The good looks don't hurt, and I guess the struggling hero part was interesting to follow over the seasons. It was also interesting to see all the historical flashbacks of his previous lives. I really wish I could put thoughts together better but all I know is that it doesn't matter the show, I can say who I like but not often exactly *why* for some reason. If I look at LC, I see the quintessential embodiment of evil, but with a proven capacity to love deeply (most notably Fleur in BMV and Nick throughout the series.) Mikey, why don't you tell that nice girl you love her? I love you with all-a my heart, if I don't see-a you again soon, I'm-a gonna die... Clearly they must go faster than a glider; but I've checked the speed of a typical jet plane (http://hypertextbook.com/facts/2002/JobyJosekutty.shtml): a Boeing 747, for example, flies at about 250 m/s. If Nick (and other vampires) can fly that fast, then it would only take him 0.024 seconds to cross a 6 meter wide room. (That's something over eighteen feet across.) In other words, by the time Natalie reacted to the fact that he wasn't standing in front of her any more, he'd already long be over the far side of the loft. Of course, there's still that pesky friction problem. He's doing what he thinks is right (which is actually the mark of a well-written villian because a villian doesn't see him or herself as evil). LaCroix is a vampire looking after his "family" and trying to bring a stray back to the fold. That's the right thing to do, from a certain point of view (mainly LaCroix's). --Libs ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 14 Aug 2006 05:06:01 -0700 From: Libby Singleton <libratsie@s.......> Subject: Re: question about vampire powers gwatson2 <gwatson2@r.......> wrote: Of course, there's still that pesky friction problem. Only if the vampire doesn't wear the right sort of underwear. I wonder if cotton or silk, briefs or boxers are best? Jeanette and Urs would probably swear by non-underwire bras as the metal might heat up in flight (or get too cold depending on the altitude).<wRPg> --Libs ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 14 Aug 2006 07:08:22 -0500 From: eowyn23@j....... That's the right thing to >do, from a certain point of view (mainly LaCroix's). Actually, that's the view point of a lot of parents when it comes to a son or daughter who's joined any cult, but especially a suicide cult. And while Nick and Nat don't really fit cult definition, their goal is the eventual death of Nick. I think that's one of the great things about FK -- everything depends on whose viewpoint you're following. I used to be very anti-LC until I decided to create a character who was in love with him. And you know what? There really is a lot to him. If you look at him the right way.
