Subject: Admin: Quote limit reminder
When Don posts the list rules Monday -- please READ them! First we have several
off-topic posts, and now we've got quite a bit of overquoting. Please remember:
the limit is four lines for the point you're answering. Take out the headers
from the original post, except for one line to say who wrote it. Don't quote
the original poster's sig. Just quote four lines. That's all. If you have another
point from the same post to talk about, then put in no more than those four
lines after you finish talking about the first four lines you quoted.
I realize mailers sometimes get away from people. Sometimes four quoted lines
in one poster's reply comes out as more than that when it goes through the
listserv software. I make allowances for that and so does Don. Just please, don't
quote the enire post you're answering. It makes the digest unwieldly. It also
takes up disc space at PSU. We haven't had a disc jammed in quite a while, but it
can happen and when it does, the sysop has to unjam it. This makes the sysops
unhappy. We don't want the sysops unhappy because we don't want them to get any
ideas about not hosting us. We're not an academic list and we're not directly
connected with PSU. 'Nuff said. <g>

I apologize for the re-quoting of the whole message in my last post. I am

On a more on-topic note, regarding FK vamps and sports...I guess if you're
around long enough at least, your favorite team in whatever sport will
eventually be successful, although I'm not sure I'd want to see the brawl when they
lose.

For newer members - and since it may be a while before the new discussants get
to season 3 - Lean Pownall was an alumni of FK - Dead of Night. This in
addition to working with Geraint Wyn Davies and Nigel Bennett.
The Stratford Festival will be holding a Celebration of His Life at 11 AM on
June 12th at the Studio Theatre in Stratford.

Maybe better make that *starting* June 30th. Those of us who are on digest
can make initial comments on the episode that day. But we can't respond to
other people's comments straight off, because we won't read them till the
next day. And then there are those who are really tied up on the 30th, or
on vacation.

Hi,
I'm trying to remember what episodes (esp season 3)
have vampire hunters in them? I know "Bad Blood" and
"Hunted" both deal with the issue, but I'm looking for
other episodes. (This is why I asked the question
regarding the off topic other tv show.) I'm actively
working on my purely original novel and it deals with
this issue. Thanks!

Didn't Nick mention in one episode that he left Chicago when they put lights
in at Wrigley Field. That would suggest that he followed baseball at one
point.

The Dark Perks have the Bag. There was an episode where Tracy had a big duffle
bag full of vamp killing gear (right after she met Vachon) that Nick took a
peek into. So the faction carries most of their things in big pink duffle bags :)
The DP have non-war faction stories that use them too I think. Mine are on my
page.

Can you imagine the scene? It's the loft, and Euro 2008 is on (for non
Europeans, that's the big international football tournament that takes place
at four yearly intervals midway between the World Cup tournament. As the
name implies, it's for European nations only, and since most of 'our'
vampires came from Europe...)
Nick's got the largest plasma screen TV money can buy, and has installed a
couple of extra couches for the occasion. Extra blood wine - and a
specially concocted blood lager, courtesy of some 'experimenting' by
Screed - has been laid in for the event. Since they take place in Europe
during the day, our vamps get to watch most of the matches live at night in
Toronto - ain't time zones wonderful?
Nick is rooting for Belgium, but as they never win any sporting event, he's
angsting over his team (of course!). Screed as an England supporter is
bellowing out various soccer anthems, Vachon's cheering on Spain backed by
his fledgling Urs, and Janette has joined forces with Bourbon to support
France. Even LaCroix is there, to show his support for Italy. (Well, we
don't do chariot racing any more, and most social history experts claim that
football/soccer is the modern equivalent.)
Nat drops by out of the blue, and after her initial shock, starts rooting
for Belarus (as she had a Russian grandmother).
And the winner is..... Germany!
Strangely, no fewer than five German tourists to the fair city of Toronto
are found with their throats torn out the next morning....

Well, I can also imagine 'our' vampires in the stands at a hockey game fight
breaking out on the ice *and* in the stands. I can see them now, standing in the
shadows licking their chops (or fangs in this case) waiting on the mortals
closest to them to start bleeding profusely just so they can have some fun! The
only way they might be able to feed in public as mortals just might mistake them
for doing a Mike Tyson in the stands. (for none boxing American fans, I'm not
one either but it was wildly know, Tyson is an American heavyweight boxer who
had bitten off the ear of his opponent in one match)

Do you mean BEGINNING on June 30? With summer vacations and activities, not

hmmm... that gives me time to watch both the DVD (Canadian) version and the
SciFi (CBS) version. Just debating the different versions, and who cut what,
when, would be a discussion in itself!!

Being a baseball fan myself, I remember that scene well. It actually was in
DK 1, when Nick goes into the Raven the first time and is talking to Janette.
She asks "wasn't it Chicago before?" and he makes a comment about getting old
and then speaks about putting the lights in Wrigley Field. Janette shows her
disdain, saying that slow games make eternity longer. Personally, I think she'd
be more likely to be a hockey fan-- fast action, fights that could be bloody.
