saw them *included.* From that CD, you would naturally post only stories by authors for whom you have permissions? I'm thinking only that the Web is so very much more searchable now than it was ten years ago, and it could hurt someone if her boss or kids googled her and found FK erotica. (It's a problem I've experienced personally, with regular fanfic, which is why I try to get my old stuff down from the archives, and no longer use my last name.)
