Who are the "most people" here? If they live *outside* Toronto, they probably say that they're "flying to Toronto". At most, they'll say "Toronto International Airport". It is, after all, the main airport for the city. Most people who live *in* Toronto, just call it "the airport". What else? I know there's another airport down on the Island, but its very small. As a result, the big one out in Malton is the one that gets referred to simply as "the airport". The other gets called "the island airport" or "the airport on Toronto Island". Just to muddle you up completely, there are still a few older people (like me) who--when they want to be a bit formal about the name--refer to the big airport as "Malton Airport". That was its old name before it got renamed after the former prime minister, Lester B. Pearson. As is true in most big cities, the airport isn't in the city proper but outside in a nearby township--specifically, in Malton. I've heard it referred to as "Pearson International Airport" on the news; but I don't think I've ever heard anyone call it that in real life. I have to agree with Greer on this one. Most people of an area refer to the airport as "the airport". In my area (Northern NJ) we have to differentiate... there are 3 major airports - Newark, JFK, and LaGuardia. So if you just say "the airport" the other person will automatically ask "Which one?" She said she was going to archive them there. I still have them on foreverknight.org http://www.foreverknight.org/ladylacroix I didn't know the site was down until Mel told me. I had moved the site and had forgotten to change the DNS info at the registrar. That link has been working for a couple months now, but didn't say anything as Mel was going to put them up on her site. Until they get there, as I said the link above now is working again. It is generally referred to as "Peason" or simply "the airport" for people in T.O. Do most people call the airport "Pearson," or "Toronto Pearson," or something else? The official website (http://www.gtaa.com/en/home/) seems to use "Toronto Pearson," but that may be an affectation I have friends in Toronto and on the rare occasion that they talk about the airport they refer to it only as Pearson. When I was last in TO, which was in 1999 the rental car agency I used referred to it as Pearson and included the Terminal number. (Pearson 1). I would imagine that for people who live in Toronto the "Toronto" part of "Toronto Pearson" would be assumed. It has been ages since I watched Black Budda but doesn't the pilot on the plane talk to the tower before it blows up? I would use whatever terminology they use in the episode as the show cannon for your fic. Not just seeing her smile, but actually hearing the sound of her laughter? It struck me today that I don't have a good mental soundtrack of such key FK sounds as each character's laughter. I know the voices, of course -- to the point I could peg GWD uncredited in the _Nancy Drew_ movie on the strength of two lines, one off-screen -- but laughs, sobs, gasps and screams are eluding me. If someone were to set up a sound archive for FK, which scenes would best provide those elements? And what other routine sounds would be key -- the caddy, Nick's elevator, Nick's refrigerator door, the morgue scale, what else? Just a train of thought . . . Amy R., Knightie akr@l....... Well, Nick says in Black Buddha "we are almost at *the airport*, not we're almost at Pearson. Toronto Island airport is mentioned in the ep where the Texas Axe murderer is supposed to be extradited to the US (ep name slips my mind at the moment), and Cohen explicitly calls it the Island airport. Also she kind of did a little squeak in 'Dead Issue'--the one with the Fiores and Illse--when she told Nick that she almost forgot about his "veggie drink". As far as routine sounds I think the sounds of the precinct are also pretty important and maybe the sound of the cable cars that cross in front of the 96th Precinct. Did they actually make sounds on screen? Also perhaps the sound of Nick's answering machine and various messges and the sound of the shutters being lowered or raised. It was a project I had offered to do to go along with my series I created, I was busy writing my books, so when I took a break from that, I began this project, I have one chapter done and the other started. Him meaning Mr. Wyn Davies, no, but I do stay in touch with Sony Pictures and keep them informed of what projects I start using the show with no problem on their side. And I think the comment was meant a bit in joke, since you are attempting to write a biography not an autobiography unless of course you're doing it from Nick's point of view. Mr. Wyn Davies has his story already written, but he still has many years to live still. I'm use to the side jokes, they no longer offend me, no offense taken. Cheryl / fknight420@c.......
