If nothing else, think of all the crossover fanfic possibilities. Maybe
FKFic-l will have a renaisance. That'd be nice. :-)

HMM, you would think that CBS would recognize their own show. I wonder if
someone like Parriot could complain.
(de-lurking for a bit...)

The only way Mr. Parriott could complain about both shows is if they
deliberately plagiarized FK in some way, which could be proven.
All we have is a plot synopsis for both shows, so it would be difficult to
tell whether Mr. Parriott would have a legitimate cause for complaint.

Time wll tell at this point, and a lot can happen between the initial pilot
of a TV show, and the actual series. Besides, just because CBS picked up
Twilight and Babylon Fields doesn't always guarantee that the shows will make
it to
air. Knowing how CBS tends to abruptly cancel dramas when the ratings don't
take off quickly after the first three episodes... we'll just have to wait and
see.

It's interesting to note that Ger has such a jocular
personality and pulls off comedy so well given that in
FK he has such a dark, broody character. I think it
goes to prove (as if we needed any proof ;) his
versatility.

"I was not complaining yet. I will certainly give it a chance. I have no idea
on casting. I was just wondering how similar a show can be before it becomes
copyright infringement. More as a point of interest than complaint."

I think that they have to be really, really similar in order for copyright
infringement
to be an issue. For example Nanny 911 and Super Nanny, Wife Swap and
Trading Spouses.
These shows are nearly identical and are airing in the same season but on
different networks
and yet as far as I know nobody is suing anybody else.

With this new show unless the main character is Nick Morning with a business
partner named
Dan Schanke and an old mentor named LaPerrier and is set in Seattle (CN
Tower = Space Needle)
I don't think there will be an issue with it. Personally I am looking
forward to getting an almost
FK fix. And I am sure that Mr Parriott probably lost a little real estate
with the TV industry when
he petulantly "killed" most of the FK character when the show was canceled
by USA.

And that is when *I* would have to complain, then there is the possibly I would
raise all kinds of loud noises if the female mortal love is Natalia Lambert!
But personally, I wouldn't mind giving this new show a spin. Who knows, I might
actually like it. Granted it isn't FK, as nothing can replace it but I do have
a soft spot for any vampires trying to survive in the world especially ones
that have to struggle with their inner emotions. (I would like to think FK for
that!)

One of my favorite things about FK is how we all love it for so
many different reasons, and in so many different ways. Some of us
love vampires, and some of us love historical fiction, police
mysteries, metaphysical metaphors, the cast and crew ... such a rich
menu, such wonderful combinations! :-)

I'm looking forward to reviewing a few episodes of this new series.
While it will never be FK. If the series survives we may be able to
use it as leverage to get the SciFi Channel to bring back FK.

Not to mention we need a few goot vampire stories back on TV.
