I saw two copies of the 3rd season DVD tonight in Best Buy for $43.00. I was glad to see them on the shelf. It never occured to me that there would be cat fights on the list instead of at the show. <shaking head> A couple of points, now that Don, ably assisted by Libby, has stepped in. 1. The rule against discussing vampires except in relation to FK vampires is one of the oldest. It goes back to the days when Jayekitty had recently started forkni-l. People complained to her offlist that they only wanted FK posts and that the general vampire posts were cluttering their mailboxes. There's at least one general vampire list, vampyres@t........ If you're interested, write me offlist and I'll dig up subscription instructions. 2. The noflames rule means just that. We make allowances for posters who have temporarily lost their tempers, but if the flame is bad hot enough, or the repeated, we do nopost. The nopost can be permanent, although I only remember a few times when that became necessary. Forkni-l is IMHO a family [insert relationship image of your choice if you disagree, please]. That means we try to be forbearing with each other. Just be glad LaCroix isn't running the list -- I have the feeling he didn't tolerate rows between Nick and Janette. McLisa, not red eyed and very grateful things have calmed down. mclisa@m....... ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 30 Oct 2006 09:27:06 -0500 From: Lyn Palmer <wizkid2u@b.......> Subject: PRAYER: update on Cassie, posted Friday <<My stepdad had rushed my mother to the hospital earlier this afternoon, and I just received word about fifteen minutes ago that she is listed in critical condition. >> I just received a note from Cassie: "Mom's is now in ICU and a respiratory risk. Nurse has told me that they had done a preliminary blood culture, and there is something growing in her blood but they do not know what it is yet. They will also have three TB blood cultures done on her just to be sure that the skin test for TB is accurate. They also had to place her in restraints as she kept wanting to pulling everything out, last night they had to sedate her to keep her calm. Yesterday she was still pretty much out of it, and only opened her eyes when my granddaddy told her that he was there. Before I left her in the afternoon, I think she was trying to talk to me but with the respirator they had in her impaired her ability to talk. (Or maybe she was trying to snore, I couldn't tell.) She is still critical, but she is stable." --------------------------------------------- Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind. -- Dr. Seuss <http://wizkid2u.home.comcast.net> ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 30 Oct 2006 07:00:52 -0800 From: Laurie of the Isles <laudon1228@y.......> Subject: Near Death I'm a bit out of step with most of the list. I haven't been watching the first season episodes that the scheduled discussions cover, and I don't have the third season dvds yet. I'm just now watching the second season DVDs. I watched a couple of episodes over the weekend. I was really hit by what a really good episode "Near Death" is. From the very beginning, when they're at the crime scene, with Nick and Nat talking in the foreground, and Schanke in the background talking to a rather ragged looking witness. Schanke joins them, and Nick or Nat (can't remember) asks "Did you get anything from him?" and Schanke without missing a beat, shudders and says "I hope not.". I really got a chuckle out of that. Gotta love Schanke. The whole episode was just so well written and executed. LaCroix/Guide in Nick's near death experience, I'd forgotten how good Nigel is there, how very different from LaCroix. (And how good he looked in that desert head wrap thingie, though I recall he said he roasted in it). It was neat also to see Amanda Tapping in a pre-Sam Carter scientist roll. I guess she just has that science geek vibe. *g* And OMG Nick's nightie! * wibbles * Feeling the FK love, Laurie of the Isles <laudon1228@y.......> ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 30 Oct 2006 10:22:42 -0500 From: Cheryl <fknight420@c.......> Subject: Re: PRAYER: update on Cassie, posted Friday Send my love, prayers and thoughts to her and her family.
