OK, I'm going to be making a handful of posts, because there's been too much
good stuff said and I want to make sure I get it all.
  1) I think my favorite part is Schanke's story about tattooing 'Ringi
Forover' on a classmate's knee... now, whenever I find myself misspelling
something that should be easy, I end up muttering 'Martha Brecker, oh, Martha
Brecker' ala Schanke <G>.

  2) I get the feeling the idea of being a vampire was about half-explained,
altho Nick being soused can't have helped, either. To be honest, it's kinda
nice to see the GUY be the one to wake up with his life perminently changed
for once <eg>.

  3) Makes me laugh every time.

  5) I think that by this time, Nat KNOWS Nick's weakness for beautiful women,
and Ann is pretty hot. Maybe she's afraid he'll get too caught up in his act,
but even if not, I think there's some severe jealousy there. Even if she knows
exactly what he's doing and why, the fact that Ann is going to jail doesn't
negate the fact that Nick is willing to kiss *her*!

I've always figured he gave him the rundown in the car on the way over. It's
not like it would take a lot of rehersal.

Perhaps a combination of the two. Nick has told her
how alluring and seductive Janette was (we believe)
and perhaps she sees Ann as an echo of that? Natalie
has always felt out of the same league as Janette
(frumpy, boring), and Ann is all the things that
Janette is and she is *not*, including being a
murderer.

<G> That's what makes this one of my favorite eps, the player getting played.
I think there was a (very) brief moment Nick might have let his instincts
overwhelm him, he's obviously enjoying kissing Ann there in her appartment.
But any advantage she might have gained over him went right out the window when
she told him she wanted him to steal something for her-- you can see the "WT**?"
look on his face. She was using her normal 'seduce and corrupt' start, and had
no way of knowing who she was talking to.
But I also think there's a fair amount of regret in Nick over the whole
thing... he sees a lot of his past self in Ann, it can't be easy for him to
condemn her for things he's done.

My overall impression, throughout "Dance by the Light of the Moon", is that
Ann
is completely out of her league. Compared to Nick, who has been doing this kind
of thing for centuries, she is a total amateur, and he plays her with complete
skill from the very beginning.

I still have the design for business cards that list
out all the lists/joining/fkfic links. I'm happy to
order more or else give forward the design to anyone
that is interested at Vistaprint.

I wish someone could have explained to them that the same people loved both
shows, and they could have put them airing consecutively and created a
must-see evening! Heck, if both shows were on the same network, maybe they
could have realized how many freaking *crossovers* people were writing
between the two shows, and coordinated something akin to the
Homicide/Law&Order crossovers!

As for the timeline of Forever Knight's many incarnations...the first season
started in 1992 on CBS, on their "CrimeTime After PrimeTime" block of shows
which came on after the evening news. It was one of five or six shows,
including Silk Stalkings and Dark Justice. When CBS signed the deal for
David Letterman to take over that time slot in late 1993, there was no room
for the CrimeTime shows anymore, but they still needed to fill the timeslot
until Letterman arrived, so they ended up continuing to show the same reruns
instead of making a new season; thus the first season of Forever Knight
aired for about a season and a half worth of time.

USA Network had been re-airing Silk Stalkings, at the time an almost
unheard-of practice, so they took that show over completely. They struck a
similarly unusual deal with Forever Knight, airing the episodes both on USA
and in syndication, for the second season. Now, I'm not 100% sure about
when the show went to the Sci-Fi Channel, and whether it overlapped with USA
or syndication or both, but I distinctly remember it airing there too, and
since USA owned the Sci-Fi Channel just knowing that USA called the shots
doesn't tell me where it was airing when. I do know that season 2 aired in
the 94-95 season, and season 3 in the 95-96 season. Guess I'll have to
check my third season tapes to see whose commercials are on them. ;-) But I
do remember the third season's big budget cut and their going for a "younger
audience" with more T&A.

Yes, I'm an old fogey here. I even taped the original pilot when it first
aired in 1989. For those of you who haven't seen it, it was set in L.A. and
starred Rick Springfield. There were no flashbacks (unless you count Rick's
video for "Don't Walk Away") and Natalie was a guy.

I love the idea of business cards! I still have some of the cards the fans
of "The Invisible Man" produced to distribute at conventions. They have
glossy photos of cast members on the front, with an appropriate quote from
the show, and have contact information on the back. The pictures catch
peoples' eyes and the quotes make them smile. Whenever I left them out at a
con, I'd come back to find most of them gone. And of course, cards are much
cheaper to produce than full-size flyers!

Nancy Leibovitz still has some Forever Knight buttons in her catalog, too.

"Nick Knight -- taking a bit out of crime -- forever!"
"I worked late on my birthday, and no one brought *me* a cute vampire!"
"There's the good, the bad, the really bad...and then there's LaCroix"

I've worn my T-shirt for The Raven to some sci-fi cons and Mensa Gatherings,
and it almost always gets recognized at least a couple times. It's got the
original logo for the club, and reads, "A unique knightclub featuring an
extensive wine cellar."

Subject: FK Moment on Blood Ties

I had missed hearing about Blood Ties until I came to catch up on this list,
but luckily my cable system's On Demand had all the episodes for free, so
I'm caught up now. I love these books!

In the third episode, when Henry is getting ready to pass out for the day,
he uses a remote control to lower the window shades. My first thought was
that he'd bought/inherited Nick's loft. My second was to wonder if it was
an intentional nod to the previous vampire resident of Toronto.

I think the coronor on this show must know Natalie. She seems awfully ready
to accept weird stuff. Maybe she was in the same class at medical school,
along with Anne Lindsey and Dana Scully! ;-)

Am I the only one to start getting fanfic ideas for what sort of "sheer

I don't know that one. All I know is, I think half the songs on
Queensryche's "Rage For Order" are secretly Forever Knight songs.

"London" is a flashback to early WWII
"The Whisper" is LaCroix and Nick
"I Dream In Infrared" is a dark take on Nick and Natalie
"The Killing Words" is Janette to Nick

The rest of the unofficial FK soundtrack would have to include Concrete
Blonde's "The Beast" and Spectre General's "Hunger", both for LaCroix of
course!
