I've been having a kinda crummy time lately and I need something to make me
laugh. Can anyone recommend their favorite silly or feel-good stories for me?

I've never managed to get through Sue O'Reilly's "Child's Play" without
laughing.

I love Nancy Kaminski's story Clocknapped (the main title is Lure of the
Alternithera (sp??), an X-files crossover, it's got this wonderful line
about Nick's innocent expression, the same one he uses to get out of trouble
when he's found holding an innocent young girl with bite marks on her neck
(and that is probably a horrible misquote!)

Subject: Synthetic blood!

Researchers at the University of Sheffield in England are ready to try
their newly developed "plastic blood" in humans. (Funded perhaps by the
Brabant Foundation?) they have developed the synthetic blood for
"obvious use in the battlefield", but we all know what THE most obvious
use would be...a certain guilt-ridden blond vampire!
Here's a link to the story:
http://technology.guardian.co.uk/weekly/story/0,,2075544,00.html
While the correct haemoglobin-like molecules might be present, the
emotions and memories that Nick describes (in Francesca) as being
contained in blood would not, so I suppose it would not be completely
the same as human blood. But surely better than cow!

Pending the time of day, hot tea in the morning or a wine cooler later, I
call my best and she lends me her shoulder to lean on and comforts me, then
makes me laugh, she tells me a story of something dumb her husband did. My
shoulder is here to lean on and I'm a great listener.
