The idea of vampire fingerprints and DNA left on file was what inspired the one foray into fanfic that I got around to finishing and posting. http://homepages.ihug.co.nz/~sharkyl/not%20before%20time.html DNA and fingerprint records have a certain rate of 'acceptable error' so two or more unrelated people can be identified from a single sample. When governments collect millions of these records, e.g. under the pretext of anti-terrorism legislation, who knows what problems this could throw up in the future. Hood You may have heard on the news about three men missing on Mt. Hood. One of the men, Kelly James, did call his mother, LouAnn Cameron, but the call was cut off. I know LouAnn fairly well. Imagine my horror upon hearing her name on the national news connected with something this potentially ... bad. She's a strong woman, but must be in total despair. Please keep all three men and their friends and family in your prayers and thoughts. --Libs ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 12 Dec 2006 02:45:25 -0500 From: Deborah Hymon <debh@e.......> Subject: QUESTION?--Cannon vs. Fan Fiction Tonight I was watching old re-runs of the X-Files, the episode where Scully meets a girl who inspires people to harm themselves, Episode, Bunghoney. Mulder was throwing pencils in the ceiling because he was bored. Scully walked in and the pencils started to fall from the ceiling. This episode was co-written by Stephen King with Chris Carter. I had a flash-back of Forever Knight with Nick doing something similar, throwing pencils or pens in the ceiling? Was this in an episode, if so which one or was it a fan fiction, and who was the author and what title? Thanks for any info to solve this Forever Knight mystery! ANyhoo.... I don't think that kind of scene was ever in an FK episode. But I also sometimes get confused with canon and fic. Some of the fic out there is so well written, I could swear it was in a show. :-) -Amanda "This dark gift brings enlightened sight, as if the sun's bright rays illuminate sweet mortal forms to take my breath away." http://www.darksideoftheglass.com http://lestat.darksideoftheglass.com ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 12 Dec 2006 10:03:56 -0500 From: Lisa McDavid <mclisa@m.......> Subject: Re: QUESTION?--Cannon vs. Fan Fiction >I had a flash-back of Forever Knight with Nick doing something similar, >throwing pencils or pens in the ceiling? Was this in an episode, if so which > one or was it a fan fiction, and who was the author and what title? There were several of the Canadian filler scenes first season where Nick was lying around the loft, playing chess with himself, drinking, generally being bored. At least two of the scenes are of him lying on his back tossing tarot cards in the air--and you can see Ger surreptitiously check for where the camera is and begin flinging the cards closer and closer to the camera. He almost hits it a few times, too! So the throwing things at the ceiling is canon rather than merely fanon, and since the behavior is established, I'd think that it would be an easy hit to put it into stories.
