That's exactly my point! If vampires are burned by Good symbols, then he
should have burned, but he didn't. For that matter, of the three times Holy
Water was used on the show, once it was set on fire and a second was when
Nick was possessed by a demon, both of which have a second possible reason
for it burning him. I know the third time was in GVP, when the villain hid
the gun in the babtismal font, but I can't remember if he picked it up or
waited for the others to pick it up.

I think the sticky point is that for Christians, crosses are symbols of both
Good and Light, and for them, the Good is forefront. But Raven is not a Good
diety, he's the Trickster. Also, Ancient Egypt didn't really have Good vs.
Bad dieties. All of their gods had their good sides and their bad sides.
Balance, Ma'at, was the important thing to them, not ultimate Goodness.

See what I'm saying?

Yes, but in "Ashes to Ashes" Divia was held captive for nearly two millennia
by an Egyptian sun symbol (the Ahten, if I recall my Egyptian mythology
correctly). Aside of the fact that Divia struck me as one who's only true
religion was that of the power of both evil and self, the ancient Egyptian
religion died out around the 3rd or 4th century in favour of Christianity,
and then spent over a millennia in total obscurity - non only was no-one
practicising it, but basically no-one even knew it had ever existed till
around the late 18th century.

So if one as powerful as Divia can be held captive for that long by the
symbol of a defunct religion, no wonder LaCroix is affected by crosses. It
also adds strongly to the concept that religious symbols themselves are
imbued with a power by dint of the faith of those who use and/or create the
symbol in question.

Except.... regardless of whether or not it has a crucifix in it, surely the
confessional box itself is so much a symbol of the Catholic faith (even to
non-Catholics such as myself), that it too should be imbued with a similar
power....?

It was defunct for those living in the world but to Divia in her tomb, the
symbols would have had the same influence on her because she was not aware of any
change in people's beliefs or perceptions. Also her following of the Egyptian
healer (sorry can't think of his name) may have been an influence on the
strength of symbols in her incasement, which sorta backs up what you were saying about
'symbols imbued with power by dint of the faith of those who use the symbol.'
It also can be related to the strength of a person's faith.

So on that wave of thinking, would that suggest that Lacroix had a belief or a
faith in Christianity that would explain it or may I be so bold to forward my
notion that maybe the cross for Lacroix represents not faith in the Christian
God but goodness, ultimate goodness by man??

I'm sure it's been asked and answered before, but I can't for the life of me
remember, so I'll ask it again <g>. How fast CAN a vamipre, move, fly, etc?
What do you think and why? And how long do you think they can keep it up? I
mean, they've got to be burning a LOT of energy that way.
