Mine is sad and funny at the same time. Two weeks ago today, I had to take my rat-loving (ie: hunting) mostly fox terrier, Gilbert, to the vet to be put to sleep. I didn't really make the final decision to do so until I got home from work. The vet's office was closing quickly so I had to change out of work clothing to "old" clothing quickly and didn't really pay attention to the t-shirt I'd yanked out of a drawer. On the drive, I tried to focus on all the fun and funny times Gilbert and I had shared. What immediately popped into mind was the time he caught a HUGE rat and sat by the fence which runs along a busy sidewalk. I heard someone scream like I've never heard scream before followed by, "EEEEOOOOWWWW! That dog has a rat!" Gilbert absolutely refused to drop that dead rat. Even for a biscuit or hot dog! I wonder if Screed ever did that at the Raven (when LaCroix wasn't there). ROTFL! Anyway, as I was remembering that, I looked down to see I was wearing a "Ratpacker" t-shirt a fan made for me years ago! What a fitting tribute to Gilbert and FK moment!!! <wRPg> Oh, yes, I did laugh! --Libs Lisa Stevens <lstevens39@e.......> wrote: I was just curious has anyone had a recent FK moment ? ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 25 Sep 2006 17:51:24 -0700 From: Cassie <writinggirl01@y.......> Subject: Re: What Is Your Most Recent FK Moment ? <Raises hand and vigorously waves it> Me, me, ooh, me! That combined with the occasional truck and trailer with the name of Knight Transportation, gives me the giggles every time I think about it. Subject: Re: LCA Report??? Hi Gang, I, like so many others, are waiting on any report as to the happenings at LCA this year. How did it go? Did they raise their usual mega bucks? Please someone take a few minutes and let us know how it went. Thanks for your time and attending such a great event. Next year, I'll be going. KnightWitch ;-]= CaddyWhacker, first and foremost. AND NOW I CAN PROVE IT!!!!!!!! ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 26 Sep 2006 04:15:09 -0400 From: Julia Kocich <jkocich@g.......> Subject: Initial LCA Report Here's a composite redacted post from Julia Kocich and Nancy Kaminski, List Cobra and List Garter Snake, respectively, that was posted to the UF list. LCA 9 was a smaller event than in past years: there were about 40 attendees, and many of the scheduled guests didn't make it. But it was very very nice to see the usual suspects and watch the LCA virgins figure out how it all works. It was surprising how so few people managed to bid so much for objects of no intrinsic value. As was frequently said, "it's for the children," and people responded in an amazingly generous fashion. Natsuko was there on Saturday, and told us stories. She and Ger share a storage locker in LA. His side is very neat. Hers is less so. She'll be playing Imelda Marcos in LA in .. er .. January, maybe? And she's the head of the voice/diction program for acting students at USC. Natsuko also stated that she's "one of the two women in the world who are not subject to Ger's charms". She didn't tell us who that other woman is, though. Doug MacRae was there on Saturday, with his lovely wife and their "baby," a 2-year-old Bernese mountain dog named Toblerone. He hopes to become a member of the (wait for it) Toronto Police Department this fall. He's had a job offer from another police force, but hopes to be a TO cop. He expects to have his shield in December. He'll make a great cop, I think, and you can bet that his squadroom will be graced with caricatures of fellow officers and really neat announcements for the summer picnic or Christmas party. Toblerone the dog is very talented. Doug has trained her to be very obedient, and she also does tricks, including falling over dead when he points a finger at her and says "bang!" She also made a $300 bid on an article by barking once at just the right moment. Doug hastily retracted the bid, although he did say that she would pay in kibble if she won the item. Barclay Hope was there on Saturday, as well. He's working, but not enough, so he's trying to find another way to support his family. Many guests told us that TV and film work in TO has declined since the period in the 1990s when a combination of exchange rate and government incentives brought a lot of work up there. (Shoot, it's gotten to the point that TO now gets to play itself, as in the movie "Sentinel" -- I think that's the title?) Barkley and his wife Lindsay (one of the Nikita Torture Twins) live in Vancouver with their 3 kids. He told us that there just isn't that much work for guys in his age category (what, mid-40s? Pathetic!). Emmy-Award-winning director Jon Cassar wasn't there, nor was Nigel, who's in a play in Halifax. We did have Brendan Long and Val Long, brother and mother to Kathryn Long, present. Brendan looks uncannily like Kathryn, and has long brown hair. He was helping with the auction. He also auctioned off the stake that killed Divia ("This is the stake that killed my sister!") plus a photo of Jon Cassar directing Kathryn at the crucial moment. It was very strange to see a photo of Mr. All-In-Black wearing jeans and a plaid shirt and a rather scruffy looking beard and mullet. Ah, the Nineties! Kathryn is still in Vancouver, teaching dance, and considering getting back into acting. I suspect the small size and lack of big-ticket items made it much harder on Jayne and Renata and their crew, but the weekend was like an extended family reunion, instead of a fans-adulating-the-actors con. Other members of the LCA family who showed up were Brock Joliffe, Props/SFX for FK and Nikita, and Nick Gray, director and producer of FK. Nick has lost much of his vision, and is quite thin, but is still as cheerful and forceful a personality as ever. He made quite a few jokes about the absurdity of a blind man auctioning off stuff he couldn't see to an audience whose bids were also invisible to him. The BBC Welsh guy was new, and acerbic, and funny. This is a very humorous man named David who is Catherine Gray's new fiance. Catherine, no relation to Nick, was also a member of the FK crew. David is a musician who worked in the BBC music division before coming to Canada. He not only bought quite a bit of stuff, he pitched in and auctioned off items quite successfully. On Sunday, Carlo and "Chloe" and the Secret Service guy from 24 were there. I asked Chloe about the much-blogged-about kiss from Russ Limbaugh. Her reply was, "He's very good at getting publicity for himself" and that she was expecting a peck on the cheek, not a kiss on the lips. That's Carlo Rota of Nikita and 24, Mary Lynn Rajskub (Chloe), and Glenn Morshower (Aaron PIerce). Mary Lynn is a tiny, tiny person, and after some initial hesitation got the hang of this auctioning thing and threw herself into it. Glenn, who until now was the image of the proper Secret Service agent in my mind, turns out to be a guy who says outrageous things and who shows quite a scary talent for shaking his booty. Mary Lynn and Carlo did a dramatic reading from one of the 24 scripts that kicked the price up nicely. Carlo does a great Jack Bauer. Heck, Carlo also can sell anything to anyone. By sheer dint of personality and charm he managed to get the price of a random selection of Nikita director's cut tapes into the $800 range. Instead of the Coke can challenge, there was a plastic bedpan which was the Smut Bucket: every time someone had a lewd thought, they were supposed to put money into said bucket. Most of the guests signed it, and it was the last item auctioned off. After spirited bidding against the BBC Welshman, the UF List Cobra got it. And, yes, when I was re-entering the US, the border guard asked me if I was bringing anything back with me and I replied: "An autographed bedpan." There was a beat. I decided to explain: "I attended a charity auction." There was another beat. The border guard allowed as that was the first time he'd heard that one, but let me in, anyway. I hope others will correct and expand on this post. All except Zeph, who is not allowed to offer the pix of me wearing my autographed bedpan.
