Honestly, although I'm disappointed, I'm somehow not surprised. It seems as if the FK fandom, as far as fanfic goes, is waning. I know there are lots of people still on the list, but few have the time and/or motivation to write. My whole world has become my job and my husband's illness, so this includes me (I'm sad to say). Needless to say, I will no longer be hosting the Yuletide Awards. Hope you all had a terrific Christmas. God bless. KC Smith tigrlady2u@j....... Nick/Natpacker with dark tendencies. God bless. Thanks for all the work you've done over the years on this. I did want to let everyone know that Yuletide Treasure at http://www.yuletidetreasure.org the Rare Fandoms Secret Santa Exchange, produced a LOVELY Natalie story set about 10 years after LK. Very believable, sad but not tragic, nicely done extrapolation on character development. Definitely worth a read: Afterimage: http://yuletidetreasure.org/archive/22/afterimage.html Enjoy, Amy ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 29 Dec 2006 17:36:00 +0000 From: Amy Hull <amilynh@c.......> Subject: Re: Another Yuletide--FK and S&L stories I wrote: > I did want to let everyone know that Yuletide Treasure at > http://www.yuletidetreasure.org the Rare Fandoms Secret Santa Exchange, Someone asked me privately what this was, so I thought I'd clarify here for everyone. "While We Tell of Yuletide Treasure" is not a strictly FK thing (and, in fact, the archive has only two FK stories). It was conceived in 2003 and was based on the idea of a Secret Santa Story Gift Exchange like was done in PopSlash's "Don We Now Our Gay Apparel" at http://www.juppy.org/santa/ but was geared to fandoms that receive less fanfic traffic--a place for fen to ask for a story from "that show that no one else probably remembers." (Originally it was "rare pairings" even in well-written-for fandoms but that was only the first year.) Since FK fandom is not producing large amounts of fic anymore, it re-qualified to be part of Yuletide Treasure this year, along with Narnia, Remington Steele, Hunt for Red October, Early Edition, and, literally, 500 other sources (some literary, some historical, some print, some TV, some film, etc.). There are also two FANTASTIC stories for Catherine Disher's short-run series "Snakes and Ladders": http://yuletidetreasure.org/archive/29/causeand.html http://yuletidetreasure.org/archive/17/allthe.html Even if you've only seen one episode, they're worth reading. I hope anyone so predisposed has fun going through the archive and reading the thousands of fantastic stories (there were 1,052 stories this year alone) for sources you may have encountered and loved years ago or recently. If you read, do please leave feedback--especially for the less-read FK and Snakes and Ladders stuff! Enjoy!
